Can’t get a clear answer
Bag clearly states water 2x daily. Scott’s site say’s daily. I bought a faucet timer so I could water twice a day. Which is it? Once a day or twice a day? Should I send back the timer? Not one article in the Scott’s website mentions watering twice a day.

Hello Denbo. Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Heat-tolerant Blue Mix For Tall Fescue Lawns should be watered immediately after seeding; watering is necessary for seed germination and survival. Keep the soil continually moist for the first few weeks. We recommend watering at least twice a day (morning and evening). If temperatures are high, you may need to water 3 times (morning, evening, and afternoon)

Lovely grass
I planted this a few weeks ago in a bare area and it's sprouted after just 8 days. And now it's about an inch and a half 2 in high and it looks beautiful.

Do not purchase
Planted this seed and followed all of the directions. Not a single blade of grass has grown. It did grow a bunch of weeks. What a waste of money.

So far, perfect!!
I seeded a small area (100 sq ft) that I have been having issues with for a couple of years. I removed the old sod, and replaced the top couple of inches with new soil and compost. After seeding, I lightly raked the seed into the soil and then covered the area with a very thin layer of peat moss. Depending on the weather, I lightly watered it either once or twice a day. A little over 3 weeks later, it looks AWESOME. I plan on tackling a larger area in my back yard in the spring.

Great and easy coverage
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This help to cover some bare spots in the front yard that required the same maintenance and time to get grass to grow. The front yard gets lots of direct sunlight and I watered daily in the evening after sunset. Great results and the spots are covered with green grass!

Meh
The area I seeded gets full sun all day and I'm in southern California so I needed a heat and drought tolerant grass. I seeded the area twice and it grew in a couple square inch patches here and there. Now I've just got weeds. Watered every day. Been about a month. Not certain what happened but seems I'm not the only person who's had an issue with this mix.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Heat-tolerant Blue Mix For Tall Fescue Lawns and appreciate your feedback. Our growing media products undergo composting that kills most weed seeds, however since we do not sterilize our soils some may remain. We chose not to sterilize our soils as this would kill beneficial microorganisms that help the growth of plants. We are able to offer our "weed-free guarantee" by way of our No Quibble Guarantee. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. Grass will grow...
This is pretty much Rye grass, it's the only thing that grew. I have a Fescue lawn, so everywhere I used this product to repair empty spots it's now just Rye grass. Doesn't look bad, because there is grass there, but if you cut at 4", Rye grass sucks.

Would not grow!
Used this to fill in bare spots. Used exactly per the instructions and NOTHING grew. I dug up the soil and seed, and tried again with new soil and new seed, with the same result. Will not purchase again.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Turf Builder Grass Seed Sunny Mix with Root-Building Nutrition and appreciate your feedback. For best results, this product should be applied when daytime temperatures are consistently above 65℉, making the soil temperatures at least 55℉. In the spring, it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil. Cool nighttime temperatures can delay the germination process even if warm enough during the day. Germination should begin in 6-14 days under ideal growing conditions and will take about a month to fully germinate. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. Weed control product used on sew seedlings will kill seedlings. Do not apply a weed control that is registered for lawn use until it has been cut at least 3-4 times. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

Grows fast and thick
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For some reason every year i have bare spots in my lawn so this year I figured I would try this. It did take some trial and error but once the temperatures hit the right temp these grew in pretty fast, sprouts within a few or two, I definitely suggest getting some soil or hay to cover because the birds kept trying to eat all my seed but it came up really well through my cheap top soil and most of my spots are filled in and the rest of the seed I had I used to fill out my lawn which cause it’s to be nice and thick so this seeds works really well.

Good grass seed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great product which was just what I needed for my sunny New Jersey lawn that usually gets burned up in the summer months. I had to overseed to account for that damage from last summer and this seed did the job. Hopefully it lives up to its name this summer!

Great grass seed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great grass seed. I changed my lawn to Turf type tall fescue about 5 years ago. This seed filled in some bare spots very nicely. Awesome germination rate. If anybody gives it a bad review for not germinating, then it’s user error. Not everyone can grow grass seed. Great color and thickness.

I'm expecting good things to happen...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This review is not as complete as I would like it to be due to the weather in Colorado and the deadline for submitting my review. However, I’m a lifelong Scotts customer and I’ve never been disappointed with any of the products I’ve purchased and I’ve never needed to take advantage of their no quibble guarantee. Because we might still get a frost, I’m only going to do a very limited area of the yard. In two weeks, I should be safe in doing the rest of the yard. For this product, I waited until our weather isn’t supposed to drop below 50 degrees and used a tool to break up the soil at least an inch in depth. Then I used my Scotts spreader at the recommended setting and evenly distributed the seed. When I was finished, I compacted the soil by stepping on it to ensure that the seed made good contact. Then I watered, using a gentle spray to make sure that enough water was used to get the ground moist but not drenched. We had a gentle rain last night, and more at different times today. I’ll ensure that the soil gets moistened again before it gets dark this evening and then repeat the cycle each day for the next two weeks. I’ve included a close-up of the seed in the spreader so you can see the fertilizer and soil improver that is also contained in the package. This seed is advertised to resist extreme heat and at our altitude, the radiational heating is significant. I’m looking forward to seeing the results of this test! My expectation is to see very fine green shoots sprouting soon – hopefully in 10 – 14 days. I apologize for not being able to include a picture, but here in Colorado, our growing season is a bit later than in most of the Country. Based on past performance, I’m rating this product at the 5-star level.

Easy to spread
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Satisfied with this brand of grass seed. Although it’s still too early to comment on the effectiveness of it, I’m satisfied with how easy it is to spread. We use a spreader which allows you to control how much is needed for coverage. Having a good looking lawn is important to us. We live in an area that doesn’t usually get extremely hot or humid in the summer but do have our fair share of warm days. The area we used this seed on where it’s bare is in a sunny area and keeping it watered is key to maintaining a nice growth.

Great grass seed, quick results.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very nice grass seed. Filled lawn in very nice. I used it to over seed my lawn. It grew quickly and lays down a beautiful shade of green. I use a Scott’s spreader and it distributes the seed perfectly.

I have grass!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product worked great for me. I have to hilly areas in my yard that desperately needed seeding. I try every year but it never takes hold. I applied the seeds as directed and watered frequently when rain was not forecast. The seed started to sprout about two weeks in. It looks beautiful now. I’m hoping the heat tolerance will hold up well but I really won’t be able to evaluate until mid summer. So far, so good.

Grass seed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just got the seed, but it comes up fairly quickly. Easy to put down by spreader or by hand. I would recommend it. I don't know how heat tolerant it is yet; will have to wait until July/August to see.

Excellent coverage and color
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Scotts Heat-Tolerant Blue Mix was a wonderful addition to my lawn. The mix of Kentucky Bluegrass with Tall Fescue provides excellent coverage and a nice dark green color for my lawn. As with any grass seed, the keys to success are ensuring you prepare your site, ensure good seed to soil contact, and provide ample water to keep the seed moist through germination. The Fescue will germinate first so you’ll need to keep watering even after you see the first sign of germination as the Bluegrass will take a bit longer. This product will give you nice even coverage for a thick, lush, and green lawn if the proper preparation and care is provided. Highly recommend for transition zone and northern lawns!

Grass Seed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always had good results with Scotts products. The grass seed is no exception. The grass has filled in nicely, thanks to Scotts and the rain. I will add some fertilizer shortly to even out the color.
