  • A: Hello Arlene, this is Kelly with Dyson. The only cord-free models in our current line up where you would NOT need to hold down a trigger, would be the Omni-glide or any of the V12 models. My dyson is not working and Im keeping touch with them, but problem is not solve it. the costume service give me a very hard time, product is great if work, but if you try to contact them its hard. I need a new battery and maybe a new torque head.I sen video and picture to them. I never will buy from them again.

Has to be one of the more overhyped products/brands, as much as I want to like it ( at least in this category). Constantly clogging, even with filter cleaned. Designed in such a way that you have to reach your fingers up into the area where the dirt is clogging against the container, and unclog it manually. Who wants to reach their hands up inside a vacuum bag? Not me. The bottom door is regularly falling open when it had appeared to be clicked shut, and then you're vacuuming with the dirt flying out the bottom. Sometimes it leaves dirt treads on one side where you're vacuuming. Not the filter area leaks of mildew, which I can't seem to fix. Getting a new filter, but the whole area seems tainted. High power charge is extremely short lived, and almost always clogs, or pulses on low battery mode for every single use. Feels a bit like 'my first vacuum', a gift for a college kid who wants their cleaning eq to look cool. I'm guessing the more high powered models are significantly better, but the claims on suction....def don't feel legit to me.

The bin does feature a max fill line, and going passed this line often can cause a build-up on the cyclone mesh and cause debris to get stuck in the area. We always recommend emptying the bin when you reach the max fill line. Depending on your cleaning tasks, you may have to do this more than once during your tasks. The machine features two modes: max mode and standard extended run high suction mode. Max mode is designed to be a temporary boost of power for particularly stubborn messes. The extended run high suction mode is ideal for the majority of cleaning tasks. The unit seems to work well. Battery life is 40 minutes and it finds all kinds dirt. We do not like the grip because it rubs a blister on knuckle of your thumbs. We will be returning the unit to purchase something else.

I actually used the V8 model at a home I clean. And it is so easy and light weight to use. It also has a very strong suction. I decided I wanted on for my house. I have mainly wood floors but I also use it on a few small rugs I have, but at the house I clean i use it on the majority of the house that is carpeted. And wood floor kitchen.

Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. Your Dyson V8™ cordless offers two powerful suction modes - regular and MAX. MAX provides a boost of suction for larger debris or more stubborn messes. This mode should not be utilized for your everyday cleaning, as it will only give you about 7 minutes of run time. Regular suction is generally suitable for every household, and gives up to 40 minutes of run time (30 when using a motorized tool). This model, and the majority of our other cord-free machines, does have a light-touch trigger, which does need to be held down in order to engage the machine's motor. I've got big nasty blisters between my index finger and thumb. I would not buy this again or recommend this model. Does not glide nicely on carpet either. It does have great suction though. This is my 4th Dyson vacuum. The 1st 2 were great, but last 2 not so much. I will not buy Dyson in the future.

I had been saving up to buy this for 2 years now. As a resident in training, this is still a big budget purchase for me. It is light years ahead compared to my previous very affordable vacuum that was just 3 years old. My biggest peeve was that it would spit out the hair in a tangled knot. No more hairy carpets! I will say though, I didn't realize what a pain it would be to hold down the button the entire time that I vacuum. Fortunately, I have a small apartment but that is a big drawback. If this meant only for small spaces and short bursts of use, I am not sure it is worth the price tag. In hindsight, knowing what I know now, would not have picked this model for my needs.

We can confirm that our V8 models do have a trigger which needs to be held down, to power the machine. This light-touch trigger helps to conserve battery life, ensuring that power is only being used with the trigger engaged. This also helps to save battery life, when you're needing to move around obstacles such as furniture, or even when moving from room to room. We do appreciate that feedback! With regard to overall run time, you will get up to 40 minutes of run time with our V8 machines, or 30 minutes when using one of the motorized tools, in the extended run time mode. The quality/durability of these have drastically declined. It’s broken in multiple places (& I don’t overuse or treat poorly) and now leaves deep scratches on my hardwood flooring when I do use it. It was well within my warranty and upon contacting Dyson MULTIPLE times to try to get the machine repaired/replaced, they ignored every one of my attempts. I finally received an email back 5 months after I began my attempts stating they would do nothing to help me because now, my warranty has expired since they took so long to reach back out to me. It began deteriorating within 6 months of purchase. This one replaced a prior, similar Dyson I used for over 10 years. I expected more from this company but the machine and customer service of the company has been TERRIBLE. Spend your money on another product.

At 73 It has really gotten hard to push a regular vacuum. My cleaning girl suggested that I get a stick vacuum and I thought about it finally when I could not use my other vac I purchased the Dyson V8 and it has been a blessing for me. I feel like I can get some cleaning done on my own.

Can't keep up with our household

I was really excited when I bought this vacuum. I had used one at my previous job and loved it. Apparently, my house produces a lot more dirt than my old job site! Between 3 short haired dogs and 2 people.. this vacuum can't keep up. I had to buy extra filters for it just to vacuum 1 large area rug and 2 small ones. I can't even finish the large area rug before it begins to pulse. Really bummed out. I try to vacuum every day, but when I had to wash the one filter it came with every day... It made it impossible. I go through 2 filters JUST to do the area rugs. Forget trying to vacuum the rest of the house.

It's really unusual to hear that your filter would cause the type of issue you're having, on such a regular basis. While the filters on our V8 models do require washing once per month, they should not get so clogged that you need to replace them as frequently as you are.
