Eyes burn and is greasy
Hi there! I’ve always been a huge fan of Jack Black products. I bought this product a couple of months ago and had never experienced any issues with it before. However, after the formula change, I noticed the scent wasn’t as pleasant as it used to be, and the moisturizer also felt much greasier. At first, I didn’t mind too much since there was a promotion for a larger bottle. But after a while, I started noticing that my eyes were burning frequently. Initially, I thought it was caused by dust or allergies, but the irritation kept happening at school, work, and throughout the day. My eyes would become red and irritated, making it look like I was tired or had been crying. When I came back to this website to purchase a few more items, I started reading other reviews mentioning eye irritation and the formula change, and that’s when it clicked. The problems began shortly after I started using the new bottle. It used to be a great product, so I’m disappointed that the formula change seems to have caused these issues for me.

This was once a great product.
I’ve used this product for years. I recently purchased a refill and whatever they did to the formula stinks. It smells like moldy plastic. I’m very disappointed in this change.

Please avoid
I’ve been a faithful customer and JB evangelist for years. No matter where I was or who I was with I’d advocate for JB. Recently I’ve found my eyes burning and incredibly irritated but no clue why. I’m extremely disappointed that I now have found out the culprit. If there is no resolution to this then unfortunately it seems I’ll have to take my business elsewhere. The fact there has been no recall or warning to customers is beyond a disappointment especially given all of the reviews clearly showing JB has altered the formula to the detriment of their customers

New batches are no good
I recently opened a bottle last week I had received in February and the smell was so strong I thought it had somehow gone bad. I trashed it and ordered a new one but that one also has a strong, unpleasant smell. After reading other reviews with the same problem I compared it to the older tube I use for travel and immediately noticed both a lack of unpleasant smell and a much silkier texture. I've been using this product for over a decade but if it stays like this I will have to find something new.

The New Formula is a Disaster
I’ve been a loyal user of the Double Duty Face Moisturizer for 15 years, but the recent reformulation is a massive disappointment. I used to recommend this to all my friends and family as the gold standard for men’s skincare, but I can no longer do that. It’s rare to see a company take a "holy grail" product and manage to make it worse in every single category, but here we are. Here is why I can no longer use this: The Smell is Unbearable: The old, clean scent is gone. This new version has a sour, chemical-heavy odor—almost like diaper cream—that lingers on your face all day. It’s genuinely unpleasant to wear. Watery and Greasy: The rich, premium consistency has been replaced by a thin, runny liquid. It doesn't absorb properly anymore; instead, it sits on top of the skin, leaving a greasy film and occasional white streaks. It Stings: Worst of all, it now burns my eyes and causes irritation on my skin. This used to be the most reliable product for sensitive skin, but now it feels harsh and "cheap." After 15 years of loyalty, it’s very sad to walk away from a brand I’ve trusted and promoted for so long, but I’m officially done. It is a total disaster, and I’ll be switching to a different brand immediately.

New formula burns the eyes. Been using this daily for years. My newest batch burns no matter how careful I am. Very bummed because I’ve been so happy for years. Please consider changing the formula back to the old formula. It was perfect.

As others have said this new formula has an odd odor to it. I won’t ask to change it back to before but the scent before was very light and slightly pleasant. This new odor issue has gotta be addressed though. It’s unfortunate since this is probably my favorite jack black product. It’s very useful as a moisturizer with the added bonus of easy sun protection, the smell from the new formula is really the only issue. Jack black has been a great brand for me to buy from and interact with for many years so I still have a lot of faith in you guys. Thank you and good luck

Horrible Smell
I love Jack Black and I have used this product for many years. The first time I used this new formula, I literally changed clothes 3 times because I thought the smell was coming from my clothes. It wasn't, it is the smell from this product. It smells TERRIBLE. The previous version was unscented. Jack Black, why change something that was perfect????? Where can I purchase the OG version?

Why they have to change the formula, beside it has a horrible smell, my face looks different when I apply it. I thought it was me, but then I used the old bottle. Thanks god I keep it, then I could see the difference. Time to change to a new brand

BEWARE: FORMULA CHANGE!!
Been using this product for more than 5 years. Just repurchased 3 weeks ago. Immediately noticed a package change I had been waiting on for years. No more safety cap at the top but instead a twist cap to lock and unlock the product. Major pro there! However after using the product for the first time Immediately noticed new formula is very watery and runny. Smell seemed a little off. No longer that pleasant baby powder smell but a displeasing smell that stays with you for hours on end. Kiehl's did the same thing to their facial fuel spf20 years ago and I'm sure they have regretted it since but never bothered to change the formula back. Let's hope Jack Black does the right thing or they will lose tons of customers over this.

New Formula Woes
I've been using this product for years, and my most recent order seems noticeably runnier than usual and has a displeasing sour smell to it. Tried shaking the bottle up and discarding the first few globs hoping it was just an issue at the top. No such luck, will be throwing in the trash.

Unhappy with Formula Change
I’ve been using this same moisturizer for years now and recently I’ve learned that they’ve changed the formula. Now the moisturizer is runny and makes my face red maybe irritated after putting it on. Before I had zero breakouts and swore by this stuff as being the best but now I feel betrayed and disappointed.

What Happened to the Go-To Men's facial sunscreen?
Geez! What happened? I've been using this for 11 years and then the latest batch is terrible! Verified by looking at the new ingredients list that this is different in the first few ingredients. Eyes burn and it feels greasy. I see they upped one of the "active" ingredients, but the overall feel and scent is not good. How do you not listen to all these loyal customers and not go back to the previous formula?! Time to find a new product line.

New formulation is terrible. Looks like plenty of people have mentioned this, so I’ll just say please make it clear when you have fixed it so I can continue using. I don’t have the bottle- I threw it out after it burned my eyes. It’s a runny watered down mess that you can immediately tell has been purposely made worse. The all over wash, face wash, and this moisturizer has been a staple in my home for years. I love all of your products and don’t want to take my business elsewhere if I can avoid it. It’s 2026- chat gpt exists. It takes 5 seconds to copy paste an ingredient formulation and see that it’s been made worse. You guys can’t get away with this stuff anymore, make it abundantly clear that you reformulated and why. If it’s anything other than an honest attempt at improving the product then maybe leave it alone?

Hi Tyler, All SPF products containing Octinoxate and Oxybenzone had to be reformulated following Hawaii's Senate Bill 2571 which banned those two active ingredients. The decision to reformulate Double-Duty was made to ensure we're in compliance with this new law and can continue selling our Double-Duty product in the market. We always do our very best to match the quality and efficacy of the original formula when we do have to reformulate, and it's clear based on the reviews we're seeing that we've missed the mark somewhere. Bad change of formula
I have been using this product for over a decade and they recently changed the formula, consistency is different and the lotion now smells chemically. Skin feel is totally different. Will be finding an alternative unless they go back to the original formula.

CAUTION NEW FORMULATION: EYES BURNING
I have been a lifelong purchaser of this product. The updated formula is horrible. Both my husband and my eyes were burning after applying, and the smell is really off. We had to stop using. I wish they would inform loyal customers of re-formulations versus having us learn by a bad reaction. SO DISAPPOINTING that we need to find some other brand to use now. So much for being a life-long customer.
