  • A: Yes, but the contents will be warm/hot depending on outside temps. If they are in sunlight for extended periods, they will suffer sun damage just like anything else. They become brittle and prone to cracking. Ask me how I know. After losing several to sun damage I chose to cover them with a tarp that had UV protection.

These Rubbermaid Roughneck storage bins are more sturdy than the competition. They do not crack and can tolerate temperature extremes. The lids do not form an air-tight seal, but they do keep the dust off the contents.

Overall, thick plastic, but lids still broke

I bought 5 of these & of those, the lids broke on 2 of them already (after just 3 months). The plastic is quite thick, which I like, but the lids haven't held up as I had hoped. Supposedly there's a "lifetime warranty" on these...so I will have to contact Rubbermaid. (Wish me luck...)

Not the Rubbermaid totes you remember.

I remember having these totes growing up. They were indestructible. These are a far cry from those old totes. Material is it's sturdy, and the lids just barely fit, popping right back off if there's nothing on top of it. I'm returning every single one.

Great totes

What’s not to love affordable not to big so anyone can carry it no matter what u can cram into it. And it holds up the best out of any totes I’ve owned. Some may get warped if u store it weird where it’s not put together. But still will click together and keep your stuff safe. I have about 9 totes of kids clothes and use duct tape to label them and keep my house organized!

Perfect for my needs

I actually got this to convert to a litter box for my cat who likes to kick up a storm and make a mess of a regular litter box. I lined the Rubbermade Roughneck storage tote with a thick garbage bag, filled it with cat litter and cut a whole in the lid for entrance/exit and it works perfectly for my needs.

Don't buy these!!

These were terrible! The kids don’t even latch or fit tightly - they say Rubbermaid on them but don’t seem as well maid as Rubbermaid brand. Wish I could return them but I don’t have time! Waste of $200.

Good size storage use

Great containers!

The totes are a nice size allowing me to store an array of items like clothing, books, old toys, and more.
