Q: Is this unit noisy? How often do you need to remove the water from the unit?

submitted by sharon - 5 years ago

I like it a lot. Gets the room cold really fast. Dual hose so it makes sense it discards the hot air. It's a little bigger than I wanted it to be but it's well worth it. If you want the whole room to stay cold, this is it

I just got my unit 3 days ago. UPS kept promising to deliver it but reneged at the last minute at least 5 times. After more than 2 weeks, it finally arrived. I set it up, which took 3 hours and a lot of sweat. I had difficulty removing the the hose ends from the unit when the hose fell off because I didn’t turn the hose ends a sufficient number of times. Also the quick setup instructions said to turn the hose ends clockwise, while the instructions said counterclockwise. (Counterclockwise is correct.) I guess that’s good because it meant the seal between the hose ends and the unit is very secure. It just took a really long time to remove the hose end from the unit and from the window adapter. I wish the window adapter was longer. It’s not long enough for my patio door and don’t think it would be adequate for the height of any patio door. I just started to use it so this is my first impression. If I have any problems in the future, I will update this review.

Makes your room a fridge

I have about three weeks with it now and must say since the first thing I started it up within minuets it was great. At first we had it in the living room but then moved it to the bedroom and it crushed. Our room has just become a fridge, it's so cold now we just use it for two hours while running a tower fan and turn it off. We let the tower fan do the rest of the work for a few hours and we usually turn it on maybe once more in the late afternoon before sunset. I live in Tijuana Mexico and summers can get really muggy so it's perfect. It's huge though but that made me know this monster was serious business coming out the box.

Since we bought this 4 months ago, it never failed to provide the coolness we need especially during this summer time. Although loud when turned on, we just got use to it.

Very well made air conditioner. The box it came in is huge, but well packaged. Set up was easy and it cooled down the room pretty quickly. This is my third portable and it is quieter than the other two. This one is to replace a 12000 BTU unit that began emitting a high pitched whistle. Read a lot of good review about Whynter and would definitely recommend this unit.

easy to install, cools the room right down, we have had these type units for a number of years. Not interested in the central air expense but these 2 vented type A/C units are amazing

We a split level home (which is near impossible to keep cool). After just a couple of hours the floor it was on felt great and we were happy with the purchase. We are buying two more. Don't be fooled by the single hose options. They are good but the negative air pressure they cause in your home is brutal. This caused no such problems. I hope you buy it and enjoy it like we are.
