DUMB
Catch 22. This us the dumbest robot vacuum out of 3 brands. It gets itself cornered and gives up before it finds the way out. You can't use no go zones until it's created a map and it can't create a map because it keeps getting stuck that cancels the mapping. You have to put up barricades to complete a map. Once the map is created you can modify it all you want. First you install all your no go zones and then create your rooms. You can have one big giant room or as many little ones as you like. If you want to do full house you can designate the order they're done. You can also send it off to any room(s) to do whatever. It can mop/vac, vac only or mop only. You can also preprogram the vac power, mop water use and number of times (1 or 2) to go over an area. So, overall, I give it a -1 star for its ability to get itself out of jams but 4 stars for its overall versatility. I've seen it bang itself six times in the exact same direction and I just can't see how the developers allowed that to happen. The vacuum cannot be any smarter than the developers.

Not their best
I've been using Roborock for many years and have upgraded multiple times and always been thrilled, until this model. It needs constant babysitting, loses the map information randomly, in just a few months Ive had to remap the house 5 or 6 times. The emptying function quick working within weeks. I will give another model a chance to reinstill my faith in the products but this one has me disappointed. I see now it's one of the lowest price models. Maybe you gerbwhat you pay for?

Dock issues
it works great, however, after some time it has a hard time returning to dock. This is the SECOND roborock I've returned! It will try for 10+ minutes getting connected to its dock before giving up and a draining it's battery. I have followed all instructions, never moved/touched dock after set up, and have nothing in its way to prevent it from having trouble going back... aside from that headache, it cleans well and mops well.

Vacuum might work fine, not sure. Bought a brand new one but Target sold me a used one that had someone’s Christmas ornament hooks tangled inside the roller. Review rates Target not the item.

Trash. Worked for a month, then the app had a bunch of map issues and the Roborock would no longer go into certain rooms. The final straw was then I room it docks in became an "unrecognizable room" it couldn't go anywhere in the house. I found this out after I set to to clean a selected room while I was out and it sat in one spot for 44 minutes and sprayed water. My laminate floor is now ruined in that spot. Customer service has been terrible. They seem to not understand what the issue is and have offered zero valid or workable solutions. I haven't even had the Roborock 2 months yet... hoping to have a positive response to ongoing customer service requests with the company and that they will replace my flooring in the damaged area. Buy a different brand!!!!

Helpful, when it actually works
This was great when I first got it. About a month in it started routinely disconnecting from wireless, requiring me to reconnect every time I wanted to use it. Never fully empties the dustbin so I have to clean the vacuum out by hand. About two months in, lost the ability to find its dock even with all sensors cleaned and instead moseys around my house for about twenty minutes nowhere near the dock in its attempts to find it until I have to pick it up and put it back. Choose a different vacuum.

I have only had the vacuum for about a month and it stopped responding. Tech support for this item from the manufacturer is terrible. I tried factory reset, but nothing is working. The device was on the charger and fully charged according to the app.

Not a mop
This is my second Roborock purchase. I was excited about the mop feature.....that quickly ended watching the mop make streaks across the floor, not even mopping the entire floor. There is only 1 nozzle to distribute the cleaning solution, so in turn you get only the middle of the mop wet= stripes. Kinda ridiculous. This isn't a mop.

Terrible Roborock customer service
After a month of using this vacuum 1-2 times a week it stopped charging and will back off of the charger every time I try to charge it. Anytime I’m ready to use it it’s dead due to this. Roborock customer service is absolutely awful. They don’t listen to you and all they offer is for you to send it overseas for repair on your dime. Thankfully Target made it right. Don’t waste your money on this brand!

Wake Up!
It cleans pretty well, but if you don't use it regularly, it tends to shut down and is really difficult to wake back up. I feel like I have to set it up all over again every single time I use it.

Very good daily cleaner with a few persistent annoyances
The Roborock S5 Max is genuinely great at its core tasks: it vacuums thoroughly, maps intelligently, and mops competently. Most days it starts, cleans the entire floor, mops where requested, and returns to base without any human help. However, the lack of basic status feedback (water level and bag fullness) in an otherwise feature-rich app feels like a strange omission in 2025, and the minor mechanical quirks (spinning, dragging the mat, overly sensitive sensor warnings) add up over time. If you can accept physically checking the water tank and accepting the occasional odd behavior, it is still one of the best value robot vacuum/mop hybrids available. If you strongly prefer a more “finished” experience with proper tank/bag monitoring and quieter emptying, consider stepping up to the newer Roborock Q Revo or S8 series. Recommended with the above reservations – a solid 4-star performer that could easily be 4.7 stars with a few software and minor hardware refinements.
