Lasts forever, packs a punch

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my new favorite speaker. I love having the shoulder strap. I have never had this on a speaker before and I like it much more than I expected. One less thing to carry and I do not have to compromise on sound. The battery life is impressive. I took this out for a weekend and never had to recharge it despite falling asleep with it on overnight. It feels very sturdy like most JBL speakers do. I appreciate the build quality. Sound quality and bass in particular is far superior to speakers that fit in a bag. If you have not upgraded your portable in a while this likely outperforms much larger options as well. The LED lighting is cool, but I would prefer to turn it off. I doubt it affects battery life at all, but every percent counts. The app pairing is mandatory. EQ presets make a big difference if you’re switching between EDM, Podcasts/Audiobooks, and other less bass heavy styles of music. Overall great product. I love this thing!

Great speaker for a good time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The speaker is a decent size. The weight of the speaker is perfect for carrying around. The sling it comes with is very sturdy, convenient and comfortable. The sound is very powerful, clear, and precise. The ability to connect devices like a mic is a great feature. Exactly what I would expect from this company.

My Favorite JBL Portable - Big, Loud, and Unmistakably JBL

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I want to start this review by saying that the JBL Xtreme 5 is my favorite portable speaker JBL has put out. I’ve owned quite a few of them over the years, and this one just hits all the right notes. It’s loud, it’s clear, and it delivers that classic JBL sound, which, at the end of the day is why we’re buying speakers in the first place. Let’s talk about the sound because that’s what matters most. The Xtreme 5 gets really loud! Even at higher volumes, everything stays clean and controlled. The bass has plenty of punch without being overwhelming, the mids come through clearly, and the highs are crisp without being harsh. One of the albums I spent some time with was the Steven Wilson mix of Ultravox’s Lament. I know that record pretty well, and it’s a great test because there’s a lot going on: layered synths, driving base, and Midge Ure’s vocals sitting right in the middle. The Xtreme 5 handled it beautifully – the low end had real weight without muddying up the mix, the mids carried the vocals cleanly, and the top end let all those synth textures breathe. I felt I had to go back to a familiar speaker test track: “Money for Nothing” from Dire Straits’ Brothers in Arms. That track has been a go-to test for me for years. The opening has that slow build, and when the drums and guitar kick in, you really get a sense of how a speaker handles dynamics. The Xtreme 5 didn’t disappoint. The bass and drums had real punch, Mark Knopfler’s guitar cut through cleanly, and everything stayed composed even when I push the volume. After that one, I went back a few years in the 80’s to Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight.” That track is all about “that moment” – you know exactly what moment I’m talking about – and the Xtreme 5 handled it exactly the way I was hoping! When the drums hit, they had real impact and depth without sounding sloppy, overblown, or distorted. It’s a quick way to tell if a speaker can deliver both control and power, and this one absolutely can. On all three and honestly, I can keep listing more and more, I got the classic JBL sound I’ve been loving since my first pair of J216’s in the mid 80s. Build quality is exactly what you’d expect from JBL’s Xtreme line. This unit is solid, rugged, and clearly built to take some abuse. This is the kind of speaker you bring out to the patio, the beach, or a backyard get-together without worrying about it. We had it front and center at the annual Beach Bum parade – the South’s biggest water gun fight - where floats soak bystanders who fight back with their own water, blasters and bazookas – and it didn’t miss a beat. It got wet and was still rocking! All that said, it’s not exactly a speaker you’re going to want to carry around all day. It’s got some weight to it, and while that likely helps with the build and sound, it does make it less ideal as a true grab-and-go speaker. For me, this feels more like a “set it down and enjoy it” portable rather than something you’re constantly moving with. Battery life was solid in my use, and connectivity was simple, pairing quickly, and keeping a stable connection throughout. One thing worth pointing out is that mine came with the AC adapter, but that’s not the case everywhere. From what I’ve read, some regions (like Europe) don’t include one in the box. I don’t think it’s a dealbreaker, but it’s something to be aware of since you’ll want the right power adapter to get the best charging performance. Wrapping up, the Xtreme 5 is a fantastic sounding portable speaker that delivers exactly what you’d expect from JBL: volume, clarity, and that signature sound profile. It’s built like a tank and performs like one too. The only real downside for me is the weight, but if you’re looking for a powerful speaker for home use, outdoor gatherings, or anywhere portability isn’t the top priority, this one is absolutely worth a look. I’ve owned quite a few JBL portables over the years, going all the way back to the original Flip, plus a Flip 4, Charge 3, three Flip 6’s, and even a Clip 5 I travel with (I also have an Authentics 300, though that’s not really portable), and this is my favorite of the group. It does everything well, and for what it’s designed to do, it’s hard to beat.

Packs a Punch

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am completely blown away, by how well this was designed. I literally carry this thing around and play music on it and can set it down wherever on my lot of land. I have 2 acres and I can hear it throughout the property. The bass packs a huge punch. It's that JBL quality that you expect. I played this for over 20 hours and did not have to charge. If you are looking for something to replace a subpar speaker this is it.

Powerful sound, easy setup, perfect for gatherings!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Xtreme 5 is exactly what you would expect from JBL, but cleaner and more powerful than previous versions. The sound is loud without getting muddy. The bass hits so hard, and it still sounds balance, even at higher volumes. Whether it’s music in the backyard, a bonfire, garage hangs, or just around the house, it fills the space really well without sounding distorted. Battery life is nothing short of amazing. I can go hours without even thinking about charging it. The Build quality feels so durable too, which is huge if you’re moving around a lot. Love having the strap to go around your shoulder or neck, because due to the size, it can be challenging sometimes if you don’t have a proper way to move it around. The Easy Sing Mic was actually more fun than I expected. Super easy to pair and use right out of the box. Vocals come through surprisingly clear and the echo/vocal effects make karaoke nights way more entertaining without feeling cheesy. It’s definitely more of a casual fun set up than a professional vocal system, but for parties, family, gatherings, or just messing around with friends, it does the job really well. I even used the magnetic feature to clip onto my shirt for content videos for social media. Overall, JBL nailed the combo. The speaker sounds premium, the Mike has a fun social element, and together they make an awesome set up for parties, tailgates, camping trips, or just turning a regular night into a good time!

All the most fun JBL features in one mega tube

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As always, crisp and clear JBL signature sound at all volume levels. This Extreme gets too loud to play at max levels indoors, and outside can be heard clearly from 75 feet away. It looks and is shaped like the Charge series speakers, only 4x larger and 5x louder, and also has the charging feature. This speaker adds a fully controllable light show with many different patterns and colors to select from, sort of like two moving lines of the Pulse light show speaker added on to it. The light show and the equalizer are controlled by the “JBL Portable” app that offers 4 preset EQ’s and a fully customizable equalizer. So flexible! The light show has preset patterns and an infinite color wheel for your color of choice, and can be turned off completely. Bluetooth v6 connects instantly to my phone, and remains stable all throughout my house without skipping or dropping. Setup is easy and charging is quick with the included 20v/4a USB-C charger. The strap that comes with it is a little clunky but there are many aftermarket handles out there or you could get crafty and easily create your own. Battery life is crazy long, 24 hours at low volume but the app has a “playtime boost” feature that seems to sacrifice some sound quality for an extra 4 hours playtime for a possible 28 hours of music. This one connects to other speakers through AuraCast, kind of annoying that some of my older JBL’s won’t connect but hopefully firmware updates will solve this. Get this speaker, it’s the all-in-one banger for big beautiful sound!!

True portable party speaker!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Extreme 5 is an awesomely loud speaker! The straps make it super easy to carry around, and it performed amazingly during a bay boat ride; the audio was clear and the bass deep even with the wind and water. The speaker connected easily to a JBL microphone, this is a true portable party speaker. The bass is deep, the midst are crystal clear and overall the speaker delivers excellent sound with a great battery life. Definitely recommend!

A portable speaker to have in your listening toolbox

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Xtreme5 is a nice portable Bluetooth speaker to have in your audio listening toolbox. Setup was quick and easy. It feels to be around 15lbs but comes with a strap to help carry that weight. It's waterproof so it's durable for the pool or beach. It sounds good but performs great when I use Auracast to connect to my partybox speaker.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Amazing speaker! Great for outdoor activities. It’s loud enough to have outside by the pool or to take on the lake. Also not having to worry about water getting on it or having it break if you drop it is a huge plus! G

JBL Xtreme 5 : Powerful Bass, Stunning Clarity & Endless Entertainment. Impressive, Vivid, Compelling Sound that makes you want to listen to all your favourite Songs; again!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] JBL Xtreme 5 Review – Absolutely Stunning Sound Right out of the box, the JBL Xtreme 5 feels incredibly solid and well-built. It comes with a carrying strap and an international power adaptor, and everything about it feels premium and high quality. JBL clearly paid attention to the overall user experience. Setup was effortless. Once powered on, the speaker connected to my phone quickly via Bluetooth, and the JBL app detected it almost instantly. The app also checks for software updates automatically, which makes the whole process seamless. Now for the most important part — the sound. The sound quality is absolutely stunning. It’s vivid, powerful, and completely captivating. I honestly have not heard bass this deep from any speaker of this size before. The low frequencies are incredibly impressive without overwhelming the mids and highs, which remain clear, detailed, and well balanced. This speaker has that rare quality where it makes you want to keep listening to music for hours. It actually made me revisit many of my favourite songs just to hear how good they sound on it. Battery life also seems excellent — it feels like it just keeps going and going. When connected to the dedicated power adaptor, the speaker becomes even more powerful, with an additional 40 watts of output, which makes an already impressive speaker sound even bigger. It outputs 90 Watts RMS from a 98 x 140 mm Woofer, and 40 Watt RMS from 2 x 20 mm when connected to the power adaptor. Another standout design feature is the dual passive radiators located on both sides of the speaker. They are highly responsive and visibly move with the music, adding a satisfying visual element while helping deliver the deep, powerful bass that this speaker is capable of. The JBL Xtreme 5 also features dual LED light strips that add to the overall experience. Through the JBL Portable app, you can customize the lighting effects, choose different colours, and select various lighting styles to match the mood of your music One highlight was how easy it was to connect the JBL Easy Sing Mini Mic. Simply hold down the play button while plugging in the mic’s dongle, and the speaker confirms the connection with a clear sound prompt. After that, it instantly transforms into a fantastic karaoke setup. The karaoke experience is incredibly fun and effortless, and combined with the powerful sound quality, it makes this speaker even more versatile. The adjustable carrying strap that is included is rugged and durable and JBL has made it feel premium. Overall, the JBL Xtreme 5 is an absolutely impressive speaker that keeps you wanting to listen to more music. It makes your favourite songs feel fresh again, and I’m already looking forward to getting a second one to pair via JBL Auracast. Highly recommended - an outstanding speaker that delivers endless hours of listening pleasure and keeps you coming back for more.

Best Portable Speaker I have Come Across Yet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Xtreme 5 is probably the best portable speaker I have ever come across. The speaker quality is so incredibly crisp and can have a strong bass, depending on how you set it in the JBL app. I love that it is also so easy to use. The second I turn it on, the speaker is able to connect Bluetooth super quick to my phone, which is usually not the case with portable speakers. The speaker also feels super sturdy, which is a plus but also has drawbacks. It is heavier than other speakers but to be honest this speaker is so good it could just be used as a home speaker - at least that is how I plan on using it. Finally, this speaker is super easy to maintain with occasional updates provided by JBL for its other accessories like the karaoke mic that can also be purchased.

Insane Bass, Rugged Build & Perfect for Outdoor Us

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the JBL Xtreme 5 for a few weeks now, and the sound quality is seriously impressive. The bass is deep and powerful, while vocals stay crystal clear even at high volume. It easily fills both indoor and outdoor spaces with rich sound without distortion. The build quality feels premium and rugged. I really liked the waterproof and dustproof design since it makes the speaker perfect for poolside use, camping, and outdoor gatherings. The shoulder strap also makes it easier to carry around despite the size. One of my favorite features is how well it works with the JBL EasySing Mic Mini. Pairing was quick and seamless, and it instantly turned into a fun karaoke setup during family gatherings. The mic quality is clear, and everyone enjoyed using it. Battery life has also been excellent for long listening sessions and parties. Overall, the JBL Xtreme 5 feels like a complete premium portable speaker with powerful sound, durable build quality, and fun karaoke compatibility. Highly recommended for music lovers and party use.

If battery life is important to you, the JBL Xtrem

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m really impressed with the JBL Xtreme 5. The sound is super clean and crisp, and it gets plenty loud without sounding distorted. We used it outside for hours and the battery barely moved, which was a pleasant surprise. Huge bonus that it’s waterproof and dustproof too (with IP86 ratings), which will be great for our upcoming camping trips. Another feature I really like is that you can link it with other JBL products that have Auracast capabilities. Instant surround sound 😀 Overall, this speaker has been awesome so far and I’m seriously excited to use it more this summer.

Big sound in a medium/small package

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My video doesn’t do this justice. The JBL Xtreme 5 is a beefy, loud heavy duty, high quality portable speaker. It’s easy to set up and has amazing sound. I’ll be taking this on the boat, on picnics, and to office parties. The sound quality is amazing with a deep bass and crisp treble. The battery lasts plenty long enough. The Xtreme 5 is a durable party speaker that sounds amazing with any music genre. I definitely enjoy its versatility. Still small enough to take anywhere, but sounds huge. Love it!

As always JBL - Just Buy and you will Love it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] **Volume & Sound Quality** The sound is truly awesome. JBL upgraded the internals for this 5th generation (it now pushes up to 130W plugged in), and you can absolutely feel the power. The bass is deep and punchy, but the AI Sound Boost keeps the vocals and highs crystal clear even when you crank the volume to the max. Whether it’s the roar of the crowd during a cricket match, heavy movie dialogue, or blasting my favorite songs, this speaker handles it effortlessly. **Setup & Connectivity** Setup was practically non-existent. I primarily use it connected to my Firestick to watch movies and live cricket, and the Bluetooth 6.0 connection is flawless. There is zero noticeable audio-video lag, which is crucial for sports and films. Switching over from the Firestick to my phone to stream music is instant and seamless. **The Karaoke Experience** A huge bonus: I paired this with the new JBL Mic Easy Sing Mini, and it was a truly amazing experience. The mic’s AI vocal removal and effects, combined with the massive, room-filling sound of the Xtreme 5, instantly turned my living room into a flawless karaoke setup. If you like singing along to your tracks, picking up the Easy Sing Mini alongside this speaker is an absolute must. **Build Quality** Right out of the box, the Xtreme 5 feels incredibly rugged. It's on the heavier side (over 6 lbs), but the rubber bumpers and the included shoulder strap make it easy to lug around. The IP68 waterproof and dust-proof rating gives serious peace of mind if you plan to take it outside. The new ambient edge lighting is also a fantastic touch that adds a really cool, customizable vibe without being distracting while watching TV. **Value** It’s a premium investment, but the versatility makes it worth every penny. Between the massive 28-hour battery life, the ability to use it as a power bank, and the sheer audio horsepower, you are getting what you pay for. It easily pulls double duty as a dedicated soundbar replacement for a Firestick setup and a portable party speaker. **Final Verdict:** Highly recommended if you want heavy-hitting, versatile sound for both media consumption and music.

JBL Xtreme 5 is Extremely Satisfying

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A phenomenal portable speaker by JBL. The bass and bass boost along with the sound quality of this lightweight portable speaker makes it our go to for our outdoor adventures. It is waterproof and dustproof so we take this on our paddleboards. Makes for a great time. The speaker box case has has some rubberized protective areas and the strap is heavy duty. The strap clips are made out of steel, no worry about them breaking when transporting the Xtreme 5. It stays charged for roughly 25 hours and if you plug it in for 10 minutes you'll get 2 hours of music. The ambient light around the bottom and top of the speaker box is a nice elegant touch. Connecting to my Android phone was instantaneous. We also connected a JBL Mic Mini to the speaker box and it was cristal clear. Karaoke is way better in this box with the Mic Mini. Our granddaughters loved it. The JBL Xtreme has all the right stuff for our lifestyle. The most important features to us was the phenomenal sound quality (adjustable through the JBL App), portability, and waterproof. Highly Recommended
