I’ve only had this for a few months and all of a sudden it started crackling when I raise the volume past a certain point. Its really annoying to listen to anything with a beat.

Battery issues.
When I first got it, it was working great, sounded great, and I had no issues. However, it randomly stopped allowing me to charge it. Everything I found online said I may need to clean the plug in spot, may need to clean my cords, but even after doing all of that it still does the flashing red warning light, and makes the noise to let you know something’s wrong. Everything online said I also may need to try different chargers and outlets, so I have tried switching both and it still won’t charge. It’s been days now, and I honestly don’t know what to do anymore, and it’s driving me insane. This much money for a speaker that won’t charge is just frustrating.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The beeping sound when charging indicates that the USB-C charging protection safety feature has detected moisture or debris in the port. We recommend using compressed air to dry and clean out the charging port. Please also ensure that the charging cable is completely dry before plugging it back in. If you continue to experience the issue once everything is dry, please reach out to our customer support team here for further assistance: https://support.jbl.com/

Wish it could float 😞
We have a handful of different JBL products and have been happy with them and plan on getting more. However, I just lost our Grip in a kayaking incident and hoped it could float.... It does not ☹️ sank right to the bottom like a rock. Being that we were kayaking on a river at a point the current was flowing pretty good we couldn't find it to see if it survived. Maybe something to consider in newer products 😬

Does not keep a charge!!
Would rate 0 if I could. This speaker is very below par as far as sound and charging. A full charge lasts maybe 2 hrs. Terrible and would never recommend. And I can’t even return it or get an exchange. Smh.

We cannot guarantee that a battery will last 14hours. The time provided is up to, and how long the battery lasts is determined by volume and source content. Also, all batteries, over time, will slowly wear down. When you first get a unit it may last 5 hours. Two years later it may only last 3 hours. However, if you recently purchased the JBL Grip speaker, we would like to work with you regarding its battery and sound issues. Feel free to contact our customer support to assist you further with your concern. https://support.jbl.com/

Wait for a sale and get a bigger one
Not a big step up from their smaller more portable speakers like the clip or go. A bit louder yes but the sound quality at max is not good. For the extra 60-40$ more I expected at least a better sound quality. The battery life doesn’t last long at all either. I bought two at the time, took both of them back and bought the charge 6 while it was on sale. Sure it was double the price but the grip was not worth it and the charge was only 20$ more than the flip so all around better deal.

Amazing speaker!
I received my speaker yesterday and it is amazing. I love the sound and I am looking forward to seeing it's potential when using it in different environments. The app is easy to use and the setup was simple. The buttons provided, on the grip itself, make it so I don't have to have my phone in hand to change settings. Because the grip provides easy to locate buttons, I can change lighting, volume, or power off with ease. Great product!

Battery life about 5 hrs
Everything about it is great and the personalization came out even better. But the battery lasts no where near 10 hours let alone 14. I’ve been using it for work and I’m lucky if I get 5 hours out of it 👎🏽👎🏽 edit: they keep replying that it only lasts if the volume is low and no bass which I think defeats the purpose of the speaker and should at least be included in the description. Who is buying a speaker to keep it at a low volume?

Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that our JBL Grip did not meet your expectations regarding the battery life. We value your input and we'll make sure to share your feedback with the appropriate team. Our JBL Grip has a published up to playtime of 14 hours which is the maximum battery time you will get when listening at background levels, and how long the battery lasts depends on volume and music content. The recommended charge time for our Grip is 3 hours. Please try to charge the battery to 100% and then listen to music without any bass boosted, and at a very low volume. If the battery lasts close to the published up to playtime, the battery is working fine. However, if you get less than 90% of the published spec, please contact our customer support directly so we can assist you further.

It emits a powerful sound for something so small and was easy to set up to sync with the bluetooth on our phones.

The battery don’t last they basically just selling the brand

We appreciate your feedback. It is possible that the battery is losing its capacity. However, it is also possible that the battery is working correctly, but depletes more quickly when the volume is very loud and/or the bass has been boosted. Please try this experiment: Charge the battery to 100% and then listen to music without any bass boosted, and at a very low volume. If the battery lasts close to the published up-to playtime ( up to 14hours using playtime boost feature), the battery is working fine. However, if you get less than 90% of the published spec, this likely means that the battery is losing its capacity. Note: Battery playtime also decreases as the battery ages. Should you determine that the battery is losing its capacity, please contact us for further assistance.

Small but powerful
I have always wanted this speaker, but didnt want to buy one because I kept telling myself I didn’t need it but once I had it, it was great. We use it everywhere. We use on the Golf Course. We use it for backyard. It’s small, but it’s powerful.

Smaller then I expected but puts out some good sound. Its incredibly easy to use and the sound is strong for its size. IP68 rating is awesome. For the price range and size with all the features this is the best speaker on the market today.

How much JBL grip over a week now it’s perfect great face great quality we have the volume mid-level last 14 hours if you blast it obviously the battery runs down after about 6 hours when on full high volume not to small and it beats having headphones on your head. In this hot weather Would recommend great base great mid range perfect.
