Q: How is this different from Bob's Red Mill Baking Flour?

submitted by need2no - 3 years ago
  • A: Some of Bob's red mill gf flour mixes contain garbanzo bean flour, which has a distinct flavor. I prefer King Arthur Measure for Measure for that reason.

submitted byJane - 1 year ago
  • A: King Arthur’s is Certified Gluten-Free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization, fortified with vitamins and minerals, and is made with more than 50% whole grains.

Q: Does this flour have an expiration date? Don't see any on any of the bags I bought...

submitted by Leftd - 2 years ago
  • A: All of our retail-sized flours will have printed best-by dates on the packing, next to a lot code. If unable to locate expiration date, please contact King Arthur customer service.

Q: is there yeast in this flour? I would like to try it for bread making and wondering if I should add gluten free yeast.

submitted by bridget b - 2 years ago
  • A: No, there is no yeast in this flour. You will need to add if would like to make yeasted recipes

submitted byRB - 2 years ago

Q: The description says "Contains: Eggs, Soy, Milk, Almonds, Coconut" - none of these appear to be present in the ingredients list... So, does it actually contain these allergens?

submitted by Ginsomer - 4 years ago
  • A: No. I have no idea why those are listed in the ingredients. The package doesn't say the same. I'm allergic to soy and milk and have been using this flour for months so at least I can attest to its lack of those two allergens.

submitted byTina - 4 years ago

Q: Is this nut free ? My grandson has an extreme tree nut allergy. Also want to make sure it’s made in a nut free facility ( no cross contamination )

submitted by Nana - 4 years ago
  • A: All allergen information can be found at www.kingarthurbaking.com/allergen-program. This item is produced on equipment that also processes wheat, milk, soy, eggs, coconut, chestnuts and almonds.

    Gluten Free At Its Finest!

I love King Arthur Brand!! Good ingredients and quality. I needed more last night for pizza dough but it does not mention on the front of this 1:1 measure for measure package of flour. NOT FOR BREADS, PIZZA DOUGH, OR BUNS. Lol I got it for pizza dough. Mistake!! It does not rise at all!! It does mention it on the back after I made my dough I was reading it all. I did 4 stars since it’s not mentioned on the front of the package. Other than that I know it will be great for cookies, cakes, desserts that doesn’t need yeast. I use the gluten free all purpose flour in this brand and it makes great bread and pizza dough, cookies and all. Target didn’t have that one. I also use King Arthur gluten free mixes, and they are all great!! I am the only one gluten free in our household and everyone else eats it because they can’t tell the difference. It’s truly AMAZING!

    Dry Batter

Works okay but you need to account for dryness of batter and add something to recipes for moisture, like applesauce or more oil.

    measure-for-measure?

I use King Arthur Flour's non wheat flour for family members who don't digest gluten easily. I find that it is as close to "cup for cup" as any alternative flours I've used, but do find that recipes are best replicated when using a scant-cup measurement. It seems to absorb moisture just a tad more that wheat flour. This is just my experience. . . I do recommend this product!

Threw my christmas cookies in the trash

I usually make my Christmas cookies GF because of family members with gluten allergies and I always use cup4cup brand GF flour. I guess target stopped selling it so I bought king Arthur’s. WOW am I disappointed. My snowball cookies were so gritty and completely fell apart. It was like eating sand. Disgusting. I threw my thumbprint dough away before even wasting my time making those once I realized how disgusting the snowballs were.
