Active ingredients

(fiber therapy) (in each teaspoon): psyllium husk (approximately 3.4 g).

Purpose

(Fiber Therapy): Fiber Laxative.

Uses

(Fiber Therapy): Effective in treating occasional constipation and restoring regularity., (Fiber Supplement Information): For lowering cholesterol and heart health., Diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 7 grams of soluble fiber per day from psyllium husk, as in this product, may reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering cholesterol. One adult dose of this product has 2.4 grams of this soluble fiber. Consult a doctor if you are considering use of this product as a part of a cholesterol-lowering program.

Allergy alert

(Fiber Therapy): This product may cause allergic reaction in people sensitive to inhaled or ingested psyllium.

Ask a doctor before use if

Ask a doctor before use if you have a sudden change in bowel habits persisting for 2 weeks, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting.

Stop use and ask a doctor if

constipation lasts more than 7 days, rectal bleeding occurs. These may be signs of a serious condition.

Keep out of reach

In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Directions

(Fiber Therapy): Put one dose into an empty glass. Mix this product (child or adult dose) with at least 8 ounces (a full glass) of water or other fluid. Taking this product without enough liquids may cause choking. See choking warning. Stir briskly and drink promptly. If mixture thickens, add more liquid and stir. Laxatives, including bulk fibers, may affect how well other medicines work. If you are taking a prescription medicine by mouth, take this product at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after the prescribed medicine. As your body adjusts to increased fiber intake, you may experience changes in bowel habits or minor bloating. New Users: Start with 1 dose per day; gradually increase to 3 doses per day as necessary. (Fiber Supplement Information): See mixing directions in Drug Facts. Notice: Mix this product (child or adult dose) with at least 8 ounces (a full glass) of water or other fluid. Taking this product without enough liquid may cause choking. Do not take if you have difficulty swallowing.

(Fiber Therapy) Adults 12 Years & Older:

1 rounded teaspoon in 8 oz of liquid at the first sign of irregularity. Can be taken up to 3 times daily. Generally produces effect in 12-72 hours.

6-11 Yrs:

1/2 adult dose in 8 oz of liquid, up to 3 times daily.

Under 6 Yrs:

Consult a doctor.

(Fiber Supplement Information) Adults 12 Yrs & Older:

1 rounded teaspoon in 8 oz of liquid 3 times daily.

Under 12 Yrs:

  • A: The tablespoon dose version is with sugar. This uses artificial sweetener which is a lot sweeter than sugar, so they use less. As a result, the dose is teaspoons. If you are OK with the artificial sweetener (I sure am), you get more doses per container, usually for the same price.

Gross taste, pungent aroma, tricky to mix.

The flavor/aroma is like sulphur/garlicky? also hydrophobic and tricky to mix in. I didn't realize the generic orange flavor psyllium husk powders arent all made equal.

I take Metamucil daily, but when I switched to this for one month I regretted it. Doesn’t dissolve enough in water and had the texture of course sand. My stool wasn’t happy either. I’m happily back to Metamucil.

Target ruined it, switching to Equate

It's now a fine powder to match Metemucil's formula. Target's implementation is terrible, it tasts okay, much like the old one did, but the powder does not mix welll and leaves blobs and clumps in the glass along with an undisolved surface scum. The cap does not fit the bottle and will not close all the way without slipping. Tried the Equate brand, what a difference! Still the reformulated fine powder, but none of these problems. Mixes well with no blobs or clumps, tasts better and the lid actually closes tightly. Same price, I lose my 5% discount, but it's worth it. Never going back. Target up&up, you ruined a good thing. Two stars, one because it works, though not as well, one for the not-too-bad taste.

It's changed, doesn't dissolve easily

Something has definitely changed with this item. Other than the obvious label and ingredients and that it is made in India, it just doesn't dissolve easily anymore. It's tough to choke down a bunch of dry bubbles. Why mess with what's working, please bring back the old. This is kind of an important supplement for many of us.
