Q: Can you use this in a regular pot on the stove?
submitted by J - 2 months ago
A: Hello, Yes! While McCormick Slow Cooker Savory Pot Roast Seasoning Mix is specifically designed for slow cooker use, you can use it on the stove. Here’s how: Brown your meat in a skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the seasoning mix and the recommended amount of liquid (water, broth, or as directed on the package). Simmer on low to medium heat, covered, until the meat is tender—this may take less time than a slow cooker, so check periodically. Keep in mind that cooking times and liquid absorption may vary compared to the slow cooker method, but the seasoning will still impart its intended flavor. Enjoy! ~Tina

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This slow cooker mix was a hit for the whole family. I am not the biggest fan of pot roast but this mix was pretty great and makes the cooking so easy since you do not have to figure out what all spices you should use. Quick and simple, would recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] McCormick has done it again! The Slow Cooker Seasoning Mix for Savory Pot Roast is simply delicious! The mix is so easy to prepare! All I had to do was mix it with one cup of water and pour it on the roast and veggies! The amount of flavor is perfect. I didn't have to add any other spices. Some of the seasonings are salt, onion, brown sugar, basil, oregano and celery seed. I very much enjoyed this meal and plan on making it again in the near future, the whole family loved it. And I definitely would recommend this seasoning mix!! It's amazing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I made this with beef stock, chuck roast, potatoes, carrots, onions, celery and garlic. My family did enjoy the meal very much but I found it a bit salty. I would probably just use beef stock.
Definantly tasty.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family found this seasoning packet to be bland and flavorless, but was also overly salty. I ended up adding seasonings to the meat after it was cooked.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] McCormick Slow Cooker Savory Pot Roast Seasoning Mix is great. If you don't know how to make one they have a simple recipe and directions on the back. Which I followed to see how this package of seasoning taste. The only thing I did a bit different was add celery salt because I didn't have fresh celery at the time. It turned out great and was delicious. My family enjoyed it. This will be great for to quickly whip up in your slow cooker and a nice cold day to eat something warm for dinner. I would definitely buy these seasoning packets in the future.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this packet to make a roast in my crockpot, and I would absolutely recommend and buy again! Being a working mom and still needing to put dinner on the table every night can be overwhelming sometimes, but this helped take the guess work out of dinner. I put the roast, some veggies, some broth and this packet all in the crockpot and had a delicious meal by dinner time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this free from BzzAgent to try. The flavor was decent and it convenient having all of the spices in one packet, but my family and I prefer the spices I usually use on a roast instead of this.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I threw a packet of this in the crock pot with chicken and potatoes. I also used some salt and pepper. My kids loved this chicken! We do alot of crock pot meals, but they were asking for thirds on this one! I know it would be good on roast as well. I dont even think it needed the extra salt and pepper.

I grew up eating my mom's pot roast made with McCormick seasoning. After I married, I made it myself. Always great. Lately, they have changed their packaging, and also, it seems, the flavor of the seasonings. I tried the blue pkg "Beef Stew". Not right. Too tomato-y. Wrong flavor, but I might use it to make a vegetable soup. Slow Cooker Savory Pot Roast wasn't right either. So then I tried Slow Cooker Hearty Beef Stew. That might be the best, but I guess the older chefs took the old recipe with them when they died, and the newer chefs just weren't up to the task. Such a shame. I really miss the old seasoning. And it would help if they included pot roast (in a dutch oven) cooking instructions on the pkgs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The McCormick Slow Cooker Savory Pot Roast was easy for me to mix up and get my dinner going. I followed the directions putting onions, carrots and potatoes in with the meat, water and packet. It was nice having an entire dinner ready at the end of a long day. I absolutely loved the flavor of everything, especially the juices left at the bottom I used as a gravy. My husband thought it was salty but he also isn't a fan of salt. I would definitely purchase this mix and use it again.
