Q: Can this make nut butters?

A: No, food processors are not capapble of making nut butters. To make nut butters, some degree of smashing/fine crushing is needed, the blades of food processors aren't capable of this.

Uncooked meats should be cold, but not frozen; cut up to 8 ounces into 1 ⁄2-inch pieces, trimmed of gristle and soft fat; some hard fat may remain. A: PROCESSING FOOD 1. Place the work bowl firmly on the motor base and insert the blade assembly. Opening at back of bowl must face column at back of Mini-Prep® Plus Processor. Turn counterclockwise to lock in place. 2. Place food in the work bowl. Be sure the food is cut in small pieces, and the bowl is not overloaded. 3. Lock the cover into position. Note: Due to the powerful motor provided with this unit, Cuisinart recommends using one hand to support the Mini-Prep® Plus Processor during operation. 4. Press the appropriate Chop or Grind Control, depending on the food you are processing. 5. When you have finished processing the food, stop the machine by releasing the control button.

I've used the Mini-Prep for chopping ingredients for tuna or chicken salad, chopping veggies for chili, chopping cheese, nuts for a pie crust, making hummus / baba ganouj, salsa, pesto, purees, sauces, etc. It can handle anything I choose to process. Looks like I just wore out the first one I used. This is my 2nd Mini-Prep, because the 1st one I had for 9 years finally bit the dust. The blades would spin great when it was empty, but if you put in any food (resistance), --regardless of size--the motor would spin, but not the blade spindle--even a new one; ... so, I now have replacement parts if I should ever need them. Getting such good use for so long from the 1st one I bought, I decided to get another one.
