Brother ST150HDH Strong & Tough Computerized Sewing Machine

I've sewn through 4 layers of thick fabric easily.

This machine has far exceeded all my expectations! I have sewn simple clothing items and very thick more than 4 layer purse items. I have and will continue to work with this fantastic machine.

I bought this Brother sewing machine after my daughter recently purchased one and raved about it. We bought different models. I am more pleased with my new machine than I expected and that is always high marks from me. The machine is easy to use, reliable and quiet. The instruction booklet provides clear, detailed information. I am delighted with this Brother sewing machine.

Love my new sewing machine. Very easy to use. I'm no expert sewer, but with this machine, this 70 year old feels like an expert.

I couldn’t be happier with my new machine. I can’t wait to finish a project so I can start another. I find it to be a solidly constructed, yet easy to transport.This machine works well with all fabrics and thicknesses. Comes with a multitude of presser foots and other useful items. It also offers the option for foot petal or button control. It has a nice selection of stitch options, for both construction and decoration, with easy selection and set- up.

I'm very happy with this machine. It's my first computerized sewing machine, so it takes a little getting used to. I love how slow and steady the stitches can go when you're in a tricky spot. I love all the different choices of stitches that it has. The automatic threading contraption is really nice at my age. The one thing that I kind of feel "meh" about is the automatic buttonhole. Don't get me wrong, it's great if you are actually sewing on a button along with the buttonhole. But sometimes you need to do a buttonhole (like for a drawstring) and you don't have a button for it, so it makes it difficult to figure out the correct size for the buttonhole. And, there is no way to switch and just do a manual 4-step button hole (for example). That would be a nice addition - the option to do a manual 4-step button hole. Yes, you could do it manually like really from scratch, but no one wants to have to do that, lol. I have not had any issues working with denim or other thick fabrics. Denim is actually my favorite to work with which is why I wanted a "heavy duty" machine, for all those layers. I would never force any sewing machine to power through a bunch of thick layers on it's own motor power, though - I usually hand-crank the needle through those areas myself. I don't love the "overcast" stitches on this machine and so I've been using my serger to neaten fabric edges. I have found that for more flimsy fabrics, the overcast stitches pull the edge of the fabric in really tight which then makes your pattern piece smaller, and I don't want to have to think too hard about what my new seam allowances should be, lol. Not a huge deal or even a deal breaker - most (all?) machines are like this. But like I said, I really am fond of this machine and am happy I purchased it. I hope it lasts for years and years. I've had it for a few months now and have done at least a half dozen projects with it ranging from tote bags to evening wear. So far so good!

This sewing machine is a workhorse! I have been making bags and no problems with thick fabrics. Very happwith this. I have other Brother machines and highly recommended.

Runs very quiet, I’m not having to dig my material out of the plate below the needle. I love all the stitches and attachments that come with it.

The only thing that would make this machine even better is a presser foot knee lift. everything else is perfect. Extremely linear foot switch is amazing combined with precise speed control gives total control on tight difficult curves. Programable needle up/down and start/stop stitch reinforcement and can go through few layers of leather with no problem. nice sounding machine.

I personally love it. Easy to use. Does a great job overall.

This was my first Brother Sewing machine model. Everything I threw at it was successful. I honestly enjoyed sewing on it. Then i tried making a quilt. The ST150 handled it fine. The needs changed. Needed more space right o the needle, a thread cutter, a knee lift seemed important. I traded in my ST150hdh. That was a poor decision.

I like this machine. It's smooth and easy to use. I wish the space from the needle to the arm on the right was larger. I repair lots of jeans and I find that small space makes it so difficult maneuvering jeans around. The machine strains when sewing through multiple denim layers but it plows through without stopping. The selection of stitches is plenty. I like the features and the fact you can reset things as needed. Glad I've chosen this

From a long-time Singer machine owner, this is a nice upgrade. Great machine, sews through both heavy denim and lightweight window sheers. But I do agree with previous reviews, not sure about the many plastic parts holding up for the duration. Happy with the purchase!

This machine is perfect for everything. I use it when I am piercing together my quilt tops. It's simple and handles all the work well.

So far so good! I'm loving this machine! I do wish the stitching chart was somehow integrated into the digital display and not on a separate sign which I have always misplaced. I have to refer to the internet whenever I want to change stitch patterns. Other than that, this machine is amazing!

There is a lot to like and then too much plastic, not enough metal. The seam guide on the needle plate are too far back and too short. Stitches are nice, seeing a breeze. Needle threader works sometimes. There is a trick to it but it will work.

Very Nice Machine, but why is it so hard to get accessories from Authorized Brother dealers here in the SF Bay area?

I have several Brother products and like them all. I really like the automatic reverse stitch on this model.

Busque múltiples opciones, algunas bastante llamativas, pero reconociendo mi estado de super principiante, opté por un modelo que me pareció fuerte y sencillo, ideal para aprender. recibí la máquina de coser en casa y me enamoré, nunca había usado una maquina de coser, y debo decir, que aprendí solo con el manual de instrucciones de esta máquina, es realmente fácil de usar y resuelve todas los problemas e inquietudes que puedan surgir. Leí comentarios negativos sobre este modelo en concreto, pero después de usarla, creo que es posible que dichos comentarios sean producto del uso inadecuado del aparato. estoy muy contenta con mi máquina de coser, aunque después de saber lo que podía hacer con ella, desearía tener muchas más puntadas disponibles y la opción de bordado, 50 puntadas se me hacen pocas ahora !!!

I love the style, it's sleek, portable & not so heavy! I just love it! It has so many options I haven't even tried them all yet! Besides all the options (like stitches & designs) it is so easy to use! Use friendly, easy to thread (which is huge!) and seamless stitching. It runs smoothly & I love the easy to use pressure foot, it gives me great control! I've only used it so far for mending but threading & bobbin changing is simple, you can select stitch length easily too! It comes with so many supplies - a dust cover, tools for maintenance & needles/bobbins! I'm so happy & love this is built for the somewhat novice sewer as it's strong & tough!
