Q: Will this work on my 3A hair (fine, w/ loose curls, and pretty flat at the roots--I'm white) -- that is, will it define my loose curls or is it made for stronger curls/coils?, and will this weigh down my hair, furthering the root-lift problem? Tx.

A: I was kind of hesitant to buy this but I was looking for something to make my fuzzy hair more curly. I'm white too and this stuff works great. After 3 pumps, I use Got2Be gel to finish my look.

A: This product has a Natural Fragrance *All Natural or Naturally Derived. It is made with natural ingredients so I don't think you would have a reaction to the product.

This product gives great definition to my medium density, fine strands 4b-c hair. It definitely gave me the look and hold I needed for a wash and go. However, the hydrolyzed protein made my low porosity hair feel very hard and stiff over time after a few uses with consecutive wash and gos, even when only using a little bit on soaking wet hair, and caused product buildup. However, i think the addition helps to prevent heat damage if I dont airdry, but I usually do. I think I would use it for slick back or slick up styles that require a lot of hold. However, considering that I like my hair to have movement and not be stiff and hard, I wouldnt use this for my twistouts or any other crafted styles. it’s definitely worth the value and the quantity given in the bottle. however, please be aware of your hair’s porosity and if it is protein sensitive. If you could handle regular use of hydrolyzed wheat protein over time, then I would say it is the product for you.

I used to use this a few years back and I promise this stuff worked great but idk what they changed but my hair does not respond well to this anymore. It looks dehydrated when I use this now. And my curls just don’t last. I probably will discontinue use. I see it still works for others.

I was so excited to try this, as I had heard really good things about it. I have a good amount of hair, usually have to use more product than directed. I used a quarter size amount on my whole head, not sections and my hair comes out super crunchy, and my curls are straight and stick out all over the place. When I use this, it ends up being a pony tail day. I keep using it to get rid of it, but would not recommend to anyone. Keeps the frizz down, but that is because my hair is super hard and almost glued like. Very disappointed.

a lot of people tend to use a product incorrectly then leave bad reviews on the product because it "isn't formulated well" -- please know that you need to use this on soakingggg wet hair for it to turn out well! my hair is low porosity and dense, so i applied it in smaller sections (with a leave in conditioner) and it left my hair shiny, moisturized, and very defined. do know that it doesn't have much hold so with proper sleep care, definition will last about 3-4 days. it works very well as a base gel!

I like this product but it makes my hair look even smaller like it shrunk more compared to how my hair looks without product. I also don’t really like hair products that make my hair feel crunchy. I tried to apply an even amount so my hair wouldn’t shrink too much or feel oversaturated I’m pretty sure I didn’t apply to much tho because it felt soft mostly not crunchy but it did shrink up my hair and give me less volume. It makes my curls very defined, shiny, and nice but I wish it let me have my volume. I prefer going all natural with my hair but people tell me I need moisturizers so I tried this out. But it didn’t work exactly how I wanted it too other than that I like this product besides one ingredient it has in it.

If you like washing your hair every 4-5 days, then this is for you. Leaves my hair heavy even when only using this. Curls start out looking okay but the heaviness of the product and humidity will eventually have you back at the wash bowl. And don’t get me started with the price for the quality of what I received…it’s a no for me.

The product itself works fantastic, but it contains a common allergen that may cause itchy scalp or other allergic reaction. I say common because nettle, an ingredient in this product, was listed as a weed on a skin allergy test I had a year ago. Turns out I'm allergic to nettle and unfortunately I suffered for the last 5 years with severely itchy scalp not realizing until this week it was caused by the curl gels I had been using. I was slathering this all over my hair, as I do after every wash, and happen to notice "nettle" written right on the front of the bottle. That's when the lightbulb went off. I had been using Curly Magic for about 4 years and before that Kinky Curly Curl Custard, which I just discovered contains nettle too. I'm leaving this review in hopes that it helps others and hopefully the company will see this review and consider reformulating without nettle. I found other online complaints of itchy scalp/allergic reactions from using Curly Magic. Common allergens shouldn't be in skin/hair products in my opinion. Sad to discontinue this product, but grateful to be relieved of an itchy scalp.

This transformed my hair! I have wavy to curly, thin, and fine caucasian hair. My previous products, which I had used for years, were leaving my hair limp, stringy, weighed down, and had lost a lot of my curl pattern. 2nd day hair was straight and lifeless. My first time using this and I'm blown away - nice waves and fullness, and 2nd day hair was still very wavy and full. I'm so happy to have found this product! Feels very lightweight on my hair.
