Big Potato You Can't Say Ummm Board Game: Educational Party Game for 4+ Players, Includes Cards & Instructions

Great game but another Big Potato game which desperately needs an expansion pack (or just to have more cards to start with). I don’t mean a “late night” or “NSFW” expansion pack- just you play 1x and practically get through all the cards. It’s a lot of fun otherwise and I do recommend.

Bought this game thinking it would be a chill, funny game. Turns out it’s a public-speaking boot camp designed to expose how often I rely on “umm” to survive conversations. Spoiler alert: it’s a lot. Every round feels like being put on the spot in front of a jury that’s just waiting for you to slip. The pressure is real, the silence is loud, and the second you panic… buzz. Suddenly everyone’s laughing while you question how you’ve ever spoken a full sentence in your life. Great for parties, roasting your friends, and humbling anyone who thinks they’re “good at talking.” Fun, stressful, and mildly traumatizing in the best way. Would recommend — just don’t hesitate.

I recently played You Can’t Say Umm at a wedding party, and it turned into absolute comedic mayhem. What started as a light game of wordplay escalated into a full-blown competition — people were yelling, laughing, and slamming the bell any time someone nervously slipped out an “umm.” It didn’t take long before everyone was shouting accusations, defending their speeches, and howling with laughter. We even made up our own extra rule: every time someone got “dinged” by the bell, they had to take a drink — and that twist took the chaos (and the fun) to a whole new level. It was pure energy from start to finish and easily became the highlight of the night.

Fun game. A little older than listed on box though. I think it is more of an adult game.

This game is harder than you think. I never noticed how much we use the word umm and other interjections until I played this game. It is so much fun trying to describe things without word fillers. Its a lot of fun, and a lot of laughs.

Such a fun game. You’d never play the same game twice because of all the different rule cards.

I played this with my family and during game night, and getting everyone to join in was a bit of a challenge at first. Some people were hesitant because they were convinced they’d say “umm” too much and couldn’t handle the pressure. To ease them into it, we played a round without that rule, which helped everyone feel more comfortable and willing to give it a shot. Once they got into the groove, they realized how fun and engaging it was and even commented, “Oh, this is kind of like Taboo!” It ended up being a great icebreaker and a big hit!

We played this almost all the way up to the ball drop! It's fun, it really makes you think, and we were laughing at all the clever rules that get added later on! You definitely want this game in your collection!

Great game of you have the number of people for the game. Better in larger groups.

I liked this game because it was very interactive and I got to have a lot of fun and creativity with my friends and family. However, it was challenging to do for the first few rounds because it was confusing and there were rules that we kept forgetting. Overall, I thought it was a solid game. Highly recommend especially for parties and reunions to break the ice.

My friends and I played this on our game night and loved it. It’s kind of like the friendly kid version of taboo and charades. We had a blast playing this and would recommend!

This game is great fun and has a lot of twists to it. Perfect family fun for all ages. Some of the rules are a little confusing but if you just have fun with it then it doesn’t matter anyway.

We got this game through a promotion from Big Potato Games & played it with a group of friends during a Friendsgiving get together. It was a little confusing to understand at first but as soon as we got the hang of it, it was great! It was really funny seeing who could handle not saying Umm & who couldn't!
