Q: Mine sits on the plug in charger all day and when I go to use it, it stops spinning right in the middle of me brushing, is mine defective? It’s literally brand new not even a month old.

submitted by Colla - 10 months ago
  • A: Hi. I would not leave it in the charger. Let the charge go down, charge it, let it go down then charge it. Keep doing that. A charge should last for many days.

  • A: We bought two of these from Target and both do that exact thing.

Don’t buy. Noticed black water dripping out when brushing my son’s teeth. Took off the brush head and there was mold inside. Disappointed as the toothbrush itself works very well. Trashed it.
1 reply from Oral-B team - 8 days ago
Thank you for taking the time to leave this review, Amy. We can understand how frustrating and somewhat alarming it can be to find residue of any kind coming from your toothbrush, especially when it's your child's. Safety is at the heart of everything we do, and we have many quality checks to ensure all products are of the highest quality. Please know that there’s nothing in our toothbrush components that would cause mold. Mold requires organic material to grow, which isn’t present in our brushes. Buildup can occur from regular use, even after rinsing, as water and toothpaste can harden over time on the brush head and handle. Depending on your toothpaste and water hardness, it can sometimes leave a residue that varies in color. We'd like to help further and learn more, and invite you to give us a call at (800) 566-7252.

Design allow mold

Amy - 10 days ago, Verified purchaser
The design allow for mold in between the brush head and the body. The battery life is bad as well
1 reply from Oral-B team - 10 days ago
We're very sorry to hear you experienced mold and charging issues with your toothbrush, Amy, and we're happy to help you. Please know that there’s nothing in our toothbrush components that would cause mold before use. Mold requires organic material to grow, which isn’t present in our brushes. While it’s rare, mold can develop after use if the brush is stored in a damp area or comes into contact with certain cleaning agents or soaps that can make the plastic porous. To prevent this, rinse the brush head under running water with the handle on. Then switch it off, remove the head, clean both parts separately, and dry them before reattaching. While we offer a 2-year warranty on most brushes, it does not cover damage from normal wear, misuse, or failure to maintain the product properly. When charging, please make sure your brush has been powered off before putting it on the charger. Ensure that you are not charging on or near a metal surface – this can interfere with the electromagnetic charger and also try another outlet to ensure it's not the outlet. Also, make sure he brush is placed on the charging pin correctly (it has a non-symmetrical shape). We're happy to help you and answer any questions you may have. Please call us at (800) 566-7252 so we can do so.

Head design allows for mold

Klewis - 14 days ago
Unfortunately throwing this away immediately. The toothbrush itself works great, but the small hole on the head allows for mold growth within the head very quickly. I am shocked with this design flaw and will be purchasing our daughter a different brand.
1 reply from Oral-B team - 12 days ago
We're sorry to hear about your experience with the toothbrush, and we understand how frustrating this can be. The openings are designed to allow water to flush through the brush head tube, and to also allow air inside. This venting ensures the brush head dries sufficiently after use and also reduces moisture inside the tube. To prevent this, it’s important to clean and dry your brush after each use. Please rinse the brush head under running water with the handle on. Then switch it off, remove the head, clean both parts separately, and dry them before reattaching. Please give us a call at (800) 566-7252 for assistance for any questions you may have. We'll be happy to help you.

I purchased this for my 4 year old. This toothbrush is way too loud for a child. He refuses to use it due to the loud sound, which defeats the purpose of a kid-friendly design. Coming from a company known for quality, this was a letdown. He already uses a disposable electirc toothbrush from a different brand so it's not like switching to electric from maual is the problem.
1 reply from Oral-B team - 1 month ago
We always want our consumers, especially our younger ones, to feel comfortable when using our products, and we are disappointed to hear that your Oral-B Kids Electric Toothbrush was loud while in use, Sarah. We understand that the preferences of the users of our products may vary, and we do our best to offer a wide variety of toothbrushes in hopes that you will find one that your kids will love. If you have not already tried it, we would recommend using the sensitive mode, as this should help to reduce the level of noise and offer a gentle and effective cleaning. While we will be sure to share your feedback with our Quality Team, we would love a chance to learn more so we are better able to assist you, and invite you to give our team a call at (800) 566-7252.

This toothbrush almost choked our 3.5 year old. The brush head fell off while brushing his back teeth and became lodged in his throat. Luckily my wife was there to pull it out, but it’s a dangerous product.
1 reply from Oral-B team - 2 months ago
The well-being and comfort, especially of our younger consumers, are our top priorities. We are glad to hear that your wife was there to assist, and we hope that everyone is doing well now. Please know that all of our products go through extensive testing to ensure their quality and safety, and the brush head coming detached during use is not at all something we would expect. We are sure this goes without saying, but we would recommend discontinuing the use of this toothbrush. That being said, we would greatly appreciate a chance to learn more about your experience so we are better able to assist you as well as gather the most detailed information for our Quality and Safety Teams, and encourage you to give us a call at (800) 566-7252.

We never want you to feel disappointed when investing in a new toothbrush, so we're sorry to hear your Oral-B Kids' Electric Toothbrushes are having issues with holding a charge. We have numerous quality checks to ensure only the best products reach you. Oral-B electric toothbrushes should last between 3-5 years, so this isn't something we'd expect. When charging your toothbrush, it must be powered off before placing it on the charger. We also recommend charging your toothbrush away from any metal surface, as it can interfere with the electromagnetic charger. We'd love to learn more and help troubleshoot your toothbrushes. MOLD - this has a huge design flaw where even when you change the head, mold grows almost immediately. Way too expensive to just be throwing away.
1 reply from Oral-B team - 3 months ago
We understand the importance of knowing your child's toothbrush is sanitary, and we are disappointed to hear that you experienced mold with your Oral-B Kids Electric Toothbrush. All of our products go through extensive testing to ensure their quality and performance, and this is not the experience that we would like you to have. Since mold requires organic material to grow, this can sometimes happen if there is toothpaste residue left over after brushing or if the brush is stored somewhere it is accessible to bacteria. To help prevent this in the future, we would recommend thoroughly rinsing the brush while it is still running, then turning the brush off, removing the head from the base, and drying it with a towel. After towel drying you should then let the brush head fully air dry before placing it back on the brush. While we would expect these tips to resolve the issue, we would love a chance to learn more about your experience so we are able to better assist you as well as get some additional information to our Quality Team, and invite you to give us a call at (800) 566-7252.

I really like electronic toothbrushes, but it’s pretty annoying how you can’t tell how much battery the toothbrush has. You will literally be brushing your teeth and the battery just runs out of nowhere. Also, if you don’t take the toothbrush apart every few days it starts to smell.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re sorry that the Oral-B Kids Rechargeable Toothbrush stopped working after five months. We’ll share your message with our Quality Team. Please know that this isn’t the quality we’d expect, as all our power toothbrushes undergo thorough quality checks to ensure you receive them in perfect condition. If the toothbrush is no longer working, we suggest plugging the charger into a different outlet or using another compatible charger and charging the brush for a full 16 hours. We also recommend ensuring the charger is not on or near any metal surfaces. We want to learn more and assist you with getting your child’s toothbrush working again. Please contact us at (800) 566-7252.

disgusting mold build up in brush head

TK - 4 months ago, Verified purchaser
Absolutely horrible, do NOT recommend!! My child has only been using this toothbrush for a month and I noticed black water draining out of it. I pulled the head off and found this disgusting black mold/toothpaste residue. I called customer service and they told me some cleaning recommendations like use water to clean the head after every use? I tried a Q TIP and couldn't get it out! I took a picture of my oral B head that I've been using for 5 months (not rechargeable) and there is nothing in it! how is this OK? I expect more from P&G! I guess it's ok for children to use moldy brush heads?!
1 reply from Oral-B team - 4 months ago
We appreciate you taking the time to leave your review; your feedback is valuable and will be shared with our Quality Team. We’re sorry to hear that you’re experiencing a buildup on your child's toothbrush despite your cleaning efforts, as this isn't the experience we want you to have. All of our products undergo thorough testing during the manufacturing process to ensure they reach you in the best possible condition. Leaking fluid is often just residue from regular use. Even with rinsing after each use, toothpaste can harden over time, creating a chalky coating that may appear black, brown, orange, pink, or grey on the metal shaft, rubber parts, and charger. While it is very rare, mold on a toothbrush can occur if the brush is stored in a location that is exposed to mold and bacteria, or if the plastic comes into contact with corrosive substances (e.g., cleaning agents, sprays, cosmetics, soaps, etc.). However, there is nothing in the actual brush head that can grow mold. Certain ingredients in these products can make the plastic porous, allowing dirt and moisture to settle. We understand that you have previously contacted customer service, but we'd like another opportunity to resolve this issue. Please give us a call at (800) 566-7252 so we can assist you further.
