The gluten free Chex were my favorite. The rosemary extract has been discovered as the cause of my allergic reaction. Who ever heard of Rosemary in breakfast cereal?

Bioengineered Ingredients!!??

Why bioengineered ingredients?? Read the line below the ingredients on the box.
1 reply from Chex team - 2 months ago
Biotechnology is the science whereby the DNA of an organism is modified to favor the expression of desirable traits as the organism grows. For food, this mostly refers to genetic alterations to crops like sugar beet, corn, soy, and canola to better equip those crops to thrive even when growing conditions might not be ideal. On the question of safety – our number one priority – there is broad global consensus among food and safety regulatory bodies that approved genetically modified/bioengineered ingredients are safe. The World Health Organization, the FAO, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Health Canada have all weighed in on this question – and all have found that the approved bioengineered crops are as safe and acceptable as their conventional counterparts.

I just started eating Rice Chex when I gave up gluten. They are really delicious. Sometimes I snack on them as I would crackers or chips. They are good with blueberries as well.

A simple name with so many issues

1 out of 5 stars
Tracy - 4 months ago

1. Stop fortifying cereal. Most of the issues are in the synthetic ingredients to add the "fortified" vitamins and minerals. Huge example: Vitamin A is synthetic palmitate or, palm oil. If you're allergic to palm oil don't go near anything with "palm" in the word. 2. It's a rice cereal. Why the heck is there so much sugar? 3. Why is there so much sodium? It's rice cereal. Please remove the fortified vitamins and minerals. There's more allergens in those ingredients than anything else. Take it from someone who can't find cereal BECAUSE of the fortified ingredients being made with synthetic everything.

Bring Back the Old Formula

1 out of 5 stars
Natalie - 5 months ago

The new formula has fewer vitamins and no magnesium. The bags are flimsy and there are 310 mg of salt vs 330 mg from the previous formula. If a bowl of cereal is the main breakfast source, salt is needed.

Now it’s “ Derived from a Bioengineered Source”

Not sure what ingredients are bioengineered but it’s marked GF. So is General Mills Lucky charms but it had Trisodium Phosphate. Although Chex doesn’t mention this, phosphate mimics the symptoms of Gluten. Now my whole body aches and it’s hard to walk due to pain. Something isn’t right. What isn’t being labeled?

lol at 'it's BAD because GMO' - great cereal

Absolute antiscientific nonsense. Y'all would be hilarious if it weren't so depressing. That said, cereal tastes great. Low sugar for a breakfast cereal and quality control is much better than competitor's rice cereals. Very satisfied.

Contains "Bioengineered Food Ingredients"

1 out of 5 stars
Concerned_Mom - 7 months ago

I bought these because the ingredient list is fairly short and most of the usual crappy food ingredients are absent. HOWEVER... I'm extremely disappointed to discover that the simple ingredient list contains BIOENGINEERED FOOD INGREDIENTS, aka, GMOs (genetically modified organisms). It's going into the TRASH. Toxic food, is toxic food, even when the ingredient list is short.

An excellent cereal

Ebony - 9 months ago
originally posted on chex.com
Yes, it's a bit plain but that's the point. There are those out there who can't handle high sugars or flavourings; this cereal is great for people with diabetes and/or gallbladder issues and the plainness allows people to add fruits, nuts and even sugar if they wanted. It's completely customizable. Sadly, it looks like they've discontinued this item, which is devastating to those that needed it. Please bring it back.

It has listed on the box that some of the ingredients are GMO. But this is listed under the ingredients. It should be clearly labeled to avoid people who want real food from buying it by mistake.

Rice Chex & Vanilla Chex

Being on a gluten free diet for medical reasons, I love Rice Chex but miss the Vanilla Chex which was my favourite. I would love it if you would sell it in the UK, as there is nothing to compare with it here that is gluten free. You are missing a big market. Value only average because of the price in UK.

Ruining a good thing

2 out of 5 stars
RocRecluse - 11 months ago
originally posted on chex.com
I used to have Rice Chex all the time in cereals or a homemade mix of my own and it was fantastic! That seems to have changed since ALL Chex (Except Chex Mix and Muddy Buddies?) appear to be gluten free now. Don't get me wrong, I think it's good to have that option for people who need it, but then discontinuing the original is very disappointing. It's like if Coke stopped selling regular and only sold diet. The gluten free ruins the texture and slightly throws a different flavor. I really wish there was the option to get the original, but until then I probably won't be buying again...
