I have bought two of these vacuums over the last few years and so far both of the vacuum hoses have ripped. I don't think I am rough with them so it has to be a quality issue. Maybe I just need a tougher vacuum. They also don’t have replacement hoses for purchase so I had to duct tape it and will have to start looking for a new vacuum. I really did like them before the hoses ripped! It had great suction and I loved that you could “lift away” the body to make it easier to vacuum stairs and tight spaces.
This vacuum worked great - for about one year. We have 3 girls in our house with long hair. I'd have to constantly have to cut the hair off the rollers for other vacuums, but I did not have to cut the hair off of this one. Unfortunately, just recently the vacuum stopped working. We checked all the hoses and parts to see if the hoses were clogged. Nothing was wrong except for maybe the engine. It's dead.

I bought this vacuum over a year ago and it is still going strong. When we were moving out of our apartment and paid someone to clean it, we offered our vacuum, unaware that it would be treated like the high-powered vacuum the housecleaners USUALLY use. When I got it to our new house, it wasn't working, but when I pulled the hoses out and emptied them...I found they were full of basically anything and everything including a TON of puzzle pieces. As soon as these were clear, it picked right up and kept going, hasn't stopped since. I honestly don't get all these negative reviews. Maybe I am just old-fashioned, but yeah, you have to clean the brush head manually from time to time. Since you can REMOVE the part, it's nowhere near as hard as cleaning a clunky huge ancient vacuum used to be. The liftaway is heckin' convenient, I use it to clean my couch and suck up pet hair all the time and I have a long-haired cat who sheds more or less constantly. The appliance tool is great for sucking up dust and cobwebs where I can't reach...and since I run into stuff all the time while I vacuum, I don't even wanna know how hard you have to be on this poor thing to crack the SWIVEL. This isn't some thin, cheap plastic. And no one at Shark is paying me, this ism't a rigged review...I just love my vacuum that much. It's done right by me and I'll keep using it as long as it lasts. Only minor complaint I have is having to replace filters so often, but I can deal with that to keep my house hair and allergy free. I do not think you will be disappointed if you pick up this guy or one of his Shark cousins and use it at home. Just don't be afraid of a tiny bit of maintenance and don't slam into wrecking balls or headlong into walls with it and you should be fine. My next vacuum will for SURE be a Shark. Happy customer here whether anyone else is or not.
Happy in Michigan - 1 month ago, Verified purchaser
I am very happy that I made this purchase. I I I have been using a Kirby for years and it just became useless for the carpets in my home. I am handicapped so it’s difficult for me to do any real cleaning, but my housekeeper uses it twice a week and was amazed at the amount of dirt and waste picked up that left by the old vacuum. Thanks so much for making a good economical machine.
This vacuum definitely sucks up more hair and dirt than my previous vacuums; however, I don’t like the two small attachments that it comes with. They are too small, don’t work well on stairs and cause the vacuum to fall over constantly while using them.
This vacuum is light weight and handy, but within the 2nd month, a single small piece came loose, that held the cover onto the top portion. I cement glued it in place, which worked for another few months, but now the piece has disappeared, rendering the vacuum useless. The piece is not available via replacement parts. Off to buy a different vacuum. Other than that, the vacuum was fine. (rolling eyes). In the future, I'll stick with Bissel or Hoover.
