The recent redesign of the threader floss has left many guests disappointed, as it fails to meet the expectations set by the original product. Guests have noted that the new floss is thicker, shreds easily, and often gets stuck between teeth and dental appliances. Despite some positive feedback regarding its threading capabilities, the overall sentiment leans towards a strong desire for the return of the previous version, which was praised for its effectiveness and comfort.

Horrible!
I used the old version for more than 10 years. This product performs terrible and the tip is super painful in the small space between my teeth, gums, and the permanent retainer. I want to see the scientific evidence that my flossing product is dumping more, if any, harmful plastics into my blood compared to condiments, milk, and other beverage bottles, butter, frosting, sour cream, yogurt and pudding tubs, or any other plastic container that our food sits in for weeks or months and in some cases a year. I recommend giving the public a choice between the crappy new product or the one we all prefer. I am will to take all the pulled products off you hands.

We're sorry to hear you had a negative experience with the Oral-B Glide Threader Floss. Please know that we've done extensive testing on our floss before introducing any new changes to ensure they are all safe for your oral care routine, and the new microtextured material is designed to slide smoothly between teeth and clean more efficiently. What you described isn't something we'd expect, and we recommend discontinuing the use of this floss. Please set it aside so we can gather more details for our Safety and Quality Assurance Team, and give us a call at 1-800-566-7252, M - F, 9 am to 6 pm EST for further assistance.

Worst floss ever!
Worst floss ever! The floss actually falls apart as you floss and you will end up with shreds of floss stuck in your teeth. I don’t know why they changed the floss, but they should be fired for letting this get to market like this.

Kristin, we're so incredibly sorry to hear that you had this experience. With our quality and safety checks, this isn't the quality experience we ever want you to have, especially with this new material. You see, we're always improving materials and looking to ensure that we deliver the best products. As a result, we’ve transitioned to a microtextured floss fiber that should be strong and shred resistant yet being soft and gentle on your gums and still cleans easily around orthodontics and appliances. However, we are aware this is an issue for some consumers and are working to adjust how we make the product so that the product is stronger with less shredding.

The threader part that is connected to the floss is so thick, it doesn’t fit between my crowns. Wahhhh

We're sorry to learn the threader portion of your floss is too thick to fit between your teeth. When we design our products, we do extensive research and consumer testing to create features that we think you will love. Bring back the old version
Bring back the old threader floss. This is terrible. It’s poorly made and gets stuck in my teeth because it frays.

Why???
I want to know why the original was discontinued. This new one is horrible, it's not even a close dupe to the original. Why? I used to buy these all the time for my office, the providers HATE this
1 reply from Customer Care team - 23 days ago
Our Oral-B Glide Threader Floss might feel a little different than the Threader floss you've used before, since we transitioned to a new microtextured floss fiber beginning in July 2024. However, we'd expect you to still enjoy the same great flossing experience due to the many quality tests these flosses go through. Please call us at (800) 566-7252 so we can gather further details to share with our team and be able to help.

I miss the old product. The weird fuzzy floss is not comfortable for me and is like nails on a chalkboard. Bring back the regular floss product.

These were awful. I used them to thread under a permanent retainer. The thread broke off multiple times and left me with uncomfortable pieces stuck between my teeth.

Lauren, thank you for taking the time to review our Threader floss. We're incredibly sorry to hear that this has been your experience. With our safety checks, this isn't the experience we ever expect you to have. We recently reformulated our Oral-B Glide floss to introduce a micro-textured fiber aimed at enhancing cleaning performance while being gentle on gums. However, it’s clear that this change hasn’t met your expectations, and we understand how frustrating that can be, especially if it tears easily. We are aware this is an issue for some consumers and are working to adjust how we make the product so that the product is stronger with less shredding. We continually evaluate how we can improve our products, and feedback from consumers like you is important and valued. For now, please discontinue using the floss and give us a call so we can connect and assist you further. We can be reached at 800-566-7252.

Bring back the OG
this new floss becomes stuck in the braces and permanent retainer even when pulled taught as instructed. You then are walking around all day with little micro strings in your mouth. Please bring back the old ones. I know it had to do with the PFSA, but you can formulate it without it. Even my dentist and orthodontist hate this new floss.

We're sorry to learn the Threader Floss has been getting stuck in your braces and permanent retainer, and want to help, Angel. Our recent transition to a new micro-textured fiber was made to enhance cleaning performance. This new design is intended to slide easily between tight spaces and provide a gentle yet effective clean. However, we understand that everyone’s oral health needs are unique. If you are experiencing any discomfort, or if you find the floss getting stuck between your teeth, we recommend discontinuing use. We're letting our team know you'd like to see the previous version return. So we can help you further, please give us a call at (800) 566-7252.

Ruined my permanent retainer
The new version is horrible. Shreds and gets stuck in my permanent retainer. I kept using it anyway and now it got wedged in the retainer so good it ruined it and I have to go to the ortho to fix it. Just awful! At least the PFAS version stayed in tact. This shreds leaving traces of who knows what behind.

Rips So Easily
Easy to thread through teeth but it's extremely stringy and literally rips so easy. The pieces of string get stuck in your teeth or in my case between my retainer and it's a PAIN trying to get it out. Would not recommend if you're going to use between retainers or anything that will require you getting the strings out of a tight spot because it's the worst.

Bad product
This floss is awful. I wish I could still get the original Glide. This frays and gets stuck in my permanent retainer. It expands between the teeth so instead of flossing I have to tug at the floss to get it free and move. It does not glide it is more like a bulldozer trying to make it down a sidewalk

Worst change to a product possible
This product should not have the word GLIDE in its name. It has none of the features the old product had. It is painful to use and makes my gums around my bridge bleed. I do not think that is the purpose of flossing. I can't even get it between my teeth. If you can't use it, it's not effective. I've read the other customer reviews and responses from Oral-B. I am happy to know that I am not alone. It makes me sad that Oral-B has abandoned the population of people with tight teeth and bridges, but being in the minority, I assume we don't bring the company enough money for Oral-B to make a product effective or even useful for us. I can only hope that more people will read these reviews before they purchase, so they don't waste their money.

Functions poorly.
Product was recently modified - used to be a great product, now poor quality with the floss snagging and not cleaning teeth well. I assume it was changed to make it cheaper. Hope the genius who spearheaded this gets a well deserved transfer to a landfill where he/she? has shown expertise.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, regarding your Glide Threader Floss. We’re sorry to hear our recent changes have made your flossing experience less enjoyable. To keep the product from snagging, wind the excess around your fingers. The tension is easier to control, and helps keep cleaning easy. We will be sure to share your review with the team, so they’re aware of how you feel. Tell us more any Monday-Friday, from 9 AM to 6 PM, EST. Our number is 1 (800) 566-7252.
