Guests are saying

The recent changes to the cocoa krispies recipe have left many guests disappointed, as they find the new flavor less appealing compared to the classic version. However, some guests still enjoy the nostalgic snap, crackle, and pop experience, especially when making rice krispie treats. The cereal remains a versatile option for breakfast or snacks, with some guests appreciating its chocolatey flavor and texture. Overall, it evokes fond memories for many, despite mixed feelings about the new formulation.

    Perfumed cereal?????

Stop FUMIGATING items with air freshener, Target! The last three times we’ve purchased Rice Krispies from Target, the actual cereal—inside the bag!!—has smelled and TASTED of air freshener. Somehow, the perfume permeates the plastic bag. Ridiculous. This isn’t a problem at other grocery stores, literally just Target. And this has happened at two separate stores, too, so it’s not an isolated incident. Chemically perfumed food shouldn’t be consumed, it’s insane that Target is perfuming things to this degree. We’ll stick to buying cereals at grocery stores.

    Maybe dangerous

I haven't had any problem with Cocoa Krispies before. Even when they made it more chocolatey. We always have a box available in the house But my purchase in sept 2025 taste like a very strong chemical. There is a strong odor to it also. I wish I could get it analyzed and find out what is making it taste so bad. What ever it is I think it is spoiled during manufacturing or someone added something harmful to human.

    Not what i thought.

I thought they would be like Kellogg chocolate krispies and they were not. Different taste and harder than real ones. This says Kellogg but totally different. I’ll pay the small difference and get the regular ones.

    Brown Rice Krispies

Bought a big box of these for my chocolate cereal loving son and he will not eat them after the first bowl. They have very little flavor just brown Rice Krispies. So disappointed that I wasted money and food.

    Ruined my favorite cereal

Ruined my favorite cereal. After one bite I noticed the difference. Went to see if there was a change and lo and behold there is a new recipe. Didn’t finish the bowl, and trashed the brand new box. This recipe is trash!

    So disappointing!

I am 60 years old and have enjoyed Cocoa Krispies since childhood. Recently purchased a new box and was disappointed to find the recipe had changed. The new Krispies are much darker and have a very unpleasant artificial chocolate flavor. Tossed the remainder of the box. Sad to see the end of an era.

    Yuck!

I’m 67 and I’ve eaten this cereal since I was a kid. The box I bought last week tastes NOTHING like the Cocoa Krispies I’m used to. Color is darker and has a weird chemical taste. Blech!

    Different recipe between sizes

The recipe is different for the 23.3 oz “Choco Krispies”. Less sugar and a little more starchy texture. Not bad, but not what I’m used to.

    Bad ingredients.

I used to love this cereal but now I’ve learned how bad hydrogenated oils are. I won’t be buying again. I thought they were made illegal a long time ago.

    Shipping and Handling

This review does not apply to the actual product, only the handling and shipping of the product. I am extremely disappointed with the care taken to package my order. EVERYTHING that was in any kind of plastic/cardboard container was damaged. The attached picture doesn't adequately reflect the bent, crushed, broken boxes. I store my merchandise neatly in the pantry and it is disappointng to receive any merchandise with such blatent regard to shipping and handling. I won't be ordered from Target in the future

    Worst Recipe Ever!

What did you do to my cereal?!? I’ve eaten Cocoa Krispies for YEARS, i.e. lunch, dinner etc. I’m in my 50’s, so I’m a longtime indulger. I’ve tolerated my recipe changes over the years for this cereal but this version is the WORSE! Within seconds, the cereal turns to MUSH! It’s just AWEFUL. I’ve delayed purchases to see if Kellogg’s realize what colossal mistake was made to the recipe. I’ve had resort to purchasing versions of the cereal that expire in November or December, 2025. If the expiration date states 2026, it’s the new recipe. Luckily, I’m able to find the old version in the single breakfast cup servings. In a nutshell, CHANGE THE RECIPE BACK!
