I bought the new recipe box and was super disappointed. This is my childhood favorite cereal. My kids loved the old recipe. Why fix something that's not broken!?

It's been difficult to find this cereal week after week, though I've always managed to find some before I run out. Just a few weeks ago, for the first time, I ended up with a box marked "New recipe!" Now 65 years young, over time I'd stopped eating every cold cereal except Cocoa Krispies. Most from childhood were now too sweet for my palette. It may sound odd to some, but I ate this cereal almost every morning. It had a nice light chocolate flavor that also wasn't overly sweet. Note the word "had", not has. Now? Just plain garbage. The new Cocoa Krispies has an artificial flavor. And when you get to the last bit of milk to drink from the bowl, there's this weird, dark brown (almost black) sludge that has a chalky, chemical taste. I don't think we're even talking about real chocolate from a cacao bean here. While not mentioned by name in the ingredients, it looks and tastes more like the chocolate wannabe, carob. Honestly, who was your focus group that okayed this change? About a dozen 8 year olds? Well, congratulations on coming up with your own version of New Coke. You've ruined this cereal. I doubt I will ever purchase another box. I tried Special K® Chocolatey Delight as a possible replacement. The grain part is good, but it has the cheapest type of chocolate on the planet. The chocolate pieces have the consistency of candle wax with some cocoa and sugar thrown in.

I’ve been eating these for 40 years until 2 months ago. The new recipe is horrible. The chocolate comes immediately off with the milk. Buy generic brand.

I recently purchased a box of the new recipe Cocaa Krispies and after one bowl I threw the remainder in the trash, Horrible decision on your part to change a winning recipe. Very dissapointed and won;t buy any more unless you go back to the original recipe. I've been eating them since the 60s (yes, I'm that old) and won't buy another box unless you go back to the previous recipe

I have been eating Cocoa Krispies since probably the 60's. This box will be my last. The new taste is disgusting. The taste is real strong but not like chocolate. It leaves an aftertaste that lasts all morning even after brushing my teeth. Was this formula even tested by actual customers?

New recipe: No more real chocolate!

All the real chocolate was now taken out of Cocoa Krispies cereal after 65 years. Most reviewers aren't aware that cocoa is not chocolate. Real chocolate contains chocolate liquor & cocoa butter from the cacao bean. By removing real chocolate, Kellogg saves money and makes a cereal that tastes terrible. It's the common thing today to make products cheaper and cheaper. Shame on you, Kellogg's! I will NEVER again buy it with the new recipe!

My family loves this cereal. It snaps, crackles, and pops just like the original Rice Krispies. It's too bad they changed the recipe though. The old Cocoa Krispies was so much better.

Whatever you did to Cocoa Krispies you have destroyed them forever. Was this government over reach or Kellogg's decision? You have lost me as a customer.

We have been purchasing cocoa krispies since my kids were young. It seems that Kellogg's has cut back on the amount of Cocoa used in making the product. It does not taste as chocolatey as it once did.

I have LOVED cocoa Krispies for 26 years. I ate them on my first day of preschool, the morning of my college graduation, and my first day as a teacher. However, I am disappointed with the new “more chocolatey” recipe. It is not just more chocolate, but the texture and shape has changed as well. The new Krispies are thicker and less airy. They’re more of a flat shape and less rounded. The result changes the experience. Bring back the original recipe!

Every time I go to the store, this cereal is sold out. I have sent friends on shopping missions to find it for me. So obviously people love it already if it is this hard to find for the past year. So why would you go and change the flavor. I bought a box of the new chocolatier taste, it's gross. If I wanted cocoa pebbles, I would have bought them. I do not understand changing something that was clearly selling better than most of its competitors already.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family loves Cocoa Krispies. My husband, kids and I love it and eat it in different ways. It is so crunchy and chocolaty goodness. I sometimes eat it plain as a quick sweet snack. One of our favorites for sure.
