my family gifted me the mixer that comes with this hook about 1.5 years ago. happily making bread every two weeks or so. In a recent batch of bread I spat out a film which i found a bit weird as i couldnt recognise where it was from, only to later realise its from the chipped hook. Have only hand-washed with a soft sponge since started using it and its not even that long. Came in here and realised im not the only one. Quite disappointed.

I thought by now they would have fixed the issue with the bowl getting stuck on the mixer by using better quality materials. To loosen the bowl you have to pour oil in the creases. Ridiculous and messy!

cant release the bowl. is there a trick to getting the bowl off the machine?! I thought by now, kitchenaid would have fixed this issue with better materials.

The mixer is handy for making homemade pasta and other dough. On our 5th use, the bowl could no longer be fixed in place on its base and almost went out of control when mixing. Had to strongly hold it in place to complete the job, quite dangerous.

Excellent bowl for baking! A second bowl your mixer is a must. Planning to buy third soon. Used for buttercreams, gum paste, royal icing without any issues. Can pour hot sugar syrup egg yolks with ease.

Food safety concerns as the coasting chips into the food. Very disappointed with Kitchenaid.

I just opened this brand new 4.5 qt replacement stainless steel bowl and am so disappointed. It doesn’t lock in place.

I have had my mixer about 6 months and used the dough hook probably 30 times, as stated by others the grey paint/enamel is chipping of in big chuncks

Purchased as an xtra bowl for my small mixer. Worked swell the first two times and then it wouldn’t fit properly on the base and wobbles back & forth as it mixes. I can’t use it. Not a quality product as the original kitchen aide.

I had the original bowl to my KSM90 Ultra Power stand mixer (made in the USA) for years and years. The solder holding the handle on the mixer finally gave out and I replaced the bowl with this recommended model. It didn't fit well from the start and now doesn't lock in place at all. I can only use the mixer if there is someone else here to add ingredients while I physically hold the bowl in place. And we're talking batter only -- too precarious and dangerous to try bread. I see a disaster coming with this method. KitchenAid, what happened to the quality this company has been famous for? What private equity firm bought and stripped it of any remnants of its reputation or legacy? I have to invest in a new stand mixer now, but it won't be a KitchenAid. I am so sad and disappointed. Another legacy company swallowed whole by a morbidly greedy mega-corporation. I am more than sad, I am angry.

This item was exactly what I ordered, but not what I wanted. It has a 4.5 quart bowl and I didn't realize I needed a 5 quart bowl for a seamless transition. I currently have a 5 quart bowl and I wanted a second one. If I used a 4.5 quart bowl, I would have to readjust the blades each time because the depth of the bowls are different.

I got this as a second bowl to complement my original one . Helpful that is has a handle too . Fits nicely in my classic mixer and performs well..clean up is easy in dishwasher and looks shiny when stored. Now I don't have to keep washing my single bowl if it's been used .highly recommend this product.
