Q: Hi, I’m wondering if the gears actually move? Thx, Lynda
A: Hi Lynda. Thank you for your interest in our Westclox Quartz Movement 16" Gear Wall Clock. Lynda, although the gears on this clock do not move the gears however give an industrial feel to the clock in the way that it was designed. Lynda, several of our customers love both the design and the fact that the quartz movement is quite silent. Lynda, we hope that you will feel the same way about our clock as well once it is displayed wherever it going to be hung. Lynda, thank you again for reaching out to us on the portal. Best regards!

Q: Does it have a ticking noise?
A: Hi Sandy. Good afternoon.I sincerely apologize for not responding back to your question. I just joined the company and will be responding to any messages left in the portal going forward. As for the answer to your question, since the clock operates on batteries you will hear a slight ticking noise while the second hand is making its full rotation. A normal thing with battery operated wall clocks. Sandy, thank you for your question and best regards!
