A cool twist on painting

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 6-year-old and my 3-year-old were fascinated by this whipped paint kit. Even my 3-year-old, who is not very motivated to color, completed an entire sheet with this fun activity. Before we got started, I was worried that the tubes were going to be too hard for them to squeeze, especially my younger daughter. However, this turned out to be no worry at all. Both kids were independent with the activity and had a lot of fun switching the tips to make different patterns of paint. I liked the variation of regular pages with the cutouts. I wish there had been more cutouts, since we used half of them in one activity (only four of them in the package). There are three types of tips, but multiple of each kind. We had no issues with sharing or not having enough tips, even though I had two kids using one kit. It was also a relatively mess-free activity. My kids are pretty neat with art, so we only needed a plastic placemat, paper plate for putting the materials on and a piece of scrap paper to use for testing out the paint. There was a good amount of paint provided. I think it will be enough for two or three more projects for both kids. I think next time I will suggest that they color in some of the elements with marker before we do the paint, since only five colors are provided and we needed brown for the ice cream cone etc. Clean up was easy, just rinsed the caps out. The paint dried pretty quickly. We did this mid-morning and it was dry before lunch. Once the paint was dry, I punched out the cut-outs but the paint weighed down the paper, so the standing cut-outs, like the cake, are too top heavy to stay upright. This could probably be solved with heavier cardstock or cardboard instead of the current paper that's being used. I think this activity would be best for kids from ages 4 through 9. It's great for kids who enjoy painting and want to do something a little out of the box. I wish I had had an activity like this when I was younger!
