Cute illustrations but writing is too complex and factual for a 1 and 2-year old

Not sure that the writing/reading level really matches the target audience/age. The book is very cute, the cutesy/bubbly animals combined with the peek-a-flaps get my 12-month engaged and excited. That is, until I start reading the book. I really appreciate that the book has lots of little facts, but it's too complex to hold my kids' attention- even my 3-year old gets bored quickly and stops paying attention. I was expecting the book to have a story about the animals or something. Sadly, this book is probably going to end up collecting dust.
