I have no idea what could possibly be going so wrong, we’ve never had this issue before with other rods, but this side rod is always sliding out of the middle extender when we try to open and close the curtains. There’s no way to tighten the hold on the mounting bracket either.

The rod has 3 parts, 2 'D' and one 'E' and comes with a finial screwed into one of the D rods and the E rod. Unscrew the finial from E rod and place onto other D rod and E fits within the D rods. Very sturdy with 3 brackets, each with 2 anchors (1/4" bit size) and 2 screws. Price seems a little high but it looks fine and gets the job done.
