When making coasters with a DIY art kit which is made of resin, silicone and wood, the typical thickness of the finished coaster will be around 3/8 of an inch (approximately 1 cm), with the resin layer itself usually being poured to a thickness of about 1/8 inch within the mold. I love this kit!! It’s a great way to preserve special moments in time. My son bought me flowers for my birthday and I wanted to save them and this kit has allowed me to do so. They look beautiful in the resin and everything worked properly. I measured exactly and stirred well. Pro tip: warm up resin a in some natural sunlight for 15 minutes before use. Also be sure to store the mixture well. Mine cured perfectly.

Instructions were terrible, and it never cured on some of them, then others did which was from the exact same batch of mixing… same thickness etc. I think the products aren’t good quality maybe. So frustrating and SO messy to try to take out of the mold if they never cure and you’re checking them. Disaster craft idea and waste of money.

These are so great! I used this kit to make coasters from my wedding flowers. I did as another reviewer suggested and did 30 ml of each resin and mixed for a full three minutes for each. Then I poured a layer in, set the flowers in it, and covered them. I set them in the sun by a window to dry and harder, pushing the flowers back down below the resin surface when they floated to the top until it was super sticky and they stayed down. Make sure your flowers are super dry and pressed before starting. You should use flower petals not a whole flower in the press or it’ll just turn to mush. I had looked into having this professionally done as a keepsake for my wedding flowers and this was way easier, less expensive, and more fun!

I have not had an opportunity to use it yet because the mold is always too small for any flowers I find. Hopefully will find something small enough to add to mold in the future

I love these kits! Resin is difficult for first time diy-ers and the instructions included in the kit could be better. Hopefully this helps-There are only 2 molds included in the kit but enough resin to make more without telling you how much resin to mix up for the 2 molds. Thanks to another reviewer saying she used 30mls (15 mls part A + 15 mls part B) for one mold, I mixed up 60 mls (30 of part A, 30 of part B) to start. This formula was perfect. The secret to getting resin to set is to indeed measure the correct 1:1 ratio but also thoroughly mixing is equally (if not more) essential. Mix longer than you think-I set a timer for 3 minutes to make sure. Use both a stirring motion (side to side) AND a “folding in” stir (like in baking, up and down) to ensure all is mixed. (The resin should start to look slightly “cloudy” as you mix.) Mine set up by the next morning, solid by noon and easy to remove from the mold. I also wiped out any remaining resin from the measuring cup with a paper towel so I could use it again. Super cute with a little patience!

I received this kit as a gift. I'm not a crafty person. I made the first two coasters over a month ago, and somehow the resin has still not hardened. Resin is a horrible substance and should not be allowed to be in a craft kit for mass consumption. When checking to see if the resin has dried completely it always gets on my hands and it takes several tries to get off. The one coaster I made came out okay, the othe one not so much. Way more trouble than it was worth. Will not be making the last two.

It works really well and you don’t just have to use flowers. You can make at least 5 coasters with this kit. Sometimes it’s a little bit tacky on the bottoms, it could be due to the ratios of the resin. This happened to just one of the coasters. The lines on the cup aren’t the most visible once the liquid is in there.

Super easy to use. Great if you’re just getting into resin crafting. It would be helpful if they included sanding paper since the edges of the resin are kind of sharp, that was an extra item I had to purchase separately. Also if they provided more than one mixing cup. I needed to keep cleaning it out which is hard to do once the resin starts to set.

We had so much fun making these as gifts for people :) My 2.5 year old son loves to press flowers and it was awesome to find a simple kit to make resin pours and teach him a new process. Super easy to do, just remember that resin is VERY sticky so wear gloves and monitor any really young kids you might be involving.

This was my first time with resin and they turned out beautifully. You are only able to make two at time as there are only 2 coasters and I wish I would have washed out my measuring cup in between uses as it was hard to use the second time, but otherwise it was so fun. Highly recommend

This is a very good start to learn resin art. With the help of my 6 year old, we were able to make 4 coasters using real flowers from the neighborhood. You can literally preserve anything using resin. One trick would be to heat the mixed resin for about 10s in microwave so that it is free from bubbles, clear and hardens faster. But please work with gloves and a mask(if using heat). A heat gun can also be used to get rid of bubbles. Overall very happy with the outcome.

That about sums it up. The resin never hardened. We tried putting it in the sun. We left it for days. It was just a sticky mess in the end. Real bummer and $15 down the drain.

It’s fun to try, but not the best kit. Larger flowers are harder to press, so it works best with small ones. If you don’t mix the solutions exactly right, it never cures. I’ve had one coaster turn out okay so far, but I can feel that it’s still slightly soft in some spots. I’m just worried what’s going to happen over time if I give this as a gift
