Q: Will these seeds grow if they are planted?
submitted by Rosemarie - 5 years ago
A: Ch-ch-ch-chia! While we prefer them in smoothies and bowls, our Chia Seeds will happily sprout with a bit of water and a little time. They can be eaten as young sprouts, or used to brighten your windowsill with their dense, lush greenery.

The perfect addition for your breakfast.
I've been using chia seeds regularly, and they've quickly become a staple in my kitchen. They’re reasonably priced, especially considering how far a small amount goes—just a tablespoon or two is enough to boost a meal. These little seeds are incredibly versatile. I most often mix them into oatmeal or stir them into yogurt for a subtle crunch and extra nutrition. They don't have much of a taste on their own, which makes them easy to add to just about anything. Health-wise, chia seeds are packed with fiber, omega-3s, and protein, which makes them a great addition to a balanced diet. One of my favorite ways to enjoy them is in chia seed pudding—just mix them with vanilla soy milk, let it sit in the fridge overnight, and you’ve got a creamy, satisfying treat by morning. It’s simple, delicious, and feels like a healthy indulgence. Overall, chia seeds are a great value, easy to use, and offer solid nutritional benefits. Highly recommend keeping some in the pantry!

They don't absorb liquid well
Made Chia pudding, and the pudding came out so runny! The seeds don't absorb liquid very well. They are still small and crunch after leaving in the fridge 15 hours. Will be returning and trying a different brand.

Does not expand
Literally followed the chia pudding instructions behind the bag and it did not expand. Other reviews say that not expanding may be a sign they are expired although expiratory date seems to be fine. To make things worst the price is very over priced. Other brands are better priced and have better chia seeds like Bobs Redmill or Sonar Naturals you will get a better price for the same chia!

Expired chia seeds
I ordered these for my pantry with the hope that I could use these for a while, but they arrived expired (see photo). It seems like I had maybe two weeks to use them all up, but that's annoying and I was forced to go in person to return this. I've also read online about Target shipping other expired items to their customers and hoping they don't notice, which is frustrating.

Excellent for chia pudding
I bought this product for chia pudding. It works well for that! One package (8 oz) lasts long time. Chia seeds are very healthy and will buy it again.

Beware of Foreign Debris
I wouldn’t recommend this brand in particular. I’ve found plenty of small rocks and twigs mixed in with my chia seeds. It is also overpriced for the small amount you get. You can snag a better deal anywhere else and without the rocks and twigs.

Too Expensive
I wanted chia seeds for overnight oats, and this was the only brand my local Target had in stock. They worked just fine, but it's such a small amount for the price.

Do NOT pay this price!
There is nothing wrong with these chia seeds. They’re perfectly fine. But this value is terrible! Please don’t purchase these when you can get double or triple for the same price. There is nothing special about these to justify the cost. If this is your only option then I underhand but if not, just get the bigger and cheaper quantity. These can be kept for a long time and you go through them faster than you think!

rip off
chia itself is fine but for $8 you get half the bag. it’s a rip off considering any other store is half the price. anything this brand is insanely over priced
