Vornado EVDC500 Humidifier: Portable Evaporative, 2-Gallon Capacity, Quiet Operation, Large Room 300-900 sq. ft.

I had a smaller one the ran 24/7, this one get it done faster and goes quite till it's needed. Having two reservoirs, lasts all night and well in to the day.

I leave it on the auto/eco mode and it quietly purrs, I love it. The humidistat doesn't show what the current reading is, just the set point, but based on when the fan starts and what two other devices show for rh% it's got to be dead on. Easy to take apart and clean too

The humidifier reservoirs are easy to fill and clean. Due to the way the unit is designed, the base is very easy to clean when replacing filters. It maintains a constant humidity in the house; and is very quiet.

I bought this and fill both tanks and initially it works, the fans kick on, but after 1-2 minutes, the fans stop. I have an air sensor in my home so my humidity is low, and the device humidity level is set higher, even at max setting it does not kick on. Waste of money and now I have to send it back. I will not be trying Vornado products anymore.

First one received was defective. Fan would not function. You replaced it with another. Thanks for that. The second one doesn't function either. Fan ran for 15 seconds and has stopped working on any setting. Since you do not do refunds and only replace the product I now have two I have to pay to recycle. I sure do not want another one as the two I got were defective out of the box. Bad experience, never again with that model.

Had the unit for a few years. We only ever need them in the winter. Somehow the control panel just won't turn on this year. It was finicky last year and would turn itself off if bumped ever so slightly. It's like the control unit is supposed to sense when everything below it is in position, but even when everything is good to go, it still won't turn on because one of the various sensors isn't working correctly and it won't tell you which one. The added complexity with the unit has made it a less reliable/resilient product. The old, "dumb" humidifiers (all vornado) that we still have for the rest of the house at least still work.

I like the new tank design, and motor warranty. It's very quite also.

This is our second humidifier. We always buy Vonrado for their great design, quiet and reliable operation, and quality.

I bought this version with the two water bottles as well as one with the one water bottle and they all leak. I have to keep the humidifiers on trays to hold all the water that spills out of them.

Though dim, the lights can't be shut off and that's not good for sleep! Only had it one night so don't know how well it performs otherwise.

I have two vornado humidifiers. A single tank one I bought 1 year ago and a dual tank one I bought 1 month ago. They are nicely designed easy to use and clean humidifiers. I've had many ultrasonic ones and hands down this is much better

Decided to try this instead of the cool mist humidifier I had been using for the last few years. (I got tired of the white dust all over everything.) The humidity has yet to go over 40% according to a separate hygrometer that I have set up in the room. That means the device runs continuously because it never gets up to 50%. With continuous running, the pads dry out. I thought running at slower speed might help, but still they dry out. I guess the only solution is to allow for a period of not running at all to enable the pads to soak up the water again. I'm experimenting with how long I can run it without the pads drying out. No answer yet; I've had it less than a month.

Purchased this last January. For the remainder of the heating season it worked great, raising my homes humidity level from 28 to 40 percent. As heating season has just started brought this unit out and filled the tanks. Within hours the tanks were empty, unfortunately most of the water had leaked out onto my carpet. It seems that the valves at the base of the water canisters do not seal and the water overflows from the lower reservoir. Good thing this was not near my wood floors!

Bought two units. One unit worked for about 30 seconds and stopped work. Second unit work for about 1 month and then the fan developed a loud rattle. Not satisfied at all.

On my third winter with this excellent machine. Streamlined modern look, puts out a lot of moisture, the fan makes a "clean" sound that doesn't bother me, even though it's audible, it's easy to fill, easy to take apart and clean. But I wish the wicks lasted longer. I run the machine 24/7 and three to four weeks seems the limit before the wicks are dry. Or I wish I could buy the wicks in quantity and receive a discount; or wicks that can be soaked in cleaner and re-used. Still, a very well designed machine. Wouldn't go through a NYC winter without a humidifier.

I have had a variety of humidifiers over the years and every one of them has had their specific problems when it comes to cleaning them. Just a few months ago, we purchased the Vornado EVDC500. We liked that it had two separate water jugs and the promise of a 'quiet' motor was also a compelling reason to choose this one. Of course, they all say "quiet operation" but after a brief time, it's not so quiet unless you leave it on the lowest setting. The Vornado unit however - I have never had a unit THIS quiet - even with the fan speed on HI. The only time I hear it is in the middle of the night but only if I walk into the living room. Other models I have had, you could hear them running in the next room, even while watching television. So, I am beyond thrilled that this unit is so quiet. In addition, I LOVE that the whole unit dismantles for cleaning. Again, never had a unit so easy to clean. No chemicals needed, no scrubbing with any kind of scrubber - just some warm water and mild soap. And, I can even wipe off the fan blades and the grill at the top of the unit. Never could do that with any other model! Cleaning the Vornado literally takes me 15-20 minutes, compared to other units I've had that would take upwards of an hour to do. I happily recommend this unit!! When people complain about it leaking, I've discovered that it does leak - when I'm replacing the water bottle after filling it, I was pressing it down in place, and that caused some water to spill out somehow. It hasn't done that since I stopped pressing it down when replacing it. The weight is enough for it to settle in place.

Easy to use, easy to fill, easy to clean, but paper filters inside aren't wicking the water up and are mostly dry (right from new). Room humidity rose from around 18% to now around 20% with humidifier on high 24/7. Needs a better filter or occasional pump of water onto the top of the filters to make this work. My old small 1gal ultrasonic (designed for a much smaller room) last year went through 2 gallons/day in the same spot...thought this one rated for 4 gallons/day would give more, not less.

Poor design. When removing the tanks to to refill you will have a trail of dripping water from the humidifier all the way to the sink. Unless of course you wait until it’s completely empty. And don’t even try to move this thing once you have water in the base unless you are prepared with towels to dry your floor. Vornado generally makes good products but this is a huge disappointment. Save yourself money and a headache. Don’t buy.

everything works well but the fan is a little noisy
