Q: Can I brown food on stove and then slow cook In slow cooker?

submitted by AC - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi AC! We hope you are healthy and staying safe. Yes, we actually recommend that you brown the food on the stove first before slow-cooking.

  • A: Yes. This is recommended for most beef. It makes it taste sooooo much better.

submitted byUnmei - 11 months ago
  • A: Yes. The best way to prep beef for stew.

submitted byEubbie - 1 year ago
  • A: I don't think so. Suggest using a skillet

    submitted byBeenthere216 - 3 years ago
  • A: Best to use stove pan for searing BC you need to sear most meat to lock in flavor & juices. So, the ceramic insert is for "slow" cooking. Tip: They make slow cooking inserts to save cleaning!

  • A: Has crockpot fixed the not country temperature, after 4 hours it still not at a safe cooking temperature. Call Crockpot, they sent me an another one—/ still the same problem, that is all they would do for me. crockpot told me to throw it out. Brand new, I only tested it with water, failed. They have done revisions on this protect , stop selling broken item . Not safe , you can get food poisoning, why tell everyone to brown /cook their meat first, — because it doesn’t work. Why is Target still selling this, I called corp

submitted by carole - 3 years ago

  • A: The width and depth specifications for this crock-pot are different -- so, it is an oval. (Not sure why they answered you that it is round!)

Q: Can I use the pot to cook on the stove top before slow cooking?

submitted by Olivia C - 2 years ago
  • A: No. Neither the pot nor inner liner are stove top safe.

submitted byAmy - 1 year ago
  • A: No. You will need to brown in a skillet before putting it into the liner pot.

submitted byivorykeys - 2 years ago
  • A: No, you can not use it on the stove top.

submitted byRadiva - 1 year ago
  • A: Hello! Thanks for your question! The stoneware pot in most Crockpot slow cookers is designed specifically for slow cooking and isn't safe for stovetop use. Exposing it to direct heat on the stove can cause it to crack. For further assistance, please contact us through email, phone or the contact form available on our website. Q: How does ceramic wash as opposed to stoneware

submitted by Aa - 2 years ago
  • A: I am not sure about stoneware but I have always found the crock pot liners easy to clean.

submitted byAmy - 1 year ago
  • A: Great. If you have to soak it first just make sure you don't use Hot water if the ceramic pot cooled down too much. Just use room temp water.

submitted byivorykeys - 2 years ago
  • A: Hello. Thank you for reaching out to us. Please be informed that all our stoneware products are coated with a ceramic glaze made from a silicate blend of quartz, feldspar, and clay. The glaze is covered over the pot, fired at high temperature to melt the glaze and then cooled down. The glaze liquid is then turned into coating the same as glass film on the surface of the pot which makes cleaning easy, and ensures a smooth, polished surface for long-lasting use. We hope this information proves helpful. If you have any further questions, you can reach out to us directly via our official CrockPot website's "Contact us" page or through LiveChat. We’re available Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern Time. We will be glad to help you. Thank you! CrockPot Consumer Care.

Q: I have a 6 quart crock pot and whether I choose low or high, the food is always overcooked. I cook for myself so maybe I'm not putting enough food in? What size would you recommend for one person that would generate 4-5 portions?

submitted by Elle - 6 years ago
  • A: Crock-Pot has dramatically increased the temperature of the heating element from what it was years ago, presumably due to worries about food-borne illness. It is very difficult to cook properly with modern slow cookers. I would recommend you scour garage sales for older models, which cook much more reliably.

    submitted byDyann B - 6 years ago
  • A: All my Crockpots over the past 5-10 yr have overheated, no matter what the setting. Last time I did 2 roasts, should have taken 8 hr on low. At 5 hr, it was actually boiling, and the meat was overdone

submitted byCookie - 2 years ago
  • A: Thank you so much for your question. We’re sorry to hear about what happened to your food. To avoid over- or under-cooking, always fill the stoneware ½ to ¾ full to conform to recommended cook times with the exception of certain cakes and custards, and as guided in our slow cooker recipes. For further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-323-9519. Our Consumer Care Team is open from 9 am to 5 pm EST Monday to Friday. Q: How many "feet" does this have? The larger oval ones only have three making it wobbly and a tipping hazard.

submitted by jevem - 4 months ago
  • A: Hello! Thank you for your question regarding the Crock-Pot 4.5qt Slow Cooker. This model is designed with four feet on the base to provide stability and prevent wobbling during use. Unlike some larger oval models that feature only three feet, the four-point support on this unit helps ensure it sits securely on your countertop and minimizes tipping hazards. We hope this gives you peace of mind about the product’s safety and design. Please let us know if you have any further questions—we’re always happy to assist. If you require our assistance, please contact us via our official website or messenger and we will be happy to assist further. Thank you! Crock-Pot Consumer Care Team.

Q: How will I know if the crockpot is on? This particular one does not have any light to indicate it.

submitted by ZEEEE1 - 3 years ago

    submitted byBeenthere216 - 3 years ago
  • A: Hello, this is Collins from Crockpot! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question! Q: DOES THIS CROCK P0T HAVE A TIMER TO SHUT OFF OR DOES IT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF ANYTIME?

submitted by Deedee - 4 years ago
  • A: Nope, this crock pot is manual. You will have to turn it on & off manually.

    submitted byBeenthere216 - 3 years ago
  • A: Hey there, Deedee! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question. This manual slow cooker does not have a timer and cannot be set to turn off automatically. Once you turn the slow cooker on, it stays on until you shut it off. This product is manually operated with a control knob and must be manually switched to Warm or Off when cooking is completed. Quality doesnt last and terrible customer service

Owned this crockpot just over two years when the handle screw snapped off, causing the glass lid to break. This was clearly a defect, not misuse and I even had photos of the broken screw. Customer service refused to replace the lid simply because it’s over two years old, with no accountability. Very frustrating experience. Product didn’t last, and support was unhelpful. I’d recommend looking at other brands.

I tried to use it twice. same results. Raised the temperature to high, however The temperature was still very low and wasn't cooking my food properly. I had to remove it from the slow cooker and place it in my oven. This was a gift so how can I go about getting a replacement or even something else? I have pictures. Sorry, but I don't recommend.

I’ve had this crock pot for maybe 1 year but barely used it. And to my dismay the knob just broke off. It wasn’t dropped nor mishandled. It Literally just sat on the counter in between uses. I can’t for the life of figure out why it just broke like that. My former crock I used for multiple years many times until the paint wore off. So I’m very disappointed that this is so cheaply made.

Package thrown in woods by Fedex.

Never order anything delivered by FedEx! It is raining. I am at home at time of delivery. Driver drove up my long driveway and did not stay on the asphalt and tii on red my driveway up! I looked everywhere for my package and instead of delivering it up to my house, he puts package in the woods between me and my neighbor. I haven’t even opened the package yet. Hope it is t broken. This is my first time having anything shipped to my home from Target. Never again’ unless you change carriers! I also have a huge mailbox he could have out the package in. I didn’t have my phone with me to take a picture but it was raining anyway.
