Beautiful, Hope-Giving Truths - a joy to read!
Wow. I could not put this down!!! Each chapter highlights a common motherhood struggle, rehearses the truth of the gospel in light of that struggle, and then gives practical life/thought changes to help you in the midst of it. Sooooo incredibly helpful. I may have wept a time or two from sheer relief to know I am not alone in my struggles and there is hope in the gospel for me! I would say it's mainly aimed at moms with littles at home, but tons of helpful truths packed in for all stages and types of motherhood.

Must-read (even for not-yet-moms)!
My excitement to read this book began the moment I heard about it. I’m not yet a mother, but I often cite the Risen Motherhood podcast (and now the book!) as one of the most helpful tools God has used to help me understand how the gospel applies not only to our eternal destiny or church on Sundays, but to every moment of every day—and why that’s a joyous, hope-filled thing for us! As I read this book, I found myself eagerly highlighting and excitedly sharing parts with my husband as the truth and hope of the gospel made it’s way to my heart attitudes, transitional seasons, food choices, and many more practical, everyday-life situations. In a world full of conflicting opinions and contradicting how-tos at every turn, the transcendent, everlasting truth of our Risen Lord is the only hope we have. Risen Motherhood shows us that hope.

A balm to my sould
Risen Motherhood has been a balm to my soul. It began with the podcast and now a book I can hold in my hands and refer back to when I need the "refreshing truth of the gospel" time and time again. There are so many voices in this world (and in our own hearts) that say we have to live this way and not that but Jesus says, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” And that is what Emily and Laura are reminding us of. We are to put our hope in our Redeemer and stop believing the lies of the world, the flesh, and the devil who tell us to put our hope in fleeting things like relationships, service, body image, food choices, traditions, self-care, schooling choices, etc. All of those things can be/are good gifts from God but we twist them and make them idols.

Great godly wisdom!
Such a great book! Laura and Emily walk through everyday motherhood topics and show you how to apply the gospel to all of them (and show you how to address topics not in the book)! So much hope and godly wisdom provided. I will be going back to this book over and over as I continue to navigate through motherhood!

LOVE THIS BOOK!
This book is incredibly helpful in the day to day life of being a mom. It is so good to be reminded of how important our job as a mom is, as well as we do not have to do it in our own power. God gives us the power to get through every mundane and crazy aspect of our mommy days! I had a hard time seeing that connection until I read this book.

About a year ago, I ran across the Risen Motherhood podcast while browsing Apple podcasts and fell in love with the practical way Emily and Laura share the Gospel. When they announced their new book, Risen Motherhood: Gospel Hope for Everyday Moments, I was immediately curious. The book does not disappoint! Written with the Gospel in full view in each chapter, Emily and Laura take turns sharing stories from their life and applying the Gospel to their individual context, but also to the broader context of all motherhood. I laughed and cried almost simultaneously in each chapter because they do such a good job of fully describing our human condition. This book helps me remember that the God we serve is so much bigger than our everyday mundane moments and that he can do extraordinary things with our ordinary lives. There is so much freedom when I am able to rest in the Gospel and I highly recommend this book to those who want to live fully in whatever season they are in

momming with the gospel-lens
I've been an avid listener of the Risen Motherhood podcast for about three years, since it's beginnings or pretty close to it (maybe I was behind but motherhood affects my memory so forgive me for having bad timelines). Anyway, I love every second of the podcast, from the jingle to Emily and Laura's laughs and honesty. It's just everything I would want a podcast to be - quick, thoughtful, and about Jesus.
When they said the Risen Motherhood book was coming out, I jumped at the chance to be on the launch team. Emily Jensen and Laura Wifler are my BFFs that I've never met. I can relate to each of them very well in terms of motherhood, writing (although they obviously are more serious about theirs than I), and trying to be a mom/wife/friend/person who follows Jesus and looks at life through the gospel lens.
I received an advanced e-book copy of the book. It was very exciting to have the material but I learned one thing - I hate e-books. I just cannot make it through one as quickly as I can a hard copy book! I don't know what that is? It's very frustrating because I loved the material and writing in the book but had a hard time wanting to read it once I stopped because of the copy. As soon as I got my actual copy of the book - BAM, it was done! So take that for what it is, I prefer the book itself to flip through.
As for the material of the book, whoa - this is just one of the best books I could ever recommend. The format of the book is one of my favorite things. If you're familiar with the podcast, it follows the metanarrative of Scripture: the creation, fall, redemption, and consummation (which was a term I had not heard of prior to listening to their podcast). I like the familiar so it's nice to go through that expected format when reading.
I couldn't pick a favorite chapter if I tried. The closest I could come would be the chapter on special needs children: "The Gospel and our Children with Differences." I feel both gals (who both have kids with special needs) do a terrific job of protecting the privacy of their children while also diving deep into the heart of what it's like to mother a kid with special needs. Having a couple kids with a couple different special needs myself, this chapter is just near and dear. It's not a topic a lot of people would tackle or tackle with such a positive outlook. This is not a "You can do it, you're super mom!" kind of rhetoric we get from the world, but this is a "God is good, even when this is hard, and He is with you" kind of message that we special needs moms really need. A can-do attitude doesn't help me when my son has seizures or anxiety, but Christ does help me. I need this perspective. Every mom needs this perspective. How do you mom without Christ? I couldn't.
The only thing I dislike about this book is that it's taken so long for it to be written (2007 would have been nice lol). And it could be a million pages longer. I'm so thankful for this ministry and this book and these ladies bringing my focus back to Christ all the time.

Must-Read for Moms
I have been so blessed by and have grown so much in my life and motherhood through the ministry of Risen Motherhood - and now through the book! When Laura and Emily announced that they were writing a book, I knew it was going to be a must-read. I love how they tackle so many topics that face us as moms (birth experiences, postpartum body image, school choices, traditions) and reframe our thinking with the hope of the gospel.
The thing I love most about the book is that it doesn't just give you a bunch of answers or steps to follow. Rather, it demonstrates how you can use a gospel lens to think through any situation that you face (in motherhood and in life in general). The book is constantly pointing back to the Word of God and encourages me to dig deeper in my own study of the Bible.
This book is so beautiful on the outside, and the truth contained in its pages is even more beautiful. Read it, share it with your friends and other moms in your life. I cannot recommend it enough!

Foundational Truth Communicated Clearly and Beautifully
Wow. If I could pass these out to every mom, I would. I have been SO blessed by the Risen Motherhood podcast, so this book was a no brainer to add to my “arsenal.”
The book is BEAUTIFUL. I’m a designer, so I care about that stuff... (meanwhile, my one-year-old just sat on it and bent some pages... oh, well...)
When content and design is SO well planned, organized, and communicated, the message is clear. Moms (and all believers) must be saturating their hearts with the gospel every day, and this book gives clear opportunities for the reader to see what gospel application looks like in the everyday.
The further I read, the more I’m impressed with the way it is structured.
Love love love this book already.

Best "mom" book out there!
This book is so so so good! It is a fantastic read for any mother and cuts deeply (and quickly) into the heart of the struggles moms face. With every chapter, a struggle is discussed and moms are pointed to Christ and how a relationship with him changes everything. It takes baby steps to grow, to change, but there is so much beauty in walking through this life with Christ at the center. It's convicting, encouraging, inspiring, and easy to read. This is a great book for a mom to read alone in the midst of her busy day and also for group discussions among friends. I felt especially encouraged and empowered after reading the chapters on Marriage and on Mundane Moments. Emily & Laura do a really great job of communicating relationally and concisely making this an easy read any mom can pick up and dive in whenever she has a moment.
I hope this book becomes a new staple for moms everywhere.

The gospel changes everything. Looking to deepen my understanding of this truth and to understand how this practically applies to different aspects of motherhood, I couldn’t wait to read this book. A loyal fan of Emily and Laura’s podcast Risen Motherhood, they have helped to reshape my view of motherhood and understand how to apply to gospel – creation, fall, redemption and consummation – to the daunting task of being a mom. From heart attitudes and transitions to food choices and self-care, they do a great job of applying the framework of the gospel to practical areas of life.
This book is gold. It will help to reshape your motherhood journey as it encourages you to rest in the promises of Christ rather than telling you to just try harder, lower your expectations or change your circumstances. I am thankful to God for the work of Risen Motherhood and how they are bringing glory to God by pointing mothers back to the basic gospel framework of Christianity.

A Linking of Arms in Motherhood
Risen Motherhood opens with the statement “Other moms around us experienced a hole in their hopes for motherhood too.” This is true in the lives of every mother I personally have talked with and Emily and Laura turn our hearts and eyes back to Jesus to reclaim our hope in motherhood. Risen Motherhood applies the unchanging Word of God to everyday motherhood in practical and applicable ways. The writing is easy to read and digest, but spiritually deep and refreshing. It is a literary hug and a linking together of arms of sisters in Christ in this motherhood journey. This is a reminder so many moms need to live out a risen motherhood and not a self-centered motherhood that can never fulfill our hearts desire. Only Jesus can do that.

I have been following the Risen Motherhood podcast since before the birth of my little girl 2 years ago. I preordered their book and have enjoyed all of the truths they have shared throughout. The women I have met through the Risen Motherhood community has been such a blessing and encouragement. The book is definitely worth the read!

As a biblical counselor and as a mom in community with other moms, I am always looking for resources that ground women deeply in the Gospel as they navigate everyday life. "Risen Motherhood" is pure gold. From mundane moments to transitions to hospitality, "Risen Motherhood" takes readers through an easy-to-follow pattern of creation/fall/redemption/restoration so they learn to THINK the Gospel. I was left thinking deeply at the end of each chapter, making connections about how the Gospel applies, how I can image God, and what sinful attitudes I need to be on guard against in my mothering. This is no typical parenting book of how-to strategies, but instead it equipped me to use whatever strategies I've prayerfully chosen with a Gospel-shaped mindset and lens. I wish someone had given me this book when I first started my motherhood journey so that I didn't waste time stuck in the practical "how-to's," forgetting about the bigger HEART "how-to's."

This book has reminded me just how transformative, refreshing and relevant the gospel is! Not only is it the power of our salvation, but it impacts, gives purpose to, and brings life and light into every situation afterwards.
Specifically in this season of ‘motherhood in the trenches’ when the battles of sleep deprivation, emotional roller coasters, infinite laundry piles, scrolls of ‘to do’ lists and scrambling for wisdom on how to train my children with discipline, grace, mercy and love all at the same time can leave me feeling that I’m barely keeping my head above water and that at any given moment I might be completely overwhelmed.
In this book, Laura and Emily have so beautifully reminded me and shown how the gospel meets us right where we are and brings life and purpose to every moment, every mundane task. Like the gentle unfolding of a flower in bloom, Laura and Emily unfold how the gospel applies to the everyday of our lives in Motherhood and how Christ redeems all that is broken, for his glory and our freedom and joy! This book has been so refreshing and changed the way I view my role as a mother and a daughter of God, and helped me see the day to day of Motherhood as part of a story that is so much bigger, full of hope, freedom and life-giving purpose.
