Description

The thing I love about this formula most is that it gets your hair super clean but also leaves it feeling
moisturized and looking shiny. It's hard to find a shampoo, particularly a sulfate-free shampoo, that does both really well.

Lather, rinse, repeat! You know the drill right?!

How to:
1. Depending on the thickness of your hair, dispense a dime to quarter-sized amount
into your palm.
2. Apply to wet hair, massaging into the scalp to create a rich lather.
3. Rinse clean and repeat if necessary.
Tip: If my hair is extra oily or has a lot of product in it, I like to shampoo twice.

Contains Zip-Up Technology, our proprietary strengthening complex designed to "zip-up" split ends while targeting weak areas of the hair, smoothing the appearance of damaged cuticles and helping to protect hair from environmental stressors and color fade.

I'm not sure I've ever written a review before but this shampoo and conditioner were so disappointing, I had to warn others from buying it. I've never really struggled with dandruff, but after using this shampoo and its corresponding conditioner, I started to experience white particles in my hair, scalp itchiness, and lost much more hair than I normally do. I switched back to a tried and true shampoo/conditioner brand and already my scalp feels better. I'm not sure if it's the fragrance or the fact that there are no sulfates, but regardless, I couldn't finish using them.

Please, PLEASE do not use these products! I purchased these about two years ago mid-pandemic, hoping to find an affordable hair care system of salon-quality, with good clarifying properties, body, and conditioning. Prior to these, I had been alternating between Biolage, Matrix's Sugar Shine system, and Eleven Hair Care, all with excellent results. My hair grew just above waist length by this point in the pandemic as well, as I wasn't regularly using heat tools anymore. Anyway - because Kristen Ess is offered through Target, I completely trusted that it would be a quality purchase and made a blind leap of faith. Purchased both The One shampoo and signature conditioner. Absolutely loved the texture and scent at first and thought I'd found a great option. HOWEVER - within about two months, I noticed my scalp starting to itch on the regular, something I'd never experienced with previous products. The itching turned to flaking, and not small dandruff, but rather large, scaly patches and flakes. My husband started to notice thinning and red patches on my crown, and visible scaly patches along the nape of my neck. It was horrendous, so I quit using the products. That didn't matter, as damage was done. My hair started breaking off, becoming extremely dry - these products completely changed the texture and health of my actual hair. My scalp started developing stabbing issues from the patches and open sores that would form on their own without scratching. As I type this, I'm getting chills from remembering just how bad it was. There was so much hair loss, scalp shedding, and burning/itching from just a few months of using Kristen Ess' products that I am still now, in January 2023, recovering a healthy head of hair and scalp. My hair growth seems stunted and the new hairs growing back are so short, it is obvious there was hair loss. The itching mostly went away after I stopped using these products, but the sores, scabbing, and scaly/flaky patches didn't heal for months, making this a year plus long ordeal. I now have regular issues with dandruff, something I'd never experienced prior to using these. Overall, please let this be a cautionary tale: the grass is NOT always greener due to shiny, liminal packaging, and Target ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TO RECONSIDER CARRYING THIS PRODUCT LINE. Very disappointed and saddened by this entire experience. Would give zero stars if that was even an option.

Even when I follow up with a hair mask this shampoo dries my scalp out to the extreme. It is incredibly stripping almost to a fault. If you have oily hair it might not be as bad for you but personally this shampoo is way to drying!

I wish I would’ve read the reviews before wasting my money, time, and HAIR on this product. It’s awful. Super fragranced, and lost so much hair bc of it 😣 I used this for four months before realizing it was this product that was causing me to lose clumps of hair in the shower. Awful product. Do not recommended. Would not give it one star if I could.

I didn’t think of checking the reviews before I bought this and I wish I did. I have been losing hair LIKE CRAZY for the past month. I’m only half way through the small bottles too. I’m so happy that I caught onto this now and have stopped using these products. I was so concerned about my sudden hair loss that I scheduled an appointment with my doctor thinking it was a health issue. My hair has always been long and beautiful, zero issues until I started using this. Don’t waste your money or jeopardize your confidence with this product. RUN.

Love Their Dry Shampoo, HATE Their Actual Shampoo

I bought this about a month ago because I had run out of my normal shampoo and conditioner and have loved their dry shampoo. I typically have very thick, straight hair. However, after using this shampoo semi regularly, I have noticed my hair feeling flat with immense frizz. Running to the stores to find another shampoo and conditioner after reading reviews that mention their hair falling out.

I’m shocked by all the bad reviews! I absolutely love this shampoo and conditioner combo. My hair smells amazing, people comment on it all the time and how shiny it makes my hair. For reference I have very dense fine hair, I’m very low maintenance, rarely use heat on my hair and only wash twice a week.

I'm opting out of spending $32 for 8oz of a "luxury brand" shampoo...I've been a fan for years, but that price point - for shampoo!! - is just ridiculous. Enter Kristin Ess. I'm late to her party, but discovered a YT'er with fine hair using several of her products & so I did my research. Excellent price point on her line, accessible. I first purchased travel sized shampoo & conditioner - LOVED them! Personally, I think the scent is beautiful, feminine, clean, not overpowering but it does linger - I like that. I have naturally fine, one straight hair, healthy & plenty of it; my hair felt fresh, clean & soft after using these products. Detangled easily (I always comb my conditioner through my hair while in shower). Combined with other Kristin Ess styling products, my hair both air dried nicely & looked stellar after blow drying/curling/whatever style I was into that day. Beware of these off-putting reviews about hair falling out - some have the same exact photo with a different user name...weird. Try them for yourself & form your own opinion. Personally, I just saved a whole lotta $$$ switching to Kristen Ess & the results I'm getting are absolutely comparable to a much higher-priced brand. Thanks, Kristin Ess & Target!

I went from olaplex to this shampoo because I no longer needed the excessive product olaplex has. For reference I have all natural hair, I have been using this shampoo for 2 months now and each time I have used it I noticed A LOT of hair falling out IN THE SHOWER!! I’m honestly so oblivious and mad I kept using it. Don’t buy this. If you do try it but if your hair falls out in the shower don’t keep using it like I did.

I'm surprised to see this has given people so many problems :/ it's worked really well for me. I go a week between washing, have dense, fine, and pretty straight color-treated hair and the color stays pretty well. I left 4 stars because it's not exactly life changing, but I've repurchased a few times and it does the job in a way I like.

Terrible! Like other reviews, I started noticing tons of my hair coming out while using this. I also felt like my hair was so tangled all the time. I initially didn’t realize it was because of this shampoo until I started reading the reviews. This stuff is absolute trash.

LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS. It cannot be a coincidence that so many of us have been experiencing hair thinning and shedding. I have naturally thick, super wavy hair and have NEVER had a problems with loosing hair. A couple weeks ago I decided to use the signature shampoo + conditioner and every time I take a shower, strand after strand just comes off. I don’t even have to try. I barely touch a strand it falls out. My husband said he noticed an unusual amount of his hair falling out too after using it. I am literally appalled and disgusted. Seriously, someone needs to sue this company.
