Description
To minimize damage or injury in the event of a fire, the first step is having the right fire extinguisher on hand. The HOME1 Fire Extinguisher is ideal for use in any household location and is UL rated 1-A: 10-B:C for fighting wood, paper, trash, plastics, gasoline, oil, and electrical-equipment fires. The commercial-grade metal valve and trigger ensure it's ready to use in an emergency. Once used, it can be recharged by a certified professional. It also includes a mounting bracket to keep the unit secure and within reach and is U.S. Coast Guard-approved for marine use when used with the bracket.

A: Thank you for reaching out. The charge would be determined by how often the device is used. When it is time to recharge your device, hire a trained professional to make sure your extinguisher is safe and gets recharged with the correct chemical extinguishing agent.

submitted byPenguins - 7 years agoA: The description says, "... rechargeable by certified professionals after use." Which means if used, take it to your local fire/ safety store for recharging. The indicator dial should be checked periodically (monthly or at least quarterly) and the unit should be turned upside down so the powder doesn't compact as it settles, rendering it useless.

Q: Do you have to cut the white plastic safety ring or does it come off when you pull the pin?

A: None of the photos on this model show a plastic ring, but it should work after pulling the pin and squeezing the trigger. Anything else that may be in the way of using it should break off easily. A visual inspection can be done at the store or soon after purchase, to check for obvious defects.

Hold the extinguisher with the nozzle pointing away from you and release the locking mechanism. Aim low. Point the extinguisher at the base of the fire. Squeeze the lever slowly and evenly. Sweep the nozzle from side-to-side.

Q: If this fire extinguisher is used on a stainless steel electricity ignited closed burner gas stovetop would the powder from the fire extinguisher damage the stove top or closed burners?

Hopefully NEVER have to test.
This thing is solid quality, built like a tank (haha, get it?). Mounted it in the trunk of a heavily modified vehicle which has already been on fire once before. Luckily, the fire was small and I blew it out. This is great peace of mind in case a more catastrophic failure occurs. Highly recommend everyone put one of these in their kitchens, laundry rooms, and if you have the room for it, your cars. Price is extremely fair for a potentially life (and property) saving device. It’s also fully serviceable by pro’s, extending its life past expiration or use. It comes with a plastic bracket which works good enough for me but you can buy a metal one from them if you need a more secure mount. Stay safe out there everyone!

how do you rate something you havent used
The fire extinguisher looks nice and is now placed where it can be used in an emergency, but I'm not going to use it until I need to use it for a fire so beyond the fact that it was a good price and arrived in good shape and looks nice. What more can I say?

Saved the day
This thing came in clutch. I bbq'd two days in a row on day. On the 2nd day, I shoveled out charcoal from my pit, loaded it into a wheel barrow and dumped it where I always do on my 5 acre property. I could've sworn the briquettes were cold but they reignited due to high winds that night. And would you know it, a fire started and no water in sight. VERY happy I had this
I do not review things but today I had to use the First Alert fire extinguisher I received for my wedding in 1983 (not kidding) for a grease fire on my gas grill near my gas line on my wood deck. Grabbed it from under the sink and 5 seconds later the fire was out. Grateful for the product... and for my guardian angel.

Fire successfully Extinguished.
Recent (Thursday May 7th,2020) I used a 5lb, class ABC dry chemical First Alert fire extinguisher, to extinguish an electrical fire that was just starting, in my home. The electrical receptacal, was being used to supply electricity to my in home Security/Fire alarm system. After having used approximatel;y half of the extinguishing agent , I had the fire put out. During this time my wife had called 911, and several fire trucks from the local municipal fire dept began to arive at my home. They used their heat sensing camers and determined that the fire had not burned long enough to damage anything other than the electrical receptacal.
Glad I had a First Alert class ABC extinguisher, close by.
