Merci

I've had this for about a year and I still can't figure out how to operate it! It was installed by the people who installed the new furnace. No help no instructions! I also have the app on my phone this is no help either! Also it can't be upgraded to add other features such as security, doorbell, cams etc. Each requires starting over!
The Ability to Program Needs Work

You need to think outside the box to program this thermostat. Normal programmable thermostats lay it out really clear. This on only gives you three options to choose from: home, away, and sleep. A normal programmable thermostat has home, away, sleep, and wake up to keep it simple. I do not leave my house when I sleep. The other nit noid thing that I do not appreciate, it only gives you the option to set the times on the half hour or the beginning of the hour. There is no option to set it on the quarter hours, like my last thermostat did. With it being electronic I should have the option of being able to set to the exact minute that I want it to turn on and off! It took me about three hours to figure out how to program this thermostat. The last thing that is annoying is the constant push for you to allow your local electric to have control over your thermostat during peak times of electrical usage to save you money supposedly. If the HVAC contractor hadn't included this thermostat as a part of the system installation, ecobee would not have been on the top of my list of choices for a thermostat.

We bought our Ecobee Lite 3 around two years ago. It just died. That seems like a really short lifespan for something so expensive.
Issues When Installed Near Ceiling Fan

This review is specific to a set up when the ecobee is installed in a room with a ceiling fan. When the fan is turned on, it affects the thermostat's temperature sensor and will drop the temperature. This causes the AC not to cycle on for a long time since it doesn't hit the set temperature threshold. Researching around, reddit threads indicate this is a known design flaw. My previous thermostat did not have this issue. Ecobee support acknowledged this issue and can only be resolved by purchasing a smart sensor.

I was pumped for my ecobee, unfortunately, I ended up replacing it with my old thermostat. The adjust for humidity setting doesn't function properly (if the humidity is high, but the temperature is at the desired setting, then the AC doesn't run and the humidity remains high). The internal thermometer was off by multiple degrees and didn't respond to the adjustments that were made to correct the difference. Ultimately, my house was humid and uncomfortable with the ecobee, even after turning all of the energy savings settings to the minimum. I wanted it to work and tried every setting possible. My old thermostat is back in and my house is comfortable again.
Worst thermostat I’ve ever owned

I have 7 of these thermostats in my house. They’re absolutely the worst thermostat I’ve ever used. I’ve been having to turn my thermostat down to 70 at night just to get it to 76. It’s got all this Eco-friendly stuff on there, which is super hard to turn off that will just turn your thermostat off when it feels like. I will be ripping out all seven of these and putting in google nest

This thing came with my home, and it's very easy to break a prong if it isn't removed correctly or too often. I'm not sure why anyone would want a Wi-Fi enabled thermostat, it won't function properly during a power outage, or if your Wi-Fi is down, which is why I'm getting a regular thermostat. You'd have to purchase a new unit since they don't sell any parts separately, might as well be an Apple product! 2 out of 5 wouldn't recommend.
Fantastic so far!

This is our first smart thermostat and we are enjoying it a lot, so far. This replaced the thermostat that has been in the house, since the 90s. Installation instructions were pretty straightforward. One thing that I was not expecting to be an issue is our whole house humidifier. The installation of that tied into our furnace really made the wiring different. Luckily, after following the wires around, I found that our “G” wire was capped at the humidifier and wasn’t being used. So I untwisted it from the furnace side and plugged it in. Viola! Works perfectly. My wife got the thermostat for free from her work’s health benefits plan, so it was a no brainer to upgrade to this. I will say though, after some more time playing with this and seeing how well it’s going to work for us, we’ll probably upgrade to the premium one. There is a lot more that I’d like to do with it. Can’t argue with free though.

With Ecobee for two years now coming from a Google home thermostat. Owning a Ecobee lite thermostat. Ecobee is probably one of the most featured thermostat. It does have the ability to extend heating cycle with specified timing to dissipate the heat accumulated in the ducts. Also it can serve as an home alarm system. Good and reliable product.
Good Thermostat and Still Room to Be Outstanding

I have been using Ecobee3 Lite for quite a while. Recently the heat pump replaced the AC. The thermostat has done its job very well. With the manual it is easy to make settings. There is still room to make this thermostat outstanding and 5 stars. The electricity price varies by time. Very high on peak zones and very low on ultra valley zone. Time Threshold to prevent the heat pump from running during the peak zones will make Ecobee3 Lite outstanding.

Wow, this thing sucks. I bought it in early summer, made some phone calls to ecobee (and they were helpful) to get it set up for cooling and it worked (although the fan never came on once an hour as it was set up to do... I should have known it wasn't right). We came home from being out of town for a week (early October) to see the house was at 61 F. Set it to run by schedule to warm up to 66, went to bed, woke up to 77 F, and it still hasn't stopped. What a piece of junk.

Been 4yrs with Eco 3 lite , once the hiccups were figured out its been awesome . Customer support has been fantastic. Can monitor from trips, work , if your wfi goes down it continues your patterns. Sends a monthly email of savings compared to other users. Adds up now, especially when AC runs. Do your research on how it works, your competence on installing and troubleshooting. Like all IOT units there is a learning curve, once passed its smooth sailing.

It's so nice to be able to see big clear letters, numbers and symbols. I have no difficulty switching between heat and AC or adjusting the temp.
