A: Thank you for your question. The Riverstone Extra Tall and Wide Baby Gate easily uninstalls by using the small wrench included with the hardware set to loosen each tension knob.

Q: can we place this gate at the top of the stairs? does it come with hardware to secure it to the wall or just a pressure gate?

A: Thank you for your question. Because the Riverstone Extra Tall and Wide Baby Gate is strictly pressure-mounted gate, it should not be used at the top of the stairs. The mounting hardware is included with the gate, but the hardware only installs it with tension and does not permanantly attach it to the mounting surface.

A: Thank you for your question. There are not additional extensions available to increase the size of the Riverstone Extra Tall and Wide Baby Gate. The maximum width it will fit is 52 inches.

Q: when opening, do you have to unlatch at top and bottom? will it swing shut and latch or do you have to manually latch? Will the gate accommodate different widths at top and bottom of opening?

A: Thank you for reaching out to us with these questions. To open the door panel of the gate, you do not have unlatch the top and bottom. You simply use your thumb to slide a tab on the upper latch, while also squeezing the trigger on the underside of the upper latch. Then, lift the door panel upwards simultaneously, allowing the door to swing open. To close the gate, simply release it and it will auto-close and latch. It does have a stay-open feature, however, and this can be used by opening the door further than 90 degrees. It then will remain open until it is swung closed. This should only be use by adults and not when children are present. The gate can accomodate a slight variance in the upper and lower measurements, but it really depends on the difference. To get a better idea, you can view the instruction manual for the gate to determine if the two measurements you need fall into the window that allows the gate to fit your space. The instruction manual can be found on the manufacture's website.

It was easy to install in minutes, and I would definitely trust it for a stairway. I use it to separate my dog and my four-month-old baby, which gives me peace of mind. I wasn’t sure if the first spot I chose was the best, since proper installation would mean removing baseboards, but I think I’ll set it up at the stairs where it fits perfectly.

What a headache! Bought this baby gate to keep the dog away from the cat’s food. It is unreasonably difficult to put together. The connector pieces are near identical, and if you happen to put them in the wrong spot, good luck getting them back out. I put the entire gate together, placed it where it needed to go, and realized the plastic piece that holds the bottom of the door is broken. Took it all apart to return and Target sent a replacement. Easier to put together the second time, but the extension connector on one side is so loose it doesn’t hold at all. I figure the tension will hold it- whatever. The double-sided adhesive tab that goes between the wall and the tension bolts will DESTROY your wall, so you’ve really got one shot at that. Oh, and one of my tension bolts came screwed so tightly to itself that it took the help of several tools to loosen. I’m also missing one of the exterior caps, so one of the tension bolts is just in there loosey goosey. Whatever. It’s up. Would not recommend this to anyone who values their time or sanity.

I bought this when a was pregnant and about to deliver. I knew I would eventually need it so I went ahead and bought it. I had my daughter December 7, 2021. I didn’t assemble and start using the gate until June 2023. It’s already broken and since I bought it over a year before I even needed it my warranty has expired. I do not recommend this product.

I needed a high quality baby gate that was not for a baby. I needed something well built and extremely sturdy, because it was to protect a family member with dementia, who wanders into unsafe places. This was exactly what I was looking for. This is a steel rod gate, with plastic locking parts. The system for opening the gate is challenging enough that a person with dementia couldn't open the gate, and it's heavy duty and very solid, so they couldn't break through it, or push it over. This is an excellent product and it is high enough that someone can't climb or jump over it. I did have to take off one star from my review due to a couple of things. One, there are cups that need to be installed to the wall, prior to installation, with either screws or double sided tape. Unfortunately, who ever packed my shipment failed to be able to count to four, and only provided three of the essential pieces of double sided tape. I had to find my own, before I could install the gate. Two, the instructions continually state that you have to add the single rod prior to adding any additional extensions. This is not true. After attempting to do what the instructions said, I finally removed the single rod, which was unnecessary, and used the two bar extension, which made the gate fit perfectly tight. There was no reason to add the single bar. Overall, this is an exceptional and well built product. There are extentions included, so it fits most large and small doorways.
