Q: Does the container normally have a seal on it under the cap? And is it normally not filled to the top? Bought this product a few days ago in store and then opened when I got home and didn’t see a deal on top.

submitted by Mel - 4 years ago

Purchased b/c it was non-acetone and cheaper since it was up and up brand. Did the job and needed to use a lot. Other brands that are non-acetone work the same.

I had on 3 coats of a light shade of Sally Hansen color therapy polish. No base or top coat. It took way too much of this polish remover, and a lot of work, to remover that polish. I'm pouring it out and buying my usual name brand! It may cost more, but this is more expensive in the long run because you have to use so much.

I don’t often write reviews. I had so much trouble using this on my toes that I was compelled to write a review. It did eventually get it all off, but took me so long with so much scrubbing that I questioned if something was wrong with this batch. About a year ago I switched to non-acetone nail polish, because I discovered acetone was causing keratin granulation on my toenails. In that time I have used at least one entire bottle of non-acetone remover with little to no difficulty. I can’t remember if my last bottle was this or a different brand, but I wonder if something is wrong with this batch. Last week I used it on my finger nails, and now that I am thinking of it, it did seem harder to get off than normal. But ut definitely was an extra challenge getting it off toenails due to the reach and the amount of scrubbing required.

It doesn’t work as well as an acetone nails polish remover. You have to soak your nails. I used half a bottle just to remove regular nail polish off my hands

It’s less harsh than using straight acetone, but you really have to scrub the nail polish off. I suppose you could leave it soaking to remove easier but it’s not my cup of tea. However it’s very hydrating, doesn’t damage the nail at all.

Worst Remover Ever

Brittany R - 4 months ago, Verified purchaser
This is by far the weakest remover I've ever used. It seriously took me 10 mins to remove my regular, non-gel polish. To add onto that, the peeling of my nails after. My nails are so brittle now, they have ripped and broken down to the quick on half of my nails. I've never had this happen. I chose non-acetone because I thought it would be healthier.

Does it work? Sure…after several passes and several soaked cotton balls of it, and too much time wasted. For the price, it’s what it is. But you were warned it isn’t the best lol Also leaves a white film residue on nails afterwards.

Yes, it takes more time to get the polish off with this remover. But that's an annoyance I'll happily put up with, because this product solves two bigger problems for me. I have fragile nails and acetone was making them worse. The other non-acetone remover I tried had such strong fumes it made me cough just being around the open bottle. Also, I'm very sensitive to fragrances, and I would call this lightly fragranced. Finally, a heads-up... it looks like the formulation bottled in this package has changed over the years, so older reviews may no longer be accurate.

I’m not normally someone who ever writes product reviews, so you know this was extremely bad. I spent so much time having to press very hard and scrub at each nail when trying to remove an ordinary cream polish, so much so that my hands hurt and my fingers were pruned. It took me 25 minutes to remove my at home manicure that consisted of two coats of nail polish and a top coat where it would normally take me 5 minutes. I will be sticking to Cutex in the future.

Budget-Friendly Remover

4 out of 5 stars

Jess - 7 months ago, Verified purchaser
Despite the dispenser hiccup, this non-acetone nail polish remover from up&up is a decent choice for its price. The convenience of a large bottle is a plus, allowing for multiple uses before needing to restock. It effectively removes nail polish without harsh effects on your skin and nails, leaving them feeling relatively unharmed compared to some acetone-based removers. Another advantage is its versatility, as it can be used on both natural and artificial nails, making it suitable for a wide range of users. Additionally, Target’s up&up brand offers a satisfaction guarantee, allowing you to return the product within one year if you’re not satisfied, which provides some reassurance to consumers. In summary, while the dispenser design may be inconvenient and lead to some product wastage, the up&up non-acetone nail polish remover offers good value for its affordable price. It effectively fulfills its primary purpose without excessively drying out your nails. If you’re willing to overlook the dispenser issue, it’s a budget-friendly option worth considering for your nail care routine.
