Was using this microwave after purchasing 7 months ago and it all of a sudden started smelling like cigarettes. The buttons after #3 have never worked. Now I'm out the $80 or whatever it was.

No power
No power. I got it and I plugged it in and nothing kicked on. Called Maytag to see if there was something I needed to do to set it up to get it to work and they said no the light should just automatically turn on and that what I got was broken.

This item has some kind of child lock. I have food in microwave I can never take out. What a waste of money. Don't buy this product. Even if you try to override settings, it still wont open.

Quiet, Modern, and Reliable at a Great Price!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Maytag countertop microwave is an excellent buy especially for college dorms! It runs much quieter than most microwaves, which I really appreciate, and it heats food quickly and evenly every time. The stainless steel design looks modern and fits perfectly in my kitchen. It feels sturdy and well-made, so I know it will last, and for the price, the performance and quality are hard to beat.

Microwave is good to with two issues
Works great, heats up well, there's only a couple issues I don't like trying to set the clock I find it hard to set the time took like several times to finally get it right. Also the child safety lock is a nuacense!

We appreciate your feedback. The UL mandatory two step child safety lock can be disabled by pressing and holding 0/UNLOCK key for 3 seconds. The display will indicate "Loc". Then, press 7 key followed by pressing 9 key. The display will show "ULoc".
