A: At Target, the White one is Opal 1.0 version. The Silver and the black one with side tank are the newer Opal 2.0 versions with various enhancements.

Very disappointed, first one I had didn’t work properly after a month and half. They warrantied and sent me another one. This one only worked a couple weeks and then had different issues than the first. I love the ice it makes when it would work but neither one last long at all- very disappointing and DO NOT RECOMMEND

This replaced our first model, which had started a horrible grinding noise after 6-7 months. This model doesn't seem to make as much ice and makes a groaning noise we still haven't gotten used to. If GE can ever make a quiet ice maker, they will be onto something.

We have had to have it replaced twice. Currently it is making a horrible noise and needs to be replaced again. Unfortunately our warranty could not be updated with each new Opal so replacement is out of the question. Good device when it works.

Love my new ice maker! Had experience using it for at least a year and loved it so much I just had to buy one of my own. Before I used one of the two they got for us at work. Cleaning is easy and with my cerebral palsy i couldn’t get just any ice maker. I had to be able to physically be able to drain the water, rinse it out, clean it, and get the ice. The long drain tubes at the back was such a god send. I didn’t have to pick up the machine and unplug the little thing on the bottom. I just unsnap the back and pull the gray plug off and put back when done. The noise level to me isn’t bad and it’s not super loud as some say. Sounds like my frig ice maker. I absolutely love it!!!

I want to really like this Opal ice maker, and I’m still holding out to like it, BUT removing the filter is next to impossible. It should not be as hard as it is to remove a simple filter. I gotta crank it with all my might, with rubber gloves on AND STILL is a major struggle. I LOVE the ice-so seriously GE, put an Engineer on this and FIX IT! Your products should be user friendly.
