Love the ice and the extra tank on the side. It’s much quieter than earlier versions, but still noticeable.

We have had this just over 1 1/2 years. It started "acting up" about 5 months ago. It would say "add water" when the tank was full and not make ice. It has since started making this awful LOUD noise periodically during ice making. For the cost, IT IS NOT WORTH IT

This is my third machine. I really can’t live without the ice.

We loved this ice maker. I read the reviews and we always used distilled water to avoid the many issues mentioned in many reviews. A year and a half in it became louder than normal. We performed all recommended maintenance. Now it just goes back in forth between making ice and defrosting. Very very frustrating for a device that looks brand new but fails right after the warranty expires.

Love this so much!!! So far, everything is going great. We ended up buying the side tank also, which makes it so convenient.

Installation was simple. Capacity of the ice bin is good and having the side tank is a lifesaver, I’m glad that I opted for that as well. The noise level is medium, I wish it was quieter, but it’s tolerable for the benefit of having nugget ice. The cleaning requirements is a bit cumbersome, at least the descaling process. It requires a good 24 hours to devote to it and that’s a lot of time investment for something that is not a pet or a child. I’ve only been using filtered water, yet the buildup is Much higher than I would’ve expected from using filtered water. It would be really nice to have a option to connect a filter somewhere along the hose line that goes from the side tank reservoir, leading into the icemaker that the customer could purchase the specific type of descaling and filtering type filter needed for their specific area and water hardness so that you could simply just use tapwater, and it would be filtered and processed properly before entering icemaker, thus protecting all the components inside of the icemaker. When I unplugged it to do the cleaning and scaling process for the first time, I noticed there was white substances leaking through the metal seams at/near the front of the machine. This is a bit concerning to me, as I can’t tell if it’s coolant leakage OR some type of acid or what is coming out there. I love the way. It is working so far in the ice production, I’m a little bit nervous about spending this much money and having it leaking stuff out of the “seams” this early in its life. I’m also not thrilled with having to be cleaning and descaling every 2 to 3 weeks and would’ve hoped for a better process for an appliance of this high dollar amount and what I perceive as top of the line equipment.

Love this ice maker! The GE Opal makes perfect, soft nugget ice fast. It’s quiet, easy to use, and looks great on the counter. A must-have for ice lovers!

Okay. I bought one. It lasted 3 years running 24\7! I bought 3 more for family and my office. All 3 quit within a month. Very disappointed.

Love this product! On my second one, but be careful don’t leave it on and unattended for more than a few days because then it will clog up and stop working. Had ours a little over a year and then that happened.

It takes no time to have my ice ready to go! It can be completely empty and within minutes, I have a full cup!

This is the second opal ice machine we have purchased in 3 years. NOT worth the money when they break so quickly. Noisy and does not make ice quickly! Do not buy

The product does exactly what it was promised to do. Makes delicious chewable and taste restaurant style ice - does so quietly and in quantities that are super useful for our family. In addition the setup and installation was super easy and the instructions simple and intuitive to follow.

This was great for about a year and then it quit working. Not worth the money.

My wife really wanted one of these because she drinks a lot of water and LOVES the ice from Son1c. We got this and there is both good and bad. Bad first - it seems that it shouldn't be this expensive. Second - Ours started making a screeching noise randomly in the very first week. This is actually a known problem so I'm not sure why it is still happening. On the plus side, it really does make great ice and it is cleaver how it reuses ice melt to keep the bin full and reduce refills. In the end, we are exchanging our first unit for a new one, but for sure keeping, and loving it.

Love the dimensions, it fits under my shelves on the countertop and is still pretty slender. I’m within 24 hrs of use and it doesn’t seem noisy to me. The capacity and production is perfect as our household goes through lots of ice. I was used to the simple bullet ice maker so this was a bit more with installation but definitely worth it! I love the machine.
