I have used this hair straightener for almost a year now and I love it! The auto shut off and variable heat temperatures are both very useful. I curl my hair every morning with it because curling irons do not get hot enough. When I use this, my curls will last all day. The only problems I have with the straightener so far is that its heat capacity is fading a little. I find myself having to go up a heat setting every few months. Also, while the white exterior is cute, it has yellowed quite a bit.
I have very frizzy and wavy hair and have been flat ironing my hair since I was a teenager. For the last 15 years or so I have been using the CHI brand which I absolutely love. For Christmas a family member bought me the Kristen Ess Flat iron and had told me that it had great reviews so I was excited to use it. I have now been using this flat iron for the last three week and I am EXTREMELY disappointed. Using my CHI, I can normally flat iron my hair in about 5 minutes or so and I always end up with smooth, straight hair. Using the Kristen Ess flat iron take me two to three times longer to straighten my hair and it does absolutely nothing for my frizz. Not to mention I have to crank it up to 400 degrees, which I know is really bad for your hair. I never had to have my CHI set that high. If this weren't a gift from a family member I would have returned it immediately. My recommendation is to spend the extra $20 or so and buy a CHI flat iron.
When I initially read the reviews for this product I thought they must be fake, but this flat iron really is as amazing as everyone says. I thought as I got older my hair was getting more textured and that it would never straighten or curl like it used to. Turns out, I just needed a different tool. This straightens and curls my hair better than any hot tool I've ever used, including Chi and Sedu flat irons. I love it and highly recommend it!
Ok first off when I opened the box there was scruff marks all over the straightener. It looked like it had been used before, and I am pretty sure it had been. On the plates there was build up from what I assume was hair spray... I thought if someone returned it I better try it myself before I exchange for a new one. It does not work well at all, I could have purchased a cheap Conair one that would have worked better. I always curl my hair with a flat iron and this one pulled little strands out of my hair. Will not recommend at all!! Save your money for sure!!!
First off, I was really excited for this purchase because I already own the Kristin Ess curling iron and LOVE it, but I was majorly disappointed in this purchase. The very first time I used it, it would turn off randomly during use. As in, every time I tried to straighten one section it would turn off. I thought maybe it was user error, but there's no way to press and hold the off button (that's located on the inside of the flat iron) while straightening your hair. I tried different heat temperatures. I even tried different outlets. No luck. Unfortunately, I can't return it because it's already out of the box and been used. I can't donate it either because it doesn't work. It was a complete waste of money, and now I'll be returning to CHI - a brand I know won't sell me a default product from the start.
