Q: How many watts is speaker?

submitted by Sis - 1 month ago

  • A: Bose does not publish these specifications. The reason for this is that we believe such statistics do not add very much to an understanding of an audio product's acoustic characteristics and, even worse, can be misleading. Audio manufacturers make these measurements independent of industry standards, and in varying conditions. Additionally, a single statistic is not a reliable measurement of a product's performance. One could, for instance, find a very expensive system with exactly the same specifications as a much less expensive system. On paper, the two would appear identical. The difference in performance, however, would be significant. A better approach, we feel, is to listen to the product. We strongly urge you to make your own comparisons. Bose systems will surpass your expectations.

Great portable speaker

This is a quality Bose product. The speaker is made of a nonslip material and has a thick rope loop. I am comfortable taking this speaker anywhere as I can sit it or hang it anywhere I want. The sound from this speaker is amazing! It definitely meets the expectations I have from Bose. It's like a smaller version of the cinema. The sound is crisp, clear, and has a distinct sound that I have only noticed with Bose products. The battery life is exceptional, even when I use the speaker as a portable charger for my phone. I like that my phone battery will not die before the speaker. I also connect my SoundLink Plus to my Bose Smart Soundbar using SIMPLESYNC. I was only able to group two Bose products at once; the soundbar and the SoundLink Plus. I was unable to add a third speaker by connecting my SoundLink Micro to this group. When two products are linked, the individual volumes can be adjusted or both volumes can be adjusted at the same time.

I bought this speaker after buying the Bose Flex 2 because I was so impressed with the Flex 2 sound quality. The Soundlink Plus is bigger with bigger sound. The quality of sound without distortion at higher levels is excellent. The battery life is much longer, depending on the volume used and with the Bose app, you can adjust the equalizer to fit your tastes. I'm never disappointed with Bose products and this lives up to the Bose reputation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to get this up and running! After a quick charge, I was able to connect it to my phone easily. I had the smaller version and the sound quality is better on this one so far. It isn’t loud enough to cover my whole backyard, but it’s enough for by the pool!

This speaker is the perfect balance for size and portability! The over all rubberized coating and large rubber base and rope woven handle and hanging loop really speaks to how rugged this speaker really is when you finally get it in the hand and can feel the high quality materials and construction in person! I have taken this on several camping trips and road trips and it is the perfect companion for the golf cart, side by side, and bike rides with its water rating and dirt resistance! Very easy clean up with a simple wipe down and you’re back in action! The ease of use with the interface and connection and quick access buttons on top make this speaker a 10 in the segment! The Bose app ties everything together with EQ adjustments and other fine tuning settings that make this a nice package to start. Bose always adds some other futures later on if needed or requested also which is a huge plus for longevity and end user support! Linking with other Bose products could turn this unit into a “whole house” audio system with a huge portability factor and future upgrade potential to add the next new speaker later. At loud or max volumes is the only place where some strain is noticed, but the internal sound processing handles the loud requests well with no clipping or distortion but less overall bass which is to be expected with speakers this size. The sound is superb at medium to medium high levels as far as acoustic design allows. Over all a very nice upgrade to the portable Bose line-up!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The speaker works beautifully! The volume gets VERY loud, I didn't want to turn it up all the way. The speaker is user friendly. The app was easy to connect to. Cool that you can adjust the equalizer. I wouldn't say it's portable due to it's size. Weight feels like 5-10 lbs.

Double SL Plus, Double the stereo sound power!

Bought a second SL Plus speaker and it's definitely my best decision. I'm very satisfied with hearing powerful sound, with deep, crystal-clear bass, in every corner of my patio, by the pool, or in my workout room. They're lightweight enough to carry everywhere. I'll soon be traveling abroad, and they'll definitely be the first thing I throw in my suitcase for those get-togethers and parties I plan to have when I arrive with my family. I highly recommend them—in fact, it's super important to have at least one; you won't regret it!

Customization is Key

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The box was nice which was a great first impression. I was surprised that it instructed me to download an app. For the speaker! Once it was up and running, the app allowed for customization of sound which is really nice for an avid listener. It doesn’t connect like a regular speaker though, my partner had a hard time getting her own phone to connect without the app and it automatically connects to my phone through the app. I’m not sure how “passable” the “aux” is but it’s possible. I took this to the beach and it was dope, lasted hours on a full charge and didn’t waiver in the heat. The speaker is kind of heavy so I didn’t worry about it falling, and the handle does help with the weight to carry it. It’s a great speaker, base is bumping, and if you don’t like that, you can adjust that in the app!! Really nice speaker

New Everyday Speaker on the Boat, Beach or Patio

5 out of 5 stars
Westpalmpug - 1 month ago

I picked this up about five weeks ago, and honestly—I love this speaker. So does my wife. It’s quickly become our go-to for everything from morning routines to boat days and backyard hangs. And trust me, that’s saying something. We already have TVs with soundbars, computer speakers, a vinyl setup with dedicated speakers, surround sound in the living room, and a portable speaker that usually follows us around the bedroom, garage, or patio. My wife has teased me for years about having “too many” speakers—but even she admits this one’s started replacing most of them. What makes it stand out? It’s beefy and punches (dude way to describe it guess)—in the best way. It’s got a little physical weight to it, sure, but I’m really talking about the sound output. There’s a noticeable depth in the bass, strength in mids, and clarity in the highs that you don’t usually get from portable gear. It can absolutely fill a room, and outdoors it holds its own just as well. You can also tweak the highs/mids/lows to your music or liking, which I tend to do depending on the mood or playlist. Whether it’s acoustic rock or a 90s hip hop throwback, it sounds really strong and the “audiophile” in hates to say this but it sounds great just pushing them all to 10 and letting it go. You can clip it to a bag, but expect it to hang off the side or sit best when attached to a MOLLE-style strap or loop—it’s not ultralight, but kinda the point on this one I guess. I had to jigger it a bit on my day to day bag and ended up just shoving it inside for my one of my bags that didn’t have a good molle situation I could strap in. I’m a scuba diver and brought it on two dive boats. In both cases, the captain ended up using this speaker instead of their own system, broadcasting music from the captain’s nest to the entire deck. I didn’t test whether it floats—didn’t want to risk it—but I held it soaking wet and poured water over it while it was playing, and it had zero issues. Still jammed out without any problems. After diving, I clipped it to my soaked gear bag, walked off the boat, and kept the music going all the way to the car. That’s not something I’d trust most gear with at this price point. It was such a great little vibe as I had this really great jam session and it was really covered in salt water in a wet bag. It was a cool demonstration of what makes it a solid device. ⸻ Pros • Full, rich sound with great clarity and real bass • Adjustable highs/mids/lows to match your music style • Rugged and waterproof—genuinely outdoor-ready • Can sync with other SoundLink speakers if you have them • Solid build that feels premium and reliable Cons • A bit heavy (but worth it for the quality) • Bigger than many portables—more of a block than a pocket speaker • Picks up light scuffs on the exterior (adds character IMO, but some may care) • The rope loop is thick—standard carabiners don’t fit, so I had to rig a custom clip ⸻ If you want a speaker that actually feels like it’s built to be used—anywhere, any time—with sound that punches above its weight, this one’s been a fantastic pickup.

Excellent sound quality for the portability

I do a lot of art with various mediums, and having a quality portable speaker is a must because my hands are usually messy and taking headphones on and off while you have soldering flux gel or ceramics glazes all over your hands is a no-go. I've had portable speakers over the years, even one from bose, and this is my favorite one by far. My husband steals this all the time for his garage workouts, he loves it too. The speaker is loud and powerful enough to combat his feral weightlifting grunts and the weights hitting the ground when he drops the bar like an animal (eye roll) after hitting a tough life. If he ever accidentally drops the bar on the speaker I'll be sure to update this review on whether it survived. PROS -sound, sound, sound. This is honestly the best sound I've ever experienced out of a portable speaker. The depth and clarity of the audio is almost as good as over-the-ear headphones, there is that much detail and crispness to the sound. It was honestly surprising; I never assume I'm getting the best sound quality from a portable speaker, because that's one of the concessions you make. I've owned countless portable speakers over the years, and none even came close to this. -ease of use. The product was super easy to connect out of the box, and was easy to pair to multiple devices. My husband and I both connected our phones and use the speaker seamlessly. -battery life. I actually used this speaker for an 11 hour drive in a company car that had a busted stereo, and the battery only depleted maybe 50% that whole ride. I tested it and the speaker also charges via USB hooked up to the car, so it seems easy to charge on the go. And it sounded great in the car. -portability. I like how compact it is for the sound you get, and I love the carrying loop - it feels very sturdy and substantial. It's very easy to pick up with one hand by the loop. CONS -weight/size. This lil baby is definitely a chonker in terms of a portable speaker. Not an issue for me moving around to workspaces or my home gym, but it's not going to be the easiest thing to throw in your bag for a picnic at the end of a hike. What you get in sound and battery life more than justifies the size/weight, but if you're looking for something small to have on your person a lot, this is probably not the thing. -suuuuuuper bassy by default. This thing has the bass WAY boosted in the default settings. I know lots of people love a really bassy sound, but I do NOT like that, and it's annoying to me that I need to manually adjust the settings to get a "normal" sound. I'm talking so bassy that I tried listening to a podcast with the default settings, and the podcast host's voice was insanely bassy/booming. Overall I definitely recommend this speaker.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE this speaker. It fits all of my needs for a portable speaker: great battery life, easy connections, and lightweight. The sound is full, detailed, and crisp and the low end is strong without being overwhelming. By far the best portable speaker we have owned. It is comparable to our in-home studio monitors. I have been using it in my backyard and took it with me to the beach and it worked perfectly for both locations. I love the blue color, and it is easy to clean.
