Q: Why doesn’t my three star rating of this item appear? I found these chips to taste like butterscotch chip which is good, but my family did not find them to have a maple flavor.

If I could give these a “0” I would. I was so excited to try these. EPIC FAIL!!! There’s not a hint of “maple”. Nothing! These are over dyed Butterscotch flavored. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.

No maple flavor after baking.
These were such a disappointment. If you eat them straight out of the bag, there is maple flavor. Once you bake them, however there is nomaple flavor. They also have a very odd color.

Just soft, dark butterscotch chips.
I only tried these straight out of the bag, so I can't speak to their flavor or texture after baking. When eaten out of the bag, these are just oddly soft, dark orange butterscotch chips. They don't taste like maple. They're yummy if you don't mind artificial butterscotch flavor, but nothing special. Giving two stars because they taste good to me, but are not as described.

I was so excited to try these, and SO disappointed to find out they aren’t maple chips at all! These are just butterscotch chips, and not even good ones at that. Chemically and waxy, probably partially due to the ridiculous amount of food coloring in them that will stain your teeth for days. They also don’t melt well at all. Literally just a fall marketing ploy to get you to spend more on the same stuff you can buy year round

Amazing, made a chocolate chip cookie recipe and added the maple chips in place of the chocolate chips. For fun, added some candy corns to decorate. So yummy even ate straight out of the bag. Love being able to bake with another flavor.

BEWARE - turn your teeth yellow
These are very tasty BUT they will turn your tongue orange and teeth yellow! I ate about 12 chips and this happened. I’ve brushed my teeth twice and now using a whitening strip because they’re still stained yellow .. beware!

No maple flavor
I bought these for my dad because he loves new flavors to add to his cookies. One thing to know is you don't want to have these shipped if you live in warmer weather because they were completely melted. Target customer service gave me a full refund and told me to keep them. I purchased more in the store and when he tasted them he told me that he couldn't taste any maple flavor in them so I returned the extra ones I bought. Was really disappointed.

Not worth the hype -- bitter and weird
I bought a bag out of curiosity. They were a smidge melted (it's the desert, it happens). Smelled good, though. The taste was okay at first, but left a cloyingly bitter aftertaste... and not in a good way. Then after baking, they separated somehow? Like, there was a clear puddle of melted chip and then another puddle of some viscous liquid to the side. Very weird. Not normal baking chip/bit behavior. Definitely not something I would buy again or recommend to anyone.

Taste is okay, but they turn your mouth dark yellow/orange
Taste is good, but they turn your mouth deep yellow/orange. I bought them thinking they would make a good maple ganauce for my pecan cake. I ate 4 or 5 to check flavor and ease of melt. Everything was fine, but then I went and brushed my teeth. When I looked in the mirror my tongue and gums were a dark orange color! When I rinsed out the tooth paste, it looked like I was spitting out bile. I am not sure what this will mean for anything I make with these, but I guess I will at least warn people if I decide to use them. The package says colored with vegetables, so I am not overly worried, but thought people should know. My worst fear is creating another panic if this color issue holds through the digestive process, like that cereal in the 1960s....

Melted in transit but still tasty
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I bought these they were only available via shipping in my area. Unfortunately they arrived partially melted and resolidified making it impossible to use them as chips. I melted them down in a double boiler and added a bit of oil to make a spreadable consistency. They did not melt very smoothly but that's common with baking chips that aren't chocolate. The maple spread turned out well and made for some fun seasonal toast. These chips taste like butterscotch chips with a subtle maple flavor. I received an incentive to write this review.
