Q: I’ve never had kids but I have a high cervix. What size should I get?

submitted by Valentine - 3 years ago
  • A: The height of the cervix does matter because the smaller and/or shorter cups can move and get stuck or 'snug' near a high cervix. The smaller size may cause aggravation when you need to remove it....you may need to bear down and squat a lot while removing a size small cup. (Remember to pinch the base/bottom of the cup and don't 'yank' the stem when you remove.) I would say get the size regular for a high cervix plus normal or heavy flow. You could get the small size if your flow is very light and you don't mind 'going fishing' for the cup. (I am a beginner with cups so don't quote me on this... I heard a lot of personal stories about smaller cups being hard to remove. They don't always sit near the opening, and in many people's experience they will move up when exercising and sleeping. Some people use two different size cups for different phases of the menstrual period or one size for sleeping and another for exercising or heavy days. I wish there was a definitive final answer for those who don't know what size to get, but everyone's bodies are different. I say research the reviews, and decide based on cup dimensions and your personal flow.

submitted byAcidWashDenimConnoisseur - 2 years ago
  • A: Most brands do sell a different size for women who have given birth and for women who have not, but this brand's sizes work differently. The sizes for this particular brand are based on capacity. I feel like selling one for light to medium flow and medium to heavy flow is just marketing - why would anyone choose one that held less? Anyway, the height of your cervix doesn't matter for menstrual cups because it will sit very close to the vaginal opening. I've been using them for 11 years and I would never go back.

Mess Free Period on my WEDDING DAY

5 out of 5 stars
Amansa - 4 days ago
originally posted on Saalt
I have been a back and forth cup user for a number of years trying other competitions period products. I was using my salt cup for a while and was honestly pretty neutral about it. That is until my wedding day came. I knew that there was a chance my period would start, so I put in my Saalt cup “just in case” and went on with my big day as normal. At the end of the night I was so shocked to see that my cup was completely full! I had started my period and didn’t even know it. I can’t imagine how this would have went if I didn’t put my cup in. I didn’t have to deal with changing pads or tampons with my white wedding dress. Ever since that day I have been a full saalt concert. Saalt enables me to have confidence in living my daily life period mess free. I also have more connection to my period and cycle changes which I appreciate. Thank you saalt team for making such a great product. Highly recommend and won’t shut up about saalt cups with my period having pals.

I was really happy with this product. It is a little messy when removing but I got it figured out eventually. Everything was great. Until 1 minute ago. I retrieved it from it's bag to use and found it had broken. All on its own while sitting stored for the last month. Definitely not a 10 year life span. And conveniently just past the target 90 day return policy. Mathematically it cost more than tampons and or pads.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Why didn't anyone tell me about this sooner?!?! Definitely took a few cycles to completely figure everything out, but my cup is my favorite thing. No smell, no mess, completely comfortable. Recently wore one the day I was due to start and didn't realize I actually had started my period until I removed it at the end of the day.

I’ve been using the Saalt cup for two years now and it’s the best period product I’ve used. I’ll often forget I’m on my period since it feels like totally nothing! Best decision I ever made for myself, makes being on my period each month a lot easier! <3

i never write reviews but i feel like my voice wil help others that are maybe doubting if the mestrual cup is life changing… bc it is!😭 i have been a tampon user for years but yesterday i was tempted for this cup since i kept seeing everyone rave over it on tik tok. Honestly for me it was easy with the C- fold to insert and removing it was easy as well. I find it easier to kinda stand and hunch over when removing it, and it literally slips right in. I slept with it last night and zero leakage, i feel like my cramps even went away. i 100% recommended but know everybody is different!

First if you read the 1 star reviews, they are probably completely valid. I can see why some might be frustrated or irritated by a cup-or this cup. Second, this is the Only cup I have ever tried-And this is only day two using it that I am reviewing it. Here’s my thoughts: It was a little nervous thinking of how to get it in there, there is a chart that shows you three recommended ways, I did the push down and pinch option-worked perfect. It was definitely tricky to find a comfortable placement. The first time you use it expect to spend 5-15 minutes figuring it out. I did not do this in the showing but seated on the toilet, I did wet it as some suggest. I was afraid it was too far, not far enough, not straight-I just put on a pad and went about my day. By the time came to remove and empty it was definitely hard the first time. I DID NOT TRIM THE STEM. Where my stem ends it is not noticeable to the touch or feel. I did pull by the stem but close to the base so I didn’t tear it and kind of rocked it back and forth pinching the cup as I could. By the end of day two I figured out how to grasp at the base of the cup-pinch and pull/rock out of position. I do not notice it when it’s in. I am a super heavy bleeder the first two days so I kept a pad on and there was very little leakage. Sleeping with in was totally fine. I have had 3 kids, so does that make a difference, I don’t know. I like this and would recommend. I will consider getting a second back up one and try another brand to compare but this is totally good for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was unsure what to think when I ordered the menstrual cup since I had never used one before. I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I have loved it. It did take some getting used to with a lot of trial and error but there were so many helpful resources for using the cup. So thankful to no longer have to spend money every month buying tampons. Worth the investment!

After many years using cup from another brand i decided to switch to saalt. It’s easy to remove, no leaking at all… I give 4/5 star only because I find it difficult to insert since is very soft and a little bit bigger than what I thought (got smal size), maybe I should try the teen one.

This cup is extremely stiff and uncomfortable. I have been using a menstrual cups for several years and have always been satisfied, but wanted to try something new this time around. This cup is so stiff and the material so hard that it constantly gets stuck or rips out when I try to ease it or causes my insides severe pain because there’s not enough flexibility. Not sure what went wrong with the manufacturing with this product, but I will never be purchasing this brand again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ordered my first Saalt cup in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. I now love it for so many more reasons than just that! It's more comfortable, less leaks, no odor, fewer changes. The cup itself came with great instructions for use and care that were very helpful for a first time user and they have great customer service if you have any additional questions. I highly recommend Saalt and only wish I had switched to period cups sooner!

Seriously what have I been doing my whole life! I have always been scared to try a menstrual cup, but wanted to make the switch so I decided to give this a try. I watched YouTube videos to help visualize how to use this. Once I figured it out I have had zero problems. I can put this in and go about my day without having to worry about leaks or smells. This is amazing!

Eh. I liked Cora brand better

3 out of 5 stars
CS Collett - 2 months ago, Verified purchaser
I was using a Cora cup for several months and then it broke. They didn’t have it in stock so I tried the Saalt cup instead. I liked that it wasn’t as flimsy feeling, but sometimes that makes it a little difficult to put in. Also, I’ve had way more leaks with the Saalt cup than I did with the Cora. And it’s not overflowing—like it’ll leak and very little will be in the cup. I’ve adjusted it and done everything to ensure it was placed correctly. Not sure what the problem is but I’ve been having to use a pad or liner most days to catch the leaks. Maybe not the best option for heavy flow.

Somewhat traumatic to remove

Insertion was okay. I had a bit of trouble getting it in at first, but then I realized I could feel the stem and didn't like that. So I struggled a bit to take it out, then cut off the stem to the lowest line. Very bad decision. I got the cup in and realized it had gone pretty far up. I tried to take it out and it wouldn't budge. I started panicking and ended up squatting on the floor desperately trying to get the cup out. The cup got a bit rotated and the remaining bit of stem caused the cup to get further stuck. After 15 minutes of sheer terror I managed to break the seal on the cup and pinch the end, then finally got it out. I will never use this cup again, it went straight in the trash after that.

No Leaks!

I bought the Saalt cup, size regular, and it was my first time trying a menstrual cup. I watched all the videos and read all the instructions and felt like I had the hang of it quickly. It was very easy to use and easy to remove by bearing down to push it down and make it easier to reach. I had no leaks and it was so nice to not worry about pads or liners!! My only issue was that it was hard for me to urinate with the cup in, so I had to remove it more often but it was still worth it to me. I recently switched to the Saalt disc which fixed that problem! But both Saalt products have been completely leak-free for me from day one!

Period after 10 years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had an IUD on and off for 10 years. Just recently I was able to finally get rid of it and started towards a healthier life for my mind and body. Before I had gotten my IUD I struggled with HORRIBLE periods and was truly terrified to start having one again after my removal. I knew that I wanted to stop using tampons and give Cup a try as I started to get my period again. I was honestly terrified to try the cup but once I placed it I couldn’t believe how great I felt. How great it felt being able to move and not feel pain, to be able to still live my active life as a yogi and mother of three without feeling inconvenienced by my period and what came along with it. I’ve now had my second period and I can whole heartedly say that I recommend to is product to everyone now. I love it so much and truly truly believe it is the reason (along with my lifestyle changes) having a period brings me no pain or stress. I haven’t had one cramp since I started using my cup and truly believe it’s because I’m not giving my body a tampon anymore. I need more than one that’s for sure so I can just have them everyone just in case but 1000000% recommend and just thank you so much for offering such a great product!
