Skin Burn?

I got this light because target sells another one like it with great reviews. this one just included th glasses and the remote. Im not sure what we're doing wrong but my mom's skin has become very dry with usage. Almost like a sun burn. We were excited to use it for recovery. I'd love to speak to someone to see what we are doing wrong. Will probably return if we can't figure it out.
