Q: Hi, is your vegan "chicken" certified kosher?
submitted by Batmom - 10 months ago
A: Great question. While we use 100% whole plant food ingredients, our products are not certified kosher. We value your feedback and know this certification is important to many consumers. We're not there yet, but it is certainly on our radar. Happy to answer any other questions you may have about our products and ingredients! Feel free to email us at hello@abbots.com.

submitted by Salsa Lover - 2 years ago
A: Abbot's is sold refrigerated in Target's produce section. The expiration date will be printed on the bottom of the box. Thank you for your interest in our plant-rich proteins!

Truly AWFUL
I had high hopes for this product, but it is AWFUL. The texture is odd, and the taste so off I can’t even begin to explain it. Do yourself a favor and stick with Daring chicken - way cheaper and tastes so much better.

Mehh
I am new to being vegetarian and decided to try. it was OKAY. It wasn't great, but not terrible. The taste and texture can throw you off if not used to plant based items. Personally will not buy again, but know it's available if ever needing!

Abbott's review
This is the best plant-based products I've ever had. All of their stuff is wonderful. I have major food restrictions and I'm vegan and this literally changed my life. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in trying to go vegan. Don't kill animals. Love them. You can get all the protein you need with this. Excellent product.

Yum
We have use this twice so far. Once in a stir fry and second in a pot pie. The first was the stir fry and a couple of bites into it my boyfirend exclaimed, "now this is how you do it!" Every other venture into vegan chick'n did not quite hit the correct texture for him. This does. The flavor is great and it is super easy to use.

Gross texture and taste
Texture and taste was awful! Both me and my husband threw our entire dinner out because this stuff was mixed in. Texture is so chewy and strange I will never purchase again.

My favorite
I love this Chick'n. It's my favorite thing this brand makes. I use it mostly in stir-frys but also love it when I want to add protein to vegan boxed mac and cheese. I always eat some straight from the pan or sheet tray, I can't help it. Pro tip: spray with a bit of EVOO and bake it on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Super easy clean up and it gets nice and crispy. The one thing is that I don't get 3 servings out of it, just two. It's so good I definitely eat more than 3oz per sitting.

So gross
I love vegan meats & eat them often. However, this is the worst one I've ever had. I followed package instructions and browned it in a skillet with oil for 6 to 8 minutes. The taste and texture were terrible. It was absolutely inedible. This is a fairly expensive product, and I had to throw it away. Neither my husband or I liked it AT ALL, and I didn't want to taint the rest of our dinner with it.

Great Plant Based Chick'n Fajitas
I really enjoyed the vegan chick'n, I sauteed with some oil, serano chillies, onions, bell peppers and tomatoes. Added a bit more of my own seasoning and as some one else mentioned, tastes better after the chick'n has time to absorb the flavors. Def buying again and do recommend.

We’re really sorry the Chick’n didn’t hit the mark for you—that’s not the experience we aim for. If you love our clean ingredients and want more protein, we’d be happy to recommend our Ground "Beef" or "Chorizo," which have craveable flavors and a different texture that might work better for you. Thanks for sharing your feedback—we’d love to make it right! Please email us at hello@abbots.com if you'd like to try either of these products.

Not great
Didnt love the taste, couldn’t eat it without a sauce; and it was super chewy.

We appreciate your feedback, and we are sorry that you didn’t enjoy our Chopped Chick’n. This is certainly our most mild and versatile product; it’s meant to take on your favorite seasoning or marinade. We’d love the opportunity to make it up to you. Please reach out at hello@abbots.com and we can set you up with another product you may enjoy more, like our smoky “Chorizo”.

Yummy Faux Chick'n
Love this faux chicken. It's expensive so I stock up when there's a decent sale. The texture was more, chewy/fatty, dark meat-esq than lean white meat-esq. The flavor, like all faux chicken, has tinges of wheat gluten. Tastes great in stews, white chicken chili, chicken noodle soup, pot pie, tacos and so on.

Wack
Okay so this stuff is wild. It doesn't so much taste like anything but it can be kinda rubbery. I recommend using it to meal prep because once it's been sitting in sauce for a day it absorbed that flavor and has a better texture. Maybe try getting it crispy. I tried it with the jarred panang curry with veggies and it was yummy i would eat again

A curry is an excellent way to enjoy our Chick’n! The Chick’n is the most mild of our plant proteins and really benefits from adding your favorite flavors, from seasoning to marinades. To achieve the most mouthwatering texture, you’re right—getting it really crispy is the way to go. Try air-frying or baking it in the oven at 375 until golden brown or even a little charred.

Healthy and almost perfect
High protein, clean ingredients, and great taste. If the sodium were lowered just a bit, it would be perfect.

Jerk chic'n
I took my plant based chick’n and made jerked chicken flavored. Sautéed some green onion, red onion, salad tomatoes, added salt pepper to season then added some garlic paste and McCormick jerk seasoning along with Onion powder, smoked paprika, add a little water to the pan to pick up some of the browned seasonings on the pan. I also added a couple spoonfuls of Jerk marinade to the chick’n. Let this slow simmer until the water makes a steam!! Always remember, plant based meats are bland and need to be treated like the regular meats that are consumed today, season like you know food should be seasoned. This was amazing with some roasted sweet potato and i had a small vegan cup of buttermilk dressing as dipping sauce for the plant based chick’n.. Enjoyed it !! You can also make this into a wrap with the same preparation😉
