A: Yep, there is no smell whatsoever. We have lots of allergies in our household, and chemical-product smells are big triggers. No problems with these bags!

A: No smell. Have severe allergies and have used the previous incarnation for years without issue.

A: These are no longer unscented. I've been buying these for years. The new version in the light blue box (despite being labeled unscented) have a light scent to them. They cause headaches.

A: My last box had a scent. MANY paper products and bags from Target labeled unscented have a scent. Target must store them with scented items or next to scented laundry detergent. Bad-triggers allergies

A: The bags do have an added smell. I would describe it as a spring rain bathroom spray. Yes, this is for the “Unscented” bags.

A: I have been buying these unscented trash bags in all 3 sizes (qty = 25, 50, or 100) for at least 10 years. Sometimes I buy them in store and sometimes I have them shipped. I have never noticed a scent and I am very sensitive to scent. I think another commenter likely hit the nail on the head when they suggested the bags might be stored next to scented products. Next time you are in your local Target, ask to speak to a manager or the head of the store and let them know of your concerns. Unfortunately, I don’t think comments/complaints/suggestions left online necessarily get read by the people who need to know. Signed a former Target employee.

A: The new formula, different packaging, less quality, less value,, AND A SCENT. before target overhauled their Up&Up they were unscented. NOT ANYMORE

A: The 50 bag ones I just bought in March 2026 say unscented but they are still scented with a fake perfume smell. The 200 bags double roll I bought previously smelled like deisel fuel on inner bags.

A: THEY USED TO BE UNSCENTED. For the first , they suddenly have a horrid smell. We have some one who had an allergic reaction, hives. I can't stand target anymore. THE REVIEWS SHOW CLEARLY SOME OF THE UNSCENTED BOXES WERE FILLED WITH THE SCENTED BAGS RECENTLY AND NO ONE AT TARGET HAS CARED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT IS STILL HAPPENING WELL OVER 6 MONTHS LATER. I just bought 100 bags pack June 2024 and they REEK. they did used to be completely unscented. Not anymore .

A: SCENTED!! This is ridiculous! They used to actually be UNSCENTED as the box claims but now they are not! I have a severe medical condition known as “MCAS” that is triggered by fragrances among other things! This is unacceptable! False advertising and a health hazard.

A: They're very, very thin, so they're translucent (not solid, not transparent).

A: These bags do have an added fragrance. The cardboard box they come in doesn’t have a smell, but the bags themselves do. It smells pretty strong.
