Q: Has anyone used this grinder past the manufacturer's 18 month warranty period?

submitted by Daya - 2 years ago
  • A: Yes. Will require cleaning. The hopper rotates off. Good to brush clean and force air (blow vigorously) through the passages to remove fine particles which seem to clog the switch mechanism.

submitted byCheapGuy - 2 years ago
  • A: This item has over three thousand reviews online with a 4.2 rating. Hope this helps!

  • A: Yes- after 18 months the grinder broke. It has been cleaned and will not grind beans any longer

    submitted byMNJoel13 - 1 year ago
  • A: Yes, I've had it and use it a lot every day, past the 18 month mark and still works great. Have to clean it so it doesn't get clogged. Still works great,

Q: How many volt is this coffee grinder? Will it work in eroupe ?

submitted by Danaz - 9 years ago
  • A: It is 120 volts. I don't think it will work in Europe.

submitted byRomeo Oscar - 9 years ago
  • A: I don't know how many volts but I don't believe it will work in Europe without an adapter.

submitted byjmn - 9 years ago
  • A: with a voltage converter you could use it in Europe

submitted byAF - 2 years ago
  • A: It is 120v. There are voltage converters for appliances but I personally would buy the appliance in the country you're moving to.

Q: Is it good for coarse cold brew grind?

submitted by Ariel - 5 years ago
  • A: The grind is fairly inconsistent and you will get a lot of fines.

  • A: Yes! The are 18 levels ranging from ultra-fine to extra-course.

  • A: All of the settings on this grinder make "Fine" grounds. The coarse setting makes medium find grounds. If you want coarse grinds -- look elsewhere. I am very disappointed in this machine.

Q: Does anyone know if this grinder grind coffee beans beyond the espresso size to the dust powder extra fine size needed to prepare like Turkish coffee or so?

submitted by Ptl - 8 years ago
  • A: Yes, there is an extra fine setting for Turkish coffee.

submitted byRadiofan - 6 years ago
  • A: It does several different textures.

    submitted byGinaB2323 - 6 years ago

Q: Can you grind spices in this?

submitted by JA - 8 years ago
  • A: Yes, I suppose you could. It would be a little over powered for just regular kitchen use and much more work to clean out between spices. I use a small inexpensive grinder for spices, they usually are around $10.

submitted byclf - 8 years ago
  • A: You could, but it wouldn't be easy to clean a specific spice out of it. I wouldn't use it for that purpose.

submitted byTCook - 8 years ago

Q: Just bought grinder. It grinds coffee really slow. Is this normal?

submitted by Sandcrab3 - 8 years ago
  • A: You don't really want a grinder that is too fast. It builds up heat due to the speed and that can effect your beans.

submitted byclf - 8 years ago
  • A: The setting in front is for the approximate number of cups of brewed coffee in ground coffee needed. The top setting is for how fine a grind you want. The finer the grind the slower it will grind because it brings the blades closer together. A more uniform grind speed can be achieved by keeping the bean hopper full so it always puts downward pressure on the beans to enter the grinding chamber. All that being said it should grind the beans at the same rate as any other comparable grinder. I've had mine for over a year and find it to be the best grinder for under $100. Hope that helps!

    submitted byPhil C - 8 years ago

Q: I just bought this grinder. There is a mark on the dial that selects Fine/Medium/Course. Is it supposed to be screwed all the way in so mark is about 9 o'clock or is it supposed to face you.

submitted by Sandcrab3 - 8 years ago
  • A: True the white line is your guide to the type of grind you want. Align with the dots on your grinder. Good luck.

submitted byNailima - 8 years ago
  • A: The white line indicates the desired grind. it varies from fine to coarse. just twist to the the dotted marks depending on how you want it ground. most coffee makers you would use the medium setting and fine form more espresso applications.

I had one of these coffee grinders for years but it finally bit the dust. The new one I purchased did not grind properly. For example, it produced the same amount of grounds whether I set it for 8 or 18 cups. I returned it.

Solid choice for grinding beans. My only complaint is you need to use the little brush to get the grinds out of the plastic container. Otherwise, seems like a nice grinder so far.

Noisiest, messiest disaster. I have rarely liked an appliance LESS. I had a simple blade grinder for over 10 years. This one disappoints on almost every level. I'd rather use my hand crack bean grinder, not kidding.

    Noise and Static

    1 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
An dad - 20 days ago, Verified purchaser
This is hands down the noisiest and most staticy grinder I've ever used. First off, if you measure your beans first, forget about it. It doesn't take them all in. A good handfull of beans sit in the inlet and just bounce around at the end, so you never know if you're getting out what you put in. It's impossible to pour the beans out because they clump together and stick to the sides. And the noise... nobody in the house will need coffee to wake up after you run this thing. It's horrible.

    Melitta brand is better

    2 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
    leahnoel - 22 days ago
Bought this as a replacement for our Melitta brand burr when the motor died after about 8 years. We prefer the Melitta brand burr, because this Cuisinart model: -does not allow cup settings under 4 cups. This can get annoying if you are trying to make a smaller serving, and/or when a bean gets stuck and you don’t get a full grind. -does not allow any odd-number cup selection. Settings start at 4 cups and go up by 2. -grind button does not work as a mid-grind stop, you have to push the cup setting all the way to zero. This can be annoying because pushing the grind button is easier and faster than sliding the cup setting, and then you have to re-set your cup setting. -the cup setting slide is not completely aligned with the line, and the notches are not super definitive by touch, so we’re never confident that we have set the cups to our desired number. -the grounds container has slightly squared corners, so grounds are more likely to get trapped in the corners. Otherwise it works fine, but not nearly as convenient nor as well-designed as the Melitta brand. We do prefer Cuisinart’s bean capacity and the square-ish funnel shape of the bean compartment, but it’s not enough to tip the scales.

This grinder works pretty well. It has a good adjustment for grind fineness. The timer numbers do not correlate to cups. We need to run it twice at “18” to get about the right amount of coffee for a 12 cup pot. Sometime static electricity builds up in the receiving chamber and then the grounds adhere to the sides and top.

I purchased this because the same one I've had for 6 years I had taken to work to use. I then bought a different brand coffee grinder for home. After months of trying to adjust the coarseness of the grind, I could never achieve the same bloom that I can at work when doing my morning pour-over cup. Once I purchased another one of these Cuisinart grinders for home, the bloom was back! This grinder makes the best pour-over cup of coffee.

I hate this coffee grinder so much. Not sure if we got one that's defective or what, but the grinder slips and it doesn't feed through the appropriate amount of beans. Yes, I know I could weigh them and then add them to the hopper, but that's kind of the point of having preset servings.
