Q: Help cup is leaking. No dents around the cup and there is suction. Should I get regular size

submitted by Kayla - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Kayla! Thank you so much for sending us this question. Connect with us at sayhey@saaltco.com and someone on our team will be able to help you troubleshoot.

    submitted bymmaddie27 - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi. I've noticed that if I have leaking problems it could be two things, not suctioned properly or the cup is full. I know for days 1 and 2 I need to empty the cup every 2-3 hours or I start leaking.

submitted byecofriendlygirl - 2 months ago

Q: I’ve never had kids but I have a high cervix. What size should I get?

submitted by Valentine - 6 years ago
  • A: The height of the cervix does matter because the smaller and/or shorter cups can move and get stuck or 'snug' near a high cervix. The smaller size may cause aggravation when you need to remove it....you may need to bear down and squat a lot while removing a size small cup. (Remember to pinch the base/bottom of the cup and don't 'yank' the stem when you remove.) I would say get the size regular for a high cervix plus normal or heavy flow. You could get the small size if your flow is very light and you don't mind 'going fishing' for the cup. (I am a beginner with cups so don't quote me on this... I heard a lot of personal stories about smaller cups being hard to remove. They don't always sit near the opening, and in many people's experience they will move up when exercising and sleeping. Some people use two different size cups for different phases of the menstrual period or one size for sleeping and another for exercising or heavy days. I wish there was a definitive final answer for those who don't know what size to get, but everyone's bodies are different. I say research the reviews, and decide based on cup dimensions and your personal flow.

submitted byAcidWashDenimConnoisseur - 5 years ago
  • A: Most brands do sell a different size for women who have given birth and for women who have not, but this brand's sizes work differently. The sizes for this particular brand are based on capacity. I feel like selling one for light to medium flow and medium to heavy flow is just marketing - why would anyone choose one that held less? Anyway, the height of your cervix doesn't matter for menstrual cups because it will sit very close to the vaginal opening. I've been using them for 11 years and I would never go back.

submitted byCurious - 6 years ago

Q: How much does it hold? Mine is full after 3 hrs. I have very heavy flows and am trying to find one that might hold more.

submitted by JPlotner3 - 2 months ago
  • A: I have heavy flows on day 1 and 2 and have to empty every 2-3 hours.

submitted byecofriendlygirl - 2 months ago

Q: I have a low cervix but I have a super heavy flow with clotting, too. What size should I get?

submitted by Angryparent - 9 months ago
  • A: If you have a low cervix the Small Cup would be our recommendation but you will need to empty it more frequently. You may also want to consider a small disc which holds more capacity and can be a more comfortable option for a lower cervix.

Q: Sincen when do they sell these cups in stores? ive never heard of them? do they hold the menstrual blood? do you empty the cup in the toilet? i just dont get it! How do they stop from spilling?

submitted by julie - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Julie, thank you so much for your question. We have been on shelves in Target since 2019! Saalt Cups collect menstrual flow rather than absorb like a traditional tampon. The Saalt Cup sits in the vaginal canal, below the cervix. When positioned properly, you won't even notice it's there. Once inserted, it molds to your internal shape so you can comfortably wear it all day or night, leak-free.If you have more specific questions, please reach out to our support team at sayhey@saalt.com!

It is extremely difficult to get out. I don’t even want to wear it again. I tried it twice. The longer I kept it in the higher it went up and more difficult it was to take out.

I was really scared after reading some reviews about the cup getting stuck and being hard to remove—and that’s exactly what happened at first. But once I figured out how to break the seal created by the vacuum, it came out easily. I stayed calm (very important) and used a paper towel for a better grip, which worked much better than toilet paper. This is my first time using a cup, and I’m surprised by how comfortable it is—I don’t feel it at all once it’s in. Insertion was easy, but removal definitely takes some practice.

This cup is amazing! I used Diva cup for years, but after kids I found it uncomfortable and it caused cramping. The Saalt cup is shorter, which seems to work well for me. The stem was uncomfortable, but I also had to cut the stem off my dive cup. I cut the stem off my saalt cup, and now I can’t feel it at all. It’s comfortable, and easier to insert than diva cup.

The disclaimer here is that pre-pregnancy I used a Diva cup, and I bought this one postpartum. The different shape took some getting used to and even after using this one for about a year now, I just don’t find it to be totally reliable. Giving four stars because it could be a me problem and not a product problem.

Not FSA eligible in practice

I purchased this item trying to use up my FSA dollars by the end of the year, but the receipt does not make it clear that the item is FSA eligible. I went to the store in person to request a receipt that I could use to submit a reimbursement claim, and they couldn’t provide one. Instead, they gave me a phone number to call. When I made the call, the person whom I spoke with did not know what an FSA was and told me to call back at another time. Now it’s too late to get reimbursed.

I have been using a Diva cup for years, but tried this one because it was available locally when I needed a replacement. The Saalt was easy enough to insert and I didn’t feel it while wearing it, but it leaked throughout the day. When it was time to remove it, it was extremely difficult. The cup sat too high and I could not break the seal. It was the first time I had to consider going to urgent care to have a menstrual cup removed. Luckily, after several hours (total wear of about 16 hours at this point), it finally got low enough that I could remove it. I threw it away and will not be trying it again. I would not recommend this product.

I never leave reviews. But this was my 3rd menstrual cup I’ve tried. First one too small. Leaked and kept sliding down throughout the day. The second one too large and literally pushed itself out all day long and very uncomfortable. I got the regular size in this Saalt one and it’s right in between the small and large one I had and it’s perfect! Doesn’t leak, doesn’t slide out (even with my runs) and isn’t uncomfortable. I am 40 yrs old, have one kid by c-section. The regular is perfect! There is a technique to place and I feel like it’s individualized depending on everyone’s anatomy. I’m usually a very crampy person and the menstrual cup seems to help reduce the cramping somehow. I wish I would’ve tried much sooner. Each month I use it, it gets easier and quicker. Definitely has a learning curve, but SO worth it! I love the clean feeling, and hours and hours of not having to worry about pads or tampons. I love this brand. Glad I tried it. It’s my “go to” now.

Let’s be real here- almost no one likes getting their period. Anyone with a uterus knows it’s painful and a pain in the butt to find products that don’t leak. But this cup- has been a game changer. I used to use a menstrual cup off Amazon but decided to upgrade and I’m so glad I did. First of all- if you get a bag that isn’t one of their designs, they put a coupon code in the box for you to go and get a cup bag for free! So that’s a plus. It’s comfortable, easy to use, and I don’t feel like I’m sitting in my own blood like I do with pads or worried about changing it every 6-8 hours like a tampon. I just change it every twelve hours and I’m good to go. My cramps are better and I find myself not even noticing I’m on my period. If you have been looking to try a menstrual cup, look no further. This has really impressed me.

As a sufferer of endometriosis, I have always had the heaviest periods. I have often had to use tampons and pads at the same time and still experience leaks. But this little contraption has been a game-changer. I sometimes forget I'm even on my period because all I have to do is put it in in the morning, and switch it out at night. It's so much more reliable than a pad or tampon, it saves money, it's environmentally friendly, and it's just soooo good. I am just upset I didn't switch sooner! Never going back. 10/10 recommend.

Best Purchase Ever

Menstrual Blues Janay - 8 months ago, Verified purchaser
I don’t usually leave reviews, but I had to share my experience with the Saalt menstrual cup, it’s truly the best purchase I’ve ever made! I used to struggle with heavy periods, relying on super+ tampons that often leaked and required frequent changes every 2-3 hours. After a procedure, my flow increased even more, and I was exhausted from juggling multiple products each month: maxi pads for overnight, super+ tampons all day, and thin pads for backup in case I leaked. Deciding to try the Saalt cup was a game changer. Now, I only need to empty and rinse it once during the day and again before bed, with zero leakage, even on my heaviest days, which is pretty heavy. Initially, I found it a bit tricky to insert and remove, but after watching a few helpful Saalt videos on YouTube, I mastered it in no time. I used to think menstrual cups were complicated and unappealing, but I’ve completely changed my mind. The Saalt cup has simplified my period routine, and I won’t be going back to traditional products. Highly recommend!

You can read instructions online for finding the height of your cervix. If it is high, and you have a heavy flow, I recommend this cup! I have a strong pelvic floor so I wanted a cup that does NOT bend easily once in place. This cup is PERFECT! It's easy to get in place, does not leak, and you can't feel it once it's in!

I’m going to share a lot of details on my experience with this cup so beware of a longer review. I tried the smaller pink version of this cup years ago and couldn’t get past the learning curve of inserting it and thought it was too small for my flow so I went back to pads. Recently I wanted to try period cups again since pads are so expensive now and have less waste. I got this blue cup since it’s larger and on my real heavy days I still have to empty the cup every two hours minimum… Whenever the cup leaks I can feel the seal kind of pop inside of me and it gets messy quick so if you have a heavy flow wear a liner or some sort of backup for leaks on those heavy days because it can be unforgiving the second it happens. The quality of the cup feels nice I took off a star because I feel like if the cup was a little bit softer it would be easier to fold and feel more comfortable inserting and wearing throughout the day since it feels kind of stiff, hopefully with more use it’ll loosen up. On my regular and light days I can definitely wear the cup for 8 hours or even more but like I mentioned on the heavy days the cup doesn’t save me extra trips to the restroom like I was hoping. Overall I like it and think it works well it helps to go on tiktok or YouTube and look for tips on how to use if it’s your first time.

I read the reviews after I purchased this and got scared. Nothing like getting something stuck in there to make you regret your purchase. Anyway I decided to give it a go. I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS. super easy to insert and remove. Doesn’t hurt AT ALL. Doesn’t leak either. I don’t feel it at all. Don’t let the reviews scare you. If you follow their instructions and do some research (or YouTube) it’s very easy to get the hang of. After hearing about tampons containing lead I knew I had to make the switch. I just wish I had done it sooner. I would purchase this again!!!

I like that it’s a pretty color. It was pretty annoying putting in at first. I find the pinch method works the best for insertion for me. I find it’s easier to break the suction by pushing on the sides of the cup. There’s some reviews here pulling. Do NOT pull. Break the suction. You can cause a uterine prolapse if you just try to pull it out. It stays in pretty well. I had a baby so my older cup didn’t work as well for me anymore. This one stays. The silicone isn’t stiff. I don’t think the stem is too long. Also another pro tip - if you get insane cramps with cups, you’re probably putting the cups too close to your cervix. Sometimes your cervix is high and other times it is low. If it’s low, the cups could be on it/touching it and your cervix doesn’t like to be touched. This is my 3rd cup I’ve had and I think it’s great.

Really tough material and not easy to get into place. Also when you try and pull it out, it is really hard to get a grip on the tab on the bottom. You almost have to go back up to the top right and push
1 reply from Saalt team - 10 months ago
I'm sorry you had a hard time with your Saalt cup! It sounds like a soft cup might be better for you. Many users think it is easier to get in and out, as it's made with a softer silicone making it less firm. Also, the tab is actually not meant for removal! You should walk your fingers up the stem to the base of the cup and pinch to release the seal. Removal should be much easier then! It is definitely a learning curve, so we completely understand and are here for you and all your questions. If you reach out to sayhey@saalt.com our Saalt coaches would love to help you :)

I’m about 300 lbs and 5”3 and have had heavy periods all my life. I took my birth control implant out last month and was researching period products to try because I always had heavy periods. I got this cup cause it was affordable and I could have it delivered quick. After trying it for the first time I would say it has managed to catch all the blood and I haven’t had to wear pads with the underwear. I’ve only been using it at home because I need to practice inserting and and taking it out. After 1 hour of trying and some lube I did manage to get this in and the next morning when I pulled it out it caught all the blood and no leaks. If you are plus size, have a big V, or high entrance I think something with a longer tab would be preferred. With some practice I do think I will continue to use this but will also be purchasing different ones. In the morning I panicked because it was pretty in there and I couldn’t get it out. After a quick google search I tried pushing like I was using the bathroom and the cup slid down more so I was able to pull it out. as someone who would soak through over night pads AND ultra size tampons I do recommend this practice just give yourself time to practice and you might be sore the first few times of trying it but worth to not have to wear what feels like diapers 😭.
