A: The installed water filter sponge is optional and helps catch minerals from hard water. Please note that as substances in the water oxidize, it is normal to observe some discoloration.
The filter can last up to a month, depending on the quality of the water and the frequency of use. You can soak the filter in distilled white vinegar and then rinse it under warm water to clean it, or you can opt to leave it out altogether.

DO NOT BUY!!! Bought this unit and set it up to run the first night. Awoke in middle of the night to use bathroom and stepped into a huge puddle of water getting out of bed. Cleaned it up with a towel and checked the seating of the basin on the unit thinking it was sitting wrong. It was not. Went back to sheep and awakened in the morning to another massive puddle and almost completely empty basin. Unit had water dripping from lower half (mechanical area). Cleaned/dried the floor again and returned the unit that morning. Two days later have cupping and sharp edges in the floor boards in a 4x4 area alongside the bed where the unit leaked. Have run fans and a dehumidifier to reduce cupping for three days but floor boards have not returned to shape. $80.00 purchase may turn into a $1000+ repair/replacement.

Issues with leaking even after enduring all seals were clear of debris, tank aligned correctly and unit sitting level. Like most ultrasonic units you really must use distilled water or wind up with a white coating on everything

Cracks in water resevoir
This product is garbage. I bought 2 of the same and they both experienced a crack I. the water reservoir and started leaking rendering the humidifier useless.

Opened the box and noticed the water filter was brown and discolored. Also already programmed for Wi-Fi. I think someone used it and returned it to store or poor quality control. On off button had to be pressed several times to get it to work. I returned it and told staff about it

Great humidifier, but some things to note
I’ve been using the humidifier for about 3 weeks now. The humidifier itself works great and the app is convenient and easy to use. However, there are a few things to note. The pre filter sponge does need to be changed every week or 2- that may simply be due to the water quality where we live. We do have a water softener but still get a bit a white dust if we our tap water, so that’s something to keep in mind if not using distilled water as recommended. Inside the mist tube is a white plastic piece that can not be taken out. Ours grew some pink mold on it which is extremely hard to clean off. The humidifier does come with a cleaning brush, but it’s too short to reach down in the tube and the bristles are flimsy so it doesn’t clean well, even if I go in from the bottom of the tube to try to clean it. Unsure if I will be keeping or returning this product.

This humidifier is easy to use, covers a pretty big area, and does its job well. It doesn’t have as many small crevices where mold can grow compared to other humidifiers. I recommend using distilled water to help reduce the chance of mold and always air dry or wipe properly when not in use. It is a good price for what you get, especially compared to others. It’s relatively quiet and super handy during sickness, or cold weather. We never used the phone compatibility features so I can’t speak on that part.

Humidifier had issues since it arrived. Turned off randomly at times, the mist levels would drop even when I manually set it up differently. I’m so disappointed with this brand (it is my second humidifier) as well as with target for not refunding me for a product that was damaged.
