A: This unit does not, in fact, beep. The only sound it makes is the soft mechanical click of the automatic shut-off activating. I've used this kettle almost every day for an entire year, love it!

A: Possibly. But you can fully remove the plastic lid before pouring the hot water.

This my second electric kettle. I had to replace the first one because I broke the carafe. Love the fast heating and the convent size. I especially like that the carafe is separate from the heating element so no cord to get in the way
