They don’t smudge at all. As long as you don’t write on glossy side of a poster board there is no smudging and it dries super fast.

Smears, won't dry.
20 minutes after writing on a poster board (what this is advertised for), the ink wasn't dry and smeared all over. Very disappointed. I wasted a posterboard using this marker.

These markers have worked well for me. They have a nice thick line when needed. I am currently using them to mark boxes for moving and the different colors will work well in designating different locations in the new place.

Not worth the money
I bought these markers to make posters for my son’s birthday parade. I have used regular Crayola markers to make other posters and just make the lines wider. I thought these poster markers would work well, but when I started writing, the marker skipped and didn’t make a solid line. I tried turning the marker, but it didn’t help. My mom also had bought a package and had the same trouble. It looked like a child had written it. Normally the Crayola brand sells itself, but stay away from this product, it is not worth the money.
